i dont really "get" all the stuff said about body/facial proportions
but i do know that if its done the wrong way it looks a bit s**t - eg. SLA
ive seen proportions of all blownout sizes that i think look cool/cute/nice/whatever
ive never held much stock in all that
and i know im not very good at it.
When i tried just throwing it to the wind and drawing some really messed up proportions myself, i thought it was fun. Thats what really matters to me the most i guess. If im not enjoying drawing something then i wont even finish it to REALISE that maybe it looks like s**t.
I think klars stuff is.. cute, but i'd just like to see some variation to her usual poofy animals. It'd be cool to see some gritty mecha thrown in there or something. Two of them slaughtering eachother or something. just for fun.
and i admit that "weeaboo s**t" doesnt bother me all that much either. I cant draw good as some of those people and i wish i could. IF i could, thats definitely not all i'd be drawing though - thats for sure.
Something that irks me, the term artist. Im sick of it. And its been seeded with so many bad connotations. People who go off ranting " IM AN ARRRRRRTIST *snobsnobsnob*"
Yeah, i know. Why dont you ******** off and go paint something instead of flouncing your clever little icon around your own journal then?
I try to steer clear from the term altogether. I dont MIND when people label themselves as such, but when i can name many popular "artists" on DA who vomit the word all over themselves, and then get down and roll it in to make sure? no thanks.

I can admit I'm a total art snob, but come ON. What is the point of those drawings? What can you do with them? They can't get you gallery work. They can't get you editorial work. They can't get you concepting work. They are just fanservice bullshit doodles. i dont draw for any of those reasons neutral I tried drawing in a company and i hated it. and my drawings dont have much more point than being little prezzies to give to people since i know most people like getting stuff like that. drawing doesnt have to have much of a point, imo. Actually, most times I sit down and draw these days is cuz im really bored and i think drawings funnnn. And I dont bother using DA much, but when i did it was partially just to keep an easy file on them. If i could draw naked people well i'd draw people "fanservice" all the time cuz i like pleasing people :]

i nominate me - still gettin' paid, still producing crap graphics
also mirenes, i just don't get why people seem to like that stuff... it's so tacky
I gotta agree about Ashley Wood on one hand, but he is still my favorite s**t. I mean perhaps I am hopelessly shallow but I like leggy ladies w/no pants, fighting, ********, robots, explosions and splash pages in pretty much any combination.
I mean Amazons Vs. Zombies Vs. Robots (i s**t you not, that is a real comic) is not going to win any awards for its groundbreaking approach to storytelling but it's like... I barely care. It looks frigging sweet.
Hansma: Gaia is like 1000% weeaboo bullshit. I am so sick of anime at this point in my life that I halfway wish I didn't have friends here so I could just never ever look at this place again.

slopii oooOOooo razz What is the difference between all of us or some DA looser and a REAL artist? I have a love hate relationship with Ashley Wood. I love the style of his art but am very annoyed that he releases 8 million covers for each comic... RIPOFF. The stories are blatently crap and people only buy them for the art. All the covers should be in all the comics. Plus he only ever draws robots having sex with women, or women having sex with themselves. I hate him for being really talented but wasting it on s**t comics and endless re runs of the same crap. Thank you. I thought I was the only ******** person who thinks he is a bullshit storyteller. My husband is near-obsessed with his work.

A vs Z vs R is the best comic he has done imo, simply because it plays on all his strengths... drawing hot women and robots and people fighting. I'm a bit of a freak when it comes to buying artbooks.... I have his popbot collection, the sparrow series and grande finale... plus some posters and a signed limited edition print. Oh and the tank girl comics in singles up until I got bored with the s**t stories... Every time I am in my local comic book store I get excited to see he has done something new (the man is a machine, you have to give him that) but then feel jaded that its only slightly different to the last £3.5 comic with siz different covers The stories aren't that good, lots of his characters look/act/are the same so What is the point of me ever buying anything more? I think his storytelling could be so much more, its so great to see a comic using artistic expression to tell the story not just illustrating the expression onto people as you would see irl. When his characters are angry its all scribbles and ink sprays which imo expresses the story in a much cooler way. He just needs a half decent story and put some effort into it in stead of producing a million comics of the same s**t. That said... I will be buying the rest of A vs R vs Z <3
