"Why walk you home when I could invite you to st--" He caught himself before he finished his sentence, face falling slightly as he took a step back. "My apologies for being so bold. I just..." He coughed, trying to regain a smidgen of his dignity... If he really had any; sometimes he was convinced that 'dignity' was more a game of make-believe.
"Ela would be horribly upset if she found out that you had come to visit and I had whisked you away without saying hello... That is... I am sure that neither my mother nor Ela would mind it if you stayed..."

"Oh really?" She looked up and smiled brightly at him. She had never stayed with anyone other than her own family. It would be nice to speak to Ela again and maybe she could ask the other mare about why she liked the ocean so much. "I think i would like that."

"Really?" Now he sounded like a suprised foal as he turned to look at her, unable to believe that she'd actually... Agreed. "I mean..." He snorted softly, giving his head a light toss to try and find that 'cool' again, no matter how lost it was. "Should we begin walking back now then? The setting sun is just as beautiful from the beach as it is from the cliffs... And it would be better than testing the rocks once it begins to get darker."

"Oh, yes. That does seem a better idea." She wouldn't like taking that path in the dark. It wasn't dangerous but she wouldn't trust low light and a possible horrible fall. She didn't have wings to save her if she slipped.

"Follow me then." He smiled softly as he lead her back the way they'd come, completely forgetting about the slight ache in his wing for the moment. Everything seemed oddly light despite the darkness that he knew was on the way.

She followed after him down the cliff. The path was still the same and she remembered it slightly from the last time she had been down it. The climb seemed to take less time this time around and soon enough her hooves were in sand again.

He walked as carefully as he could along the sand, keeping his grumbles to a minimum as he lead the mare closer to the sea where the sand was more solid. Rather than turn and tell her it wouldn't be far he closed his eyes as he walked, listening to the sound of the waves splashing. There were some things to be enjoyed about the sea... The sounds were certainly one of them.

She walked along behind him enjoying the sound of the ocean and the way the sky slowly changed colors as the sun sunk lower. It was pretty out here. It was a little odd her mother hadn't ever told her about anything like this. It just seemed odd to think that her mother hadn't ever seen it before.

He stopped after a few more paces, turning towards the sea. "If we keep walking we'll miss the sunset... I know the way back to the cavern well enough that I can lead you there in the dark. You'll just have to stay close." He nodded slowly before looking at her.

"That's fine." She smiled at him as she turned and looked out toward the sunset. Without thinking about it she shifted closer to him anyway if only because it was nice to know someone else was there.
"It does look ... so much different than usual"

He tried to keep his wings from twitching as she moved closer, not wanting to startle her with the touch of feathers no matter how soft or slight it may be. "Something about the way the light hits the waves makes it seem so much... Brighter... It's one of the few things I miss about the sea when I am alone in the woods."

"You should come back more often then. It's lovely." She tilted her head a bit and watched how the waves in the water made the colors that the sun reflected shift against each other.

"If I came back more often it would not be as special as it is... And I might enjoy it less. There would be more sand in my feathers." He flexed them for emphasis, unintentionally brushing them against her side before drawing them back. "Ready to continue on?"

"Cant we... watch a bit more." She looked over at him for a moment. The sun hadn't set all the way and he had told her that he could walk her to his home in the dark. There weren't many clouds and it should have been a large moon so there would be some light also.

"We... Could." He nodded slowly as he looked to her for a moment only to turn away quickly rather than catch himself staring. "After the sun sets... Usually later at night... You can see lights dancing in the sky. The only place that I've ever seen them appear clearer than here is out on the open plains."
