Vikings started it out on fire and they've cooled down. But we got Madieu Williams, most likely the best safety in free agency, and Bernard Berrian, the second best receiver in FA. Thus improving the passing game on both sides greatly.

...Gibril Wilson was the best safety in this year's free agency, but getting Madieu Williams was a great move, to add a good presence to their horrible secondary (another Williams on the Vikings defense ?!?!?!?). xd

...Moss was set to stay with the Patriots all along, so he wasn't really a free agent. Take him out of the equation, and the Vikings got the best valued receiver available, in Berrian. I think that with time, Tavaris Jackson will develop into a successful quarterback. He is young, smart, and talented. All the Vikings really need to do now on offense is to improve their offensive line, which is hurting.

Wilson being the best safety on the market is arguable as well. And our line has Hutchinson (probowl), McKinnie, Birk (probowl), Cook (young), and Herrera. Not much room for improvement there, besides Cook, and he's pretty good. Tank Williams was cut, so there's only three. We need a pass rush. And a shutdown corner.

Well yea, the Vikings had a pretty awful secondary this season. They do have the best defensive tackle tandem in the NFL, though.

recent signings/news

WR Larry Fitzgerald has signed a 4 year/40 million dollar extension
i heard that LB Jonathan Vilma is on the Saints now
RB Warrick Dunn signed with the Bucaneers for 3 years worth about 2.6 million dollars
WR Antonio Bryant signed with the Bucaneers as well
QB Trent Green has signed with the Rams for 3 years
CB Brian Kelly signed with the Lions
Browns sign OL Rex Hadnot to a contract
Dolphins sign S Keith Davis
Saints re-sign TE Eric Johnson
LaDainian Tomlinson has said that his knee feels better but he isnt sure if he will be able to participate in the minicamp in May

about this Trent Green thing.why 3 years???hes gonna be like 43 or something like that.
i like Warrick Dunn signing back with his former team.he helps them with their running back problem they have had.
if Jonathan Vilma is on the Saints then their defense will be much better alao signing CB Randall Gay
Larry Fitzgerald having a contract extension is good for both him and the Cardinals.but what about Anquan Boldin?is he going to get more catches or get the ball thrown to him more?its kinda hard when you have two elite receivers on your team and both want so much.

The Cardinals were lucky to be able to keep Fitzgerald. They still have a bit of a cap crisis, and although their offensive line is still very iffy, they should focus most, if not all, their attention, on defense (defensive line & linebackers).

Warrick Dunn was a decent signing for the Buccaneers. He is still a very good and smart player, but Tampa Bay is pretty deep at RB, to make such a high-priced move. Adding WR Bryant to the Bucs was a good move.

Trent Green to the Rams... neutral ...just hope he keeps his health. I think he's played his last game already. Bulger is probable to start all the way through.

Vilma to the Saints was a good gain.

The Lions signing Brian Kelly, one of the top cornerbacks in free agency this year, was a very good move. Many teams were after him, and I personally don't know why it took this long. He is a bit aging though.

The Giants have signed QB David Carr to a 1-year, $1 million deal with some incentives. He is likely to be the main backup for Eli Manning.

...The #3 spot is still in question for the Giants. They have David Wright and Jared Lorenzen. As a Giants fan, I would disagree with the likely move of Wright to the #3 spot, while letting Lorenzen go. Although Wright may have the better skill of the two, Lorenzen has a great old-school football mindset. He is built like a defensive lineman, is fast, and smart. He may not pass too well, but he is a great rusher and is good out of the pocket. In other words, it is better to keep Lorenzen, who is not as related to Manning or Carr, like Wright.

...Also...having two #1 pick QBs doesn't hurt cool

Lions released RB Kevin Jones.

...despite the two big names in their backfield, the Lions were extremely unsuccessful in the run game during the 2007 season...

It has been reported that the Atlanta Falcons will trade CB DeAngelo Hall to the Oakland Raiders for their 2008 second round draft pick.

...I personally don't think this is a good move for the Raiders. DeAngelo Hall is pretty good, but often plays bad against high-caliber receivers. In other words, he's overrated. Hall usually plays against the bad receivers of NFC South teams...Also, Oakland already has a very good secondary. Why add another good player? Hall will make you commit a ton of money, and make you focus less on more needs. The Raiders are in dire need of linebackers, an offensive line, running backs, a tight end, and maybe an extra receiver or defensive lineman.

TE Bubba Franks to sign with Jets.

Pathers sign WR D.J. Hackett.

Broncos trade C Myers to the Texans for sixth round 2008 draft pick.

Vikes re-sign Robert Ferguson and also signed Eric Wyms.

Anquan Boldin, Lavernues Coles, and Roy Williams are three receivers who seem like they will stay with their respective teams.

Like Fitzgerald, Boldin wants his contract with Arizona re-modeled soon as well.

And it starts with the Raiders finally getting smart enough to sign (from the draft and free agency) some offensive linemen. They should consider trading up to get Jake Long.

...anyways, McFadden seems like an okay choice for them, but they have better needs than at running back. They should have been more active in free agency in that position, or not have let their backs from last season depart.

Gus Frerotte seems like the hottest current commodity in the free agency market. He's being looked at by the Packers, Vikings, and Ravens.

...this is mostly because of the signing of Trent Green in St. Louis to back up Bulger.
