Staying close to her, Everhart had never felt like this before. He felt like he had known her for ages but they really had only just met. Was it natural to feel like this towards others? He had distanced himself so much that he wasn't sure anymore. The stallion felt her pull away and then he realized what he had just done.
Why was he so confused around her? Everything he had done was out of the ordinary for him. Everhart wanted to be able to understand but this was just happening so fast. A few moments ago they were being attacked by a kalona and now he was feeling somewhat... attached to this flutter.
"That's good." But then he realized what she was looking at. "Oh." Everhart turned his head to look at his body to see the blood dripping off the side of him. "It's alright, it doesn't really hurt." He could tell that the Kalona's spikes had dug deep into his side and Everhart knew that his battle was going to have physical proof for the rest of his life.

Delilah's lips pulled deeper into a frown as he responded. "But..." She murmured, unsure how to respond. Unicorns were different, which was what she kept forgetting. They were healers... But she had a feeling that wasn't the reason Everhart didn't pay attention to his deep wound. It worried her more that he seemed so aloof about it. Looking up at him, she meant to scold him for his lack of attention, but instead found her heart beating a little too much for her liking.
With a shift of her head she allowed her mane o fall over her eyes, and she tried to make it look like she was examining his wound than at the ground. "You're still bleeding though... I'm sorry." Her words were so quiet they most likely fell on deaf ears. But she was sorry - because maybe if she hadn't bugged him to take a walk, show her where the lillies were, they wouldn't have crossed that feminine Kalona!
"I'm sorry," she said a little more audibly, yet too ashamed to look him in the face.

He chuckled nervously; Everhart was not cut out for this fighting business. He knew that he should take a look at his injury but he couldn't bring himself to look at his own blood. That might just make him realize exactly what he had just done. "What are you sorry for?" Now, Everhart was just confused. Why was she apologizing? She hadn't done anything wrong.
Looking at her, Everhart was completely puzzled by this mare. "It's nothing really! It doesn't hurt and it'll heal. It's really not a problem." Everhart wanted her to understand that this wound really was nothing. Them being safe was something else and was much more important. "Don't apologize... for something that isn't your fault." Everhart felt guilty for making her upset; he hated to be a burden on others and this just proved that he did it often. He didn't even know her that well and they've already gotten into a load of trouble.
"Please. Don't be upset." The stallion pleaded and hoped that she would listen to him.

It bothered Delilah dearly that he did not care for his wound... That he was so oblivious to how much seeing him hurt hurt her. It didn;t bother Delilah she cared so much for her new-found friend - he had just saved her, afterall... And he seemed so kind and self-sacrificing... Delilah felt even more guilty after his earnest plea.
Pulling herself together, Delilah stepped towards him once more and nduged her nose under his chin in a delicate manner only she could perfect. Her dark eyes shut momentarily, trying to not apologize... But it was hard. "It is my fault, though. You got hurt trying to fight that Kalona. Everhart..." She traiked off, her voice as soft as a whisper. She should've stepped in somehow...
"You got hurt protecting me, Ever."
