Jubs made his way to a corner of the room, unsure if it would be alright if he sat down in a chair. It wasn't like he was used to sitting in chairs anyway.

"Well, like Vale said, that one guy got captured by Blacksuits somehow, as well as some newbie. He sent some of the others out to where they're being kept, and some to a blacksuit office." There was something else Anubis had wanted them to do, what was it?

"Oh, and we're supposed to get everything you know about that Abbot guy."

Koa took a seat as far from Persy as he could get, folding his arms and slouching back in an obvious masculine sulk. Stupid goth plant lady, no one told him she had some kind of godly death-grip thing. And stupid Vale, he was obviously trying to kiss up to her. And Jubs was stealing Koa's role! He was the one supposed to take charge...

The pig-boy winced as a sensation not unlike being flicked in the back of the head ran through his brain. Just cool your heals, grunty, the voice said. The point is that you get what you came for, regardless of how you get it. You'll only make a bigger fool of yourself, and that makes me look bad too, you know.

"Bah," Koa muttered under his breath.

He couldn't help but think that the room looked far too normal for a goddess to live in. Where were the pet monsters? The sparkles of magic? At the very least, shouldn't the inside be far, far bigger than the outside suggests?

Not even a mystic fog covering the floor.

The most magical thing in the room was probably the dumpy little couch, if only for the fact that it looked like a person could get sucked into the cushions, never to see the light of day again.

Letting himself lean against the wall in place of risking getting trapped in the cushions, he listened as Jubs led the conversation. The guy could jump into vague-land pretty fast, but it was easier having him talk to Persy than doing it himself.

In fact, why did that judge-guy even send more than one person to do this job, let alone three? It just didn't quite add up. Especially when him and Koa (as if nursing his bruised pride over there in the chair did any good at all) seemed so unnecessary.

Vale scowled at the carpeting. With his speed, Jubs could've made it here and back in half the time it'd taken them to even get here. This choice of groups didn't seem very efficient.

He knew he'd probably end up eating those words later. Gods always seemed to be right in the end.

Damn "divine design."

Since Jubs seemed to be the most talkative of the three, Persy turned her attentions to him, her gaze calculating as she thought over what she'd heard.

"Abbot is a godling. The original godling for this round of the Game." She muttered a bit under her breath, then wiped away at her hair with one hand, frustrated with her bangs already. "Shamash's godling, if you want to get specific." She paused, letting the implications of that sink in.

"Shamash anticipated the Game, though, and put in his player a generation too early. Ergo, Shamash relinquishes his hold on Abbot, and ten years later, we get the second Assyrian demon spawn. You know him better as Ciro."

"Abbot's a laid-back man as he is; works in the Scene mostly, plays guitar to earn his keep, but he's powerful. Extremely powerful: he's still got some of Ciro's powers, far more experience, and on top of that, he's not blind." For the first time, she referenced the other two. "You two are younger, so I wouldn't expect you to know him, but he makes fire. A lot of it. Killed all three gorgons and the minotaur, and he's blind. I can only imagine what he could do if that wasn't the case."

Persy shook her head, rubbing her arms as if she'd just had some chills. "The fact that Blacksuits had the firepower to take Abbot down is concerning...which among the children did they take?"

This was getting worse by the second.

He didn't like to admit it, but Ciro was powerful. He hadn't realized what all Ciro had done until Persy listed it. The guy had killed four monsters? All Jubs had killed was one Harpy. To be fair, he was half Ciro's age when he did it. Maybe he'd be able to do something similar now. It looked like he might get the chance with the blacksuits.

Jubs snapped his fingers. "I can't remember his name. Some newbie I hadn't met before." He turned to the other two godlings. "Either of you know?" He didn't think Koa would remember, but hopefully Vale would.

"Oh, and Anubis gave us these." He reached into a pocket and pulled out his calabash to show to her.

