Haya had a hard time imagining that this mare could lack suitors who would love to give her foals. Why didn't she have them already if she wanted them? Maybe she was waiting for true love or something. In retrospect, Haya had to admit with a bit of chagrin that it wasn't a half bad idea.
"Well... mine are still in baskets so they don't really do much yet." He didn't know quite how to respond to her statement so said something slightly disconnected but that would fill that void.

Mapiya smiled faintly " they are so precious at that stage." She sighes softly trying to push her melloncally aside. She swished her tail smiling at him faintly " May I see them?"

For a moment Haya stalled for an answer. She wanted to see the baskets? Was there anything wrong with that? A moment's consideration resulted in him mentally berating himself for being so ridiculous. She was obviously not a skinwalker. She wasn't about to go eating them or running off with one. Ayanna might like being introduced to a fellow mare, anyways.
"Yeah, sure!" he replied back cheerfully. "I might have to talk it over with their mom first, though."

Mapiya laughed faintly "You are rather new to this aren't you Haya? Of course you must consult your mare. " She shook her head again amused as she nudged his shoulder with her nose. "You are quite silly for one fully grown." She made her golden eyes wide and innocent "that is your secret isn't it?! You are actually just an extremely large colt!"

"Eeeeeh... I can be serious sometimes." Haya scratched himself behind the ear with the spade of his long sinuous tail. "But I don't really see the point of getting all stuffy when I don't have to." He could be and was serious about serious things. Jumping in the snow... wasn't very serious. If she had been hurt then he would have been serious. Foals didn't seem very serious either. Foals were fun!

Mapiya smiled impishly " bet you can't." She liked this silly stallion, he was fun and knew how to have a good time. "Are you looking forward to being a father?" She knew she would be ecstatic to become a mother.

"Course I am!" Haya's head gave a happy bob. "I don't like waiting much and all it's been is waiting lately. I want 'em to pop out of their baskets already so I can get to know them... y'know? The baskets are pretty but they're not really that fun or interesting." He was vastly curious whether any would end up with his tail, too. He looked forward to being able to teach a foal about the cool uses for it.

She laughed again smiling at the silly stallion that was quickly becoming her friend. How could she not like him? He was interesting with an open heart and an easy, infectious smile. She could easily see them becoming life long friends. "Haya I do believe you might just manage this fatherhood thing yet." Mapiya teased.

"Yeah? Course I will!" He dug one hoof in and out of the snow in a show of confidence. "Even fish can be good fathers and they're not too smart." His hoof digging became less certain and he cocked his head to one side. "Wait... they do, right? Fish, I mean. I'm pretty sure they stick by their kids."
He thought he could remember seeing big fish and little fish all swimming together, so that was a fish family, wasn't it? Once he had said the words, suddenly Haya wasn't so certain...

She stared at him for a long moment silent. He really was rather silly. When she finally realized he wasn't joking she sighed shaking her head. Ok, maybe he -wasn't- ready for the fatherhood thing.
With a measure of patients Mapiya shook her head, " No Dear. Fish do not stand by and raise their offspring. If you wish to compare yourself to a animal father I would suggest a wolf, who cares for his pups most of their lives." Oh lord don't ever let Nene hear her comparing a stallion to a wolf.

Haya's ears drooped sheepishly when he was corrected. He had thought the groups of fish he saw swimming around were families but, in retrospect, it was silly to imagine fish herding the same way that soquili did. He perked up at the wolf comparison. Wolves were something to aspire too with their swiftness and sharp teeth. He gnashed his own teeth at the thought.
"Yeah. I'm a wolf.... so you better not mess with my baskets or I'll take a bite out of you." He smirked and ducked his head playfully, crouching in what he thought to be a wolfish posture.

She tried to be good, she really did....but he made it sooo easy on her!! Before he could move she dashed forward and shoved him with her shoulder sending him floundering. Pay back for throwing snow at her. She nickered tossing her head as she pranced out of reach " oh no I can see the fish in you.... you are defiantly a flounder!!"

"Hey!!" Haya staggered and stumbled from the sudden blow, already unsure footing made more slippery in the snow. His legs splayed out beneath him as awkwardly as a newborn foal before he could regain his footing. When he did, it was with a mischievous smirk as his tail lashed out towards Mapiya's closest leg.
"If I'm a fish, I'm an eel!" He snatched at the leg, hoping to grab it and use it to pull the mare into the snow instead.

Mapiya squealed with laughter as she twisted lighting fast, she might fall but he was going down too!! Throwing her weight into the pull rather than away from it, she plowed into the startled stallion sending them both back into a snow bank.
Snorting snow out of her nose she smirked down at him "Flounder."
