He smiled. "I will if you'd like me too." He said now paying for the box, "I'll pay for her also." he said to the merchant, and he nodded. Hashi paid and started to walk out with akima. " So where exactly do you live?"

"But you//dont..have to..." She said softly behind him. "Um I live at the end og the street with my brothers family." She explained pointing to a moderatly sized hose down the road a ways.

"I don't mind." he said quickly, as he started to walk out of the shop with her. "May I ask why you are living with your brother?"

Akima looked down as they walked along "Father was killed in battle 3 years ago and my sisters husband took my mother my younger brother and I into his house hold after he promised my father to look after us." She explained retelling a wildy known story.

"Oh." He paused "I'm sorry. My father also died in battle three years ago. My mother died soon there after." He walked looking forward ans they come up on the front gate of akima's residence. " Akima... I want you to have this." He turned and bowed offering her the box. "As a token of my friendship to you. Please accept it."

Akima stoped and watched Hashi stadnign like a deer in headligth when he turend around and offerd the box."But I....Im not worthy." she spoke soflty in the way shed been trained.

He looked up at her. "Oh?" He thought for a second. "I bet that's what that old cow tells them all to say." he muttered quietly. "Please Akima. I wish for you to have it."

Akima bowed lower and held out her hands lightly. "If you wish it I will take it."

Hashi looked up and placed the box containing a hair ornament and a fan into her hands. "Thank you for accepting it. I hope you have a good evening, but I have to leave now." He bowed again smiling, then he stood up.

Akima lightly cluthed the box to her chest and smiled bowing deeper as she watched him leave.

He turned slightly with a smile " I hope to see you in the morning. Good night Akima." He turned around and disappeared into the dark.

Akima watched him disappear and shivered as the cooler wind wrapped around her. She had not realized it but when she was with him she was warmer. She smiled and headed in hugging the box to her. "Goodnight Hashi" she whispered just before she went in.

The next morning Hashi was waiting for Akima a short ways from the school. "She should be here." he thought. "Is she coming?"

Akima came waddling along in her school kimono that was much to long and ceremonial. With two lunch bentos in her hands and the comb Hashi had given her in her hair.
