"I will not loose to you. Dafina will be mine!" He snapped. No, he would not go down like this! He would not loose to this this....worthless stallion!
Dragonfly stumbled forward, trying to forget the pain of his leg. But three legs were no use to someone who was so used to four. He was being slowed down.
Eyes burned with intense fire, almost maddening as he tried to catch a hold of Ramus with his teeth. A snear spread across his face as he let out a loud grunt followed by a roar of frustration.

Ramus made sure to keep out of his reach and shook his head. it seemed he would have to knock him down like the many times Dragonfly knocked him over to win. " this time your gonna lose." lowering hsi head he charged to knock into Dragonfly to knock him off his feet.

To slow.
Hobbling around on three legs cut down on Dragonfly's speed. Ramus knocked right into him and he fell to the ground once more. This time he didn't get up. The stallion laid there, his sides rising heavily and rapidly. The wind knocked out of him.
He could only curse himself. If Ramus hadn't hit his back knee he would of still had the upper hand by now. Closing his eyes, he let out another strained breath.
The herd members around them continued to talk amongst themselves. Many angered voices filled the area as well as concerned ones. The stallions near Dafina rushed forward, placing themselves in front of Ramus. One with eyes as red as Dragonfly's lowered his head. "Enough...." His voice was low and threatening.
Firefly watched in awe. He had...done it! He had done it! Ramus had taken her advice and fell her father. As the other stallions rushed forward, she made her way quickly over to Dafina. Nuzzling her as tears formed at the corners of her eyes.
In an instant she had turned and approached Ramus. "Lets go. There's nothing else to do here for now." The circle of Soquili had broken and a new path for them to leave had given way. Firefly raced past them all, to get as far away as she could before her father had the mind to try and get up again.
Dafina was elated. Her eyes shone and ears perked forward as her mother came to her.
But most of her attention was on Ramus. He had freed her! She knew he would. She had never given up hope. Never.
"Hurry!" Was all she said as she raced past him, following quickly behind her mother. Thats all she had to say for the moment. Dafina would have her talk with Ramus once they were clear of the herd.
But she knew in her heart that this would not be the last she would see of her grandfather.

Its seemed like she had been running forever. But as soon as she hit the trees Firefly came to a stop. Whirling around, her tail whipped around her body. A wide smile across her face.
"Its over. For now." A great relief had been taken off her shoulders and now she just felt like laying down. In which she did. Her chest rising and falling heavily as she tried to catch her breath.
She was still kind of in shock though. But still knew this wasn't the end. Just a calm before the next storm. But at least this was one victory.
Following her mother, she came to a stop in the trees. Turning around to watch as Ramus and the dark stallion with him followed behind.
She could breath now. Dafina felt like she had been holding her breath for so long that her chest burned. Her tail flicked slowly behind her, still a bit exhausted and the adrenaline in her system was starting to fade away.
Walking over to her mother, she gave her a loving nuzzle. The young mare knew some how that Firefly would find a way to save her. And luckily she had brought Ramus, the wild card in the whole factor. Though it still saddened her that her father had not been there.
But it didn't matter at that time. She was free!

Ramus came to a halt after a run that felt like forever. he was definatly tired after the whole thing adn the tender shoulder was starting to bug him a bit. giving a small smile as he watched Ddafina be reunited with her mother, he wondered what would happen now. " yeah for now i suppose." oh he hoped nothing more would happen any time soon.
Rahu gave a lazy yawn as he stoped beside Ramus. it had definatly had been an adrenaline rush atlest the run. seeing as it was all over there really wasnt much else to do. " i suppose this is thhe time to part ways, unless theres more."

Dafina lifted her head, looking at the two stallions quietly for a moment. They were leaving? After all that just happened?
Taking a few tentative steps towards Ramus, she tugged on a bit of his mane. "I would like to talk to you before you go, if you are not in so much of a hurry?" Her eyes searched his face before they looked straight into his. A look of pleading seemed to take place of her happy expression as she raised her eyebrows lightly.
Firefly watched silently. She figured there would be some talking between the two. Climbing to her feet she shot a glance at Rahu. "Rushing off so soon are we?" A light and tired smirk curled the corners of her mouth. She was willing enough to stick around to let Dafina talk to Ramus if that was what she wanted.
She wanted to get home before she became too tired, but still.

