longlived i do not like to consider myself a weapon. I would like master the staff or the knife, becuase they are the most practical weapons for the average american to know. Almost anything can be used as a staff and it is legal to caryy knifes where as a lot of areas have heavy restrictions on guns, swords, nunchuks(illegal nationwide without a note from an instructor) kamas, etc. Nunchaku are illegal to carry? Event he small metal retractable ones? Very weird.

DarklingGlory Iconised Ghost DarklingGlory Statistical fact: If you carry a knife you are far more likely to get cut/stabbed. There's also a saying about knife fights that is very true. Winner drips, loser gushes. To illustrate that point, with a partner, both put on old rubbish white tshirts you dont want anymore, then "spar" with large marker pens and see what happens... I doubt that statistic is based on anything other than correlational data though. Correlation doesnt imply causation. It might not be that you are more likely to be stabbed BECAUSE you carry a knife, it could be that the stat is based on the fact that people who carry knives are people who are more likely to get into knife fights in the first place. I know, off topic >.< But dont you see? Thats one and the same thing. If you are the type of person to carry a knife, you are the type of person to get in a knife fight, ergo you are the type of person to get stabbed. Either way its a bad result. yes that was my point, sorry i thought you were implying that you wouldnt want to carry a knife because it would in itself increase your chances of being stabbed >.<

Tiger Hook Swords, freakin hard weapon to learn, but are so amazing. Also wouldn't ,ind Jian (straight sword), Dao (broadsword), or spear.

Either of the following (In order): Shuangdao (Double Broadswords), Guandao (Pole with a [dao] blade on the top end), or the Bō (Staff).

The kwandao is a nice weapon (it was introduced to me as kwandao, not guandao). The one I used had a metal pole with a metal ball at the end, instead of a wooden pole with a spike at the bottom. My master was showing it to a sifu, a sihing, and me (brown belt), and the other two thought it was heavier then it looked, while I for some reason, thought it would be heavier, lol. I was able to move it around with ease, which was pretty surprising since it was all metal.

Interesting weapon, I think I've seen it, but whenever I look up Kwandao I just end up with the one with the blade. Would you be able to find a picture of it?

Oh, it still has a dao blade at the top, it's just most of the kwandao I've seen have a dagger like point at the bottom of them, while the one I used had a ball.

oooh, oh right. That's normal then, I guess it's just said differently then. They are tipped with so many things on the bottom.

Yes, my kwoon just had renovations done and our weapon rack now has double axes, a pole axe, and a monk spade! Can't wait to use em.

Wow, nice weapon rack.
The training hall we use is part of a martial arts store (owner is chairman of kung fu association thingy), there is a seriously awsome weapon rack there, but sadly it's all for show. (No touchy lol). It has elbow blades, daos, chinese hook swords, jians, and alot of other weapons I can't even name at this point. So many to remember >.>

I think I'd do a knife with a chain attached to the end. 3nodding
