"I find it hard to sleep sometimes, being cold all the time." He briefly wondered how much darker it would be all curled up under the snow, and decided that was a horrible thing to think about. It would be better to just focus on getting something to eat.
He led Thea down the shortest path to the meadow, and trotted right out into the full sunlight where he stood for a minute to gather some warmth. He might have been hungry, but the sun just felt so nice...

She wandered past him, wings fluffing slightly in the warmth, and right for the patch of green she could see. "Ooo ... i haven't seen this much green together since the last thaw." She'd been scrounging meals mostly as of late.

Kal brightened as Thea commented on the meadow. She seemed to like where he had taken her and it had been awhile since he had been able to be of use to anyone, so the little stallion was cheered perhaps more than he should have been over something so small. "I-I've been around here all winter since the grass is still pretty good. You could stay if you wanted..."
He immediately felt his cheeks heat up. "I-I m-mean, i-if you like the m-meadow, n-not many others come around here so there's lots to eat." He didn't want to give her the wrong impression, but he wasn't sure what he just said was any better.

She tilted her head and after a moment smiled. "I might. There is plenty of open sky for me to stretch my wings out. Plus there's the green grass and the river not far off."
It was all in all a nice little piece of where ever this was. She had been hoping to find somewhere that had a good supply of food until winter loosened it's grip and spring came back.

"R-really?" Kal asked brightly. His first reaction had been to happily perk his ears, but he quickly realized how inappropriately eager that must seem and tried to squelch it. What on earth was it about that mare that was making him so self-conscious?
The little stallion ducked his head slightly and disguised his sheepish look by turning to better catch the sun's warmth. Hopefully she wouldn't notice how awkward he had become since running into her. "I-it would be nice t-to see someone else around, i-it's been really quiet here since the first snowfall."

"Don't see why not. Since you offered i wouldn't imposing." She smiled and nodded. It was kinda cute that he was overly eager to have company. She did have to wonder though if he wanted company so bad why he hadn't already found it. Seemed silly to be alone when you didn't want to be.

Kal would have beamed if he wasn't so busy trying to stop himself from showing any unwarranted emotion. She wouldn't be imposing in the slightest, far from it, she would be doing him a favour by hanging around his little meadow. It would keep him from going crazy before the snow and uncanny silence disappeared in the spring, he would just have to relax a little or he'd certainly scare her off...
"I'm glad you'll stick around," he said, keeping the over-eager delight out of his voice, if not his gait as he pranced over to a thin patch of snow and pawed to uncover the grass underneath.

She laughed softly and shook her head a bit before she nosed in the snow for something to nibble on. He was a little over eager but he was good company at least. Seemed smart enough to hold up a conversation and didn't ask her funny questions.
She could stick around here for a while happily.