Ramus glanced over at his grandfather, wondering if he would mind if he talked to Dafina. upon just geting a eye roll and a nod, he grinned. " alright." he wondered exsactly waht she wanted to talk to him about which he didnt mind att all talking to her about whatever she wanted.
" you know how i am Firefly but if those two want to talk so be it though i got no reason to stick around." giving his own smirk, he left Ramus to talk to Dafina. " you guys have your fun, i'm out of here." giving a snicker he walked off to leaving them to do as they pleased. Ramus was no colt so he didnt have to babysit him or walk him home and knew Ramus would go home when he needed to.

She watched as Rahu left. At least it seemed he wasn't going to hound his grandson anymore.
Turning her attention back to Dafina, a soft smile made its way onto her face again. "I won't be too far away, I'll be heading towards home but you know the way. You can catch up with me later." Her eyes turned to Ramus. "Thank you. You do not understand how grateful I am." And with that she slipped away. Leaving the pair to talk about whatever it was they were to talk about.
She watched at the two left. Giving a subtle nod to her mother. Indeed she did know the way home and would head that way once she was done.
Once they were both gone, she turned back to Ramus. Small tears had started to form in the corners of her eyes. Dafina had been holding them back, but now they started to run down her cheeks.
Clearing her throat, she pushed a smile through. "I knew you would come. I never lost hope even when it seemed hopeless." She took another tentative step towards him, her tail moving slowly behind her as she moved.
Biting her bottom lip, she reached out her nose, touching his cheek lightly with it. "I'm glad it was you."

Her smile widened as he wiped away her tears. She closed her eyes for a moment before letting them slip open slowly. Peering out from behind her eyelashes.
"I do. But I don't know if right now is the right time to say some of the things I want to say...." This time she nibbled lightly at the corner of her cheek. Her ears flicking back for a moment as she shuffled her hooves lightly. Nervously.
"I'm just....so happy to be free. I know my grandfather will try again but...." Dafina's ears fell flat against her head. "Ramus, don't let him take me again. Please?" More tears fell as she shot forward, placing her head beneath his chin and letting her eyes slip closed.

Ramus was courious over what exsactly she wanted to say that she was holding back but when she started tearing up and asking him not to allow her to be taken again. giving a soft chuckle he spoke. " if i can help it i wont allow him to." leaving her with her head under his chin, he closed his own eyes wondering truely if her gradnfather would coem for her again adn cause another fight.

"You promise?" Her eyes opened slightly. Ear pressed against his neck as she listened to his heart beat.
Dafina was relieved. She hoped her grandfather would never show himself again, but it was merely wishful thinking. Having spent enough time with him, she knew what kind of Soquili he was.
"Ramus I..." Leaning back just a bit so that she could look up at him, she smiled nervously. She was afraid. Afraid of how he might react. Dafina herself was not quite sure what exactly she was thinking at that moment, but it scared her. She didn't want to loose him as a friend, but in her heart of hearts she felt more. And it made her wonder if he felt more as well?
Why else would he come to rescue her?
"I....I don't want you to leave me. Stay by my side? Stay with me to make sure everything is alright?" There is was. She hadn't actually said what her mind was thinking and kind of tip toed around it. But she had put her heart out there. On the line. And it would be up to him to accept it or let it drop to the ground. "I don't want to move too fast. But I don't want you to fade away either..."

" yeah i promise." he could only hope he would beable to keep that promise and not let her down. as she leaned back away from him to look up at him, he say her nervious smile as he looked at her. heart beating a little faster, he was geting a bit nervious himself as he could tell she was about to say something important. " now why would i ever fade away? i don't dont ever plan to. and...if you really would like me to stay with you." giving a smile, he knew he cared for her or hhe wouldn't have put everything on the line just to save her.

She looked to the ground sheepishly. Eyes lidding half way as she studied a few blades of grass nearby. "I don't know. Guess its just me worrying or something..."
Dafina looked back up at him, her smile still there. But there was less nervousness to it. "I do. I really do want you to stay with me, Ramus. Forever." She slipped her nose against his cheek lightly, breathing a warm breath against it before pulling her nose away.
The mare was happy. Happy to be free. Happy to be back where she belonged. And even happier now with Ramus. He hadn't thrown her heart away. She didn't believe he would, but there was always a bit of doubt lingering in the back of her mind. She just hadn't been sure up until this point.
Ramus had risked his life for her time and time again. And that in itself was more proof to her than anything else of his feelings.
