People are silly. I do not care much for religion, but it can be a pain in the butt when marrying someone xp I was Buddhist and I was baptized at the age of 10 due to my mother remarrying a Catholic man. >-< I still feel regret about be giving choice.

I totally know how it feels to be on both sides of the concrete. Anyways....yeah -_-

I just ignore preachers. I don't want to hear about their damn throatshoving...I respects their beliefs but really...have respect for mine.

Agreed @_@; It's like they're so closed-minded that they think we're all gonna burn in hell if we don't do this and this and this ><;

I like the type of religious people that believe "If you're a good person in life, and do good things, you'll get to heaven". Those people I respect alot because they believe that it doesn't matter what religion you are.. x3

It is almost impossible to win an arguement against a Christian about evolution/dinosaurs/big bang.
If you say 'people have found archeological evidence', they will often say 'god put them there to make us think that.'
If you say, 'redshift is evidence that the universe is expanding', they will say that god has done something to make us think that.

Eventually, you go insane.

----

I went to a CofE primary school. They where pretty open minded. Only about half the people there were christian, and there were a few muslims.
True, they read us passages from the bible in assembly, but they also read us passages from Harry Potter.
So we learnt about stuff to do with evolution and the dinosaurs, and some religious parents complained.

----

When I go into town, there is often a group of people shouting; 'Return to god, and he will forgive your sins! If you don't, you will burn in hell!'
Hypocritical?
Yes.

Religious people sometimes think that people without religion have no morels. Most people have basic human morels; we just don't all have strict guidelines. It's like being able to move freely, without having to worry about burning in hell if we answer back to our parents, and not believing in a greater being.

Maybe being religious can help you lead a good life; but that doesn't mean you can't be a good person if you aren't.

Some people do terrible things in the name of religion. Some people do terrible things because they have no morels.

I'm a Zen Buddhist.
I'm not uncomfortable voicing my opinions, but with family, yeah. My parents are okay but the rest of my family is composed of hardcore Christians, so it's hard to maintain a respectful attitude when they say so many bigoted things.

In all honestly, I am actually scared to talk to people about my beliefs.

I go to a Catholic school, and suprisingly, people there are quite tolerant.
I told the Catholic priest there that I was agnostic, that I didn't know what I believed in but I was open to new ideas. And he said religion is one of those things where you have to look for your own answers.

I honestly like the idea of reincarnation. I like the idea of being reborn again as another human being, or as an animal.

And I also like the idea in Judaism, I think, that if you go to hell, you only go for a certain time, and then you go to heaven to learn about the Messiah? Or something along those lines? I read it somewhere, but if I am wrong, by all means, correct me.

But whenever I tell someone that, they actually have the guts to laugh at me. o_o I try to be tolerant of what other people think.
Like, if you believe you'll be a tree after you die (hahadanecookreference), then believe that. You have every right too. But don't laugh in my face about something I believe in.

So, that's the reason why I don't really enjoy talking about religion to anyone. Some people get snippy or arrogant about it, so it makes me uncomfortable.

I agree.
It's the people who shove it down your throat who actually ruin it, I would say.
It makes me not want to learn about it even more, because most of them make it sound so terrible.
And sadly, I've noticed that most of those people are Christian. :/ Which is really giving them a bad rep.

"If you don't turn over to God, you will go to hell."
"If you are not one with Christ, you will go to hell."
"If you don't ask forgiveness for your sins, you will go to hell."

Honestly, it just turns me away from Christianity as a whole. Because after you see those people, it just feels as if it's burned into your mind: They're all like that.

But most of the Catholics at my school, like Sagey said, are the kind of people who think if you live a good life, you will go to heaven. No matter what religion you follow.
