Sadly as a paladin I can relate. I'm protection, have no points in holy and my mana pool is extremely limited and even with this knowledge people still ask me to heal. (And don't give me that "get a healing set" crap, I'd rather work on improving my gear for what I am spec for). I would just do what xXcallibrettoXx and find a group of people you can tolerate to run stuff with you. :c

There are certain classes where once they get to maybe ZF or ST, you cant ask them to heal if they aren't specced for it, because they go oom so quickly.
95% of classes that have healing spells that arent speccd for it dont have healing sets at low levels, so asking them to heal in instances is just asking for a repair bill. For instance I wouldnt ask an enhance shaman to heal, or a ret pally/feral druid. Its just stupid.
Priests are one of the classes that dont lose healing efficiency until the 65+ instances, and even then if the priest is skilled it becomes possible (difficult).
Much less so for a shaman/paladin/druid.
Eh. Even then, druids are decent, especially because if you're a feral druid, you're required to specc into Restoration anyways to achieve your maximum potential. Feral druids actually make really good off-healers or main healers in a pinch, especially if they have a healing set.

Well yeah, but getting those talents doesnt happen until after ZF/ST anyway. Also by 60 you should have an alternate set, even if its only a couple of pieces.

Why bother with having an alternate set if you don't want to heal anyway? If the person isn't specced for it, you might as well get someone to follow the tank around with tons of bandages.

I disagree. Regardless if you aren't specced for healing, It is wise to carry about a healing set. You don't even need an updated healing set. My Protection paladin was healing just fine in Hellfire Ramparts with SM worthy gear.

Of course, it entirely depends on the skill of the healer, and if they are willingly to do it. If you truly insist on not healing, I say that's ok. But I really don't like it when people choose a class that can heal, and complain that people are asking them to heal.

I quite enjoy healing.
Holy Pallys have huge mana efficiency for a reason after all.
I still DPS a bit, it's simply normal to try and help the instance in any way you can.

Extra mana? Pop a heal.

Some of the people in this thread are a bit frustrating.

I dont understand people who are against getting a healing set. One person who said they would rather work on improving their main spec set... Because picking up a healing item that drops and no one else wants is SUCH A HINDERANCE on getting your tank/dps set. In fact, I hear if you take a healing item, it makes one of your main spec items dissapear. (/le gasp)

Really that goes for everyone. I cant think of one good shadow priest, prot pala or fearal druid who doesnt also have a healing set for emergencies. NOT ONE. So stuff the holier than thou attitude, pick up some offspec gear, and l2heal when its needed.

Also, what about for 5 man instances where you're healer dies? Do you just lol and keep DPSing (*duuurrr, me shadow, me dps*)? Or do you stick on a healing weapon, pop out of shadow form, and freaking heal the MT? Seriously, some of you sound like you wouldn't heal in that situation. And to me all that says is BAD PLAYER no matter how much DPS you do.

But then really I guess if you dont want to heal, no one can force you, it just makes you a bit useless at times (ie. Respeccing for a raid that needs you to, or respeccing for a raid you actually WANT but cant go because DSP is full), but if you're ok with being useless then thats your choice, really.

WTB versatility.

Agree 100% here. A lot of the time a healing item will drop and no one will need it, because the healer is too awesome for blues.
Unless your group is batshit retarded, they'll probably let you have it for an alternate set if no one else wants it. Great reason to have a bit of a healing set.
I'm a good shadowpriest with no healing set o_o; Well I have a staff but it only ups my healing slightly and half the time I'm too panicked about the MT dying to equip it.
I think the shadowpriest that wont pop out of shadow to heal in an emergency is very rare, though. Not to say that no one is that stupid, but shadowpriests make up a small percentage of the population on my server and almost all of them are pretty decent players.