Koa would've remained withdrawn, but Kamapua'a had other thoughts as he continued to prod the back of the boy's mind until he finally sat up with a sullen grumble and paid attention to what Persy was saying. It was for the best too, because what she had to give them was most interesting.

"Wait... how's he still got powers? Kama said it was just one kid to one god. If he's still got powers, then it sounds like Shamash's still got two godlings. That's not fair!" He looked at Persy, as if asking her how something like that was allowed to occur. Especially since it put him at a disadvantage! It didn't help that Koa was coming into the game so young compared to some of the others players. And he hadn't even tried out any of his powers yet!

Blacksuits... had Anubis mentioned them? "Who're they?" Koa wondered aloud, furrowing his brows to think. "I think Anubis said it was some... umm... Fen-guy? Fenris or Fenrir or something? Maybe..."

"Vlad," he added distractedly, "the other's name v'as Vlad." A common enough name heard in Vale's cultural spheres - not hard to remember at all.

No, what was more intriguing was this information about Ciro. He remembered the monsters from that day, the destruction that had hit the city - and Ciro had managed to fell four of them? He really shouldn't have been surprised; the man had been punching fiery holes through inches-thick steel when Vale had first met him.

Imagining this Abbot as an older Ciro, far more powerful - who were these 'Blacksuits' who could topple even a player like that? He hadn't ever thought much of the city's government before now. It seemed taxes weren't the worst they could do.

He wasn't surprised either that another god had cheated in the game to gain the advantage; adults cheated all the time, after all. Even his own god had utilized undoubtedly questionable ways to slip him in.

He figured it was a fact of life for gods to try and one-up each other.

...what would happen if they played Poker together?

Persy glared down Koa, a quick indication to shut his mouth. "The situation with Shamash is far more complicated, and I have no desire to discuss it with a child. Shamash only has one godling, either way, and it is Ciro. Abbot's powers are nothing more than divine remnants of his time of duty. Or would the three of you prefer to be left with nothing with your god is done with you?" She left a silent pause, looking at the three. She hoped she'd made her point.

Turning away, she reached for paper and pen at a nearby table, and began to scribble an address with shaking hands. "I need you to figure out the situation at the Badland Flats. It's a club in the scene, where Abbot used to play." For a moment, she seemed to remember something fond, causing her to smile, but she went back to her business, disregarding it. "Go find the owner, talk to him. Find out if Abbot has been acting strange, or if any shady characters have been going around the place lately. We're looking for blacksuit activity here." She hesitated, then added, "If he doesn't want to talk, tell him the Flower Girl's calling in a favor, and whatever you do, don't give him details. We don't want this spreading, and I don't want to get connected to the Blacksuits, if I can avoid it."

She stepped forward, somewhat more confident as she handed the slip of paper to Jubs. For once, she had the pleasure of interacting with someone post-puberty who was still shorter, and she intended on enjoying. "If you find anything, come back here and give me a report. And, for the love of Zeus, please come at a decent time of day?" She rubbed her eyes, then shooed the three of them away.

"You're wasting time: get out of here already. We've got lives on the line."

Jubs mentally shuddered. Despite how he hated his appearance, he certainly had no wish to be stuck on the streets with no powers at all.

He nodded as took the paper from her. Finding a store owner shouldn't be much harder than finding the address. "Alright, we're on it." Making his way out of the house, he shivered in the cold night air. "Either of you know where this place is?" He asked Koa and Vale. "I don't exactly go to clubs."

Koa resisted the urge to stick his tongue out at Persy until they were at least out of her sight. Unlike the others, the idea of being powerless didn't have as much of an impact on him, as he'd yet to really 'try' anything with the supposed powers he apparantly had. It'd be helpful if he actually knew how to use them...

To Jub's question, the pig-boy shrugged. "My parents would never allow me to go into the Scene, even on work errands. Didn't stop me, but it's not like they let kids into bars. We'll just have to head down there and see if a local can point us in the right direction."
