This is a bit of a side comment, but shouldn't we NOMINATE captains instead of captains trying out?

Then it would be more of a charismatic thing rather than who's responsible or not.

I think that should be up to the team to decide...

^^

And if so, then I'm going to nominate Empress_Cat for Ravenclaw...

^^"

'Cause then we might end up with captains, that we don't necessarily like or whatnot.

I'm not saying htat I hate everyone in this guild because it's not true.

I like almost everyone!

Ah-HA! A subject which has never been proposed! Well done!

Yes, nominations were something I, too, have considered; but I found a minor flaw with the idea:

In order to nominate Captains, there would have to be teams. We coun't just have people who are not even involved in, or don't care about, Quidditch randomly nominating people. Teams would have to be constructed prior to nominations.

I thought it would be an easier task to host Capatian Tryouts, and then the Captains can form the teams. But considering your suggestion, it's a possibility that people may not tryout simply because they dislike the selected Captain. Therefore, I propose this idea:

Captain Tryouts will be held, and the Captains selected. Captains will commence gathering team members; but at the same time, members who would like to be part of the team, but dislike the corresponding Team Captain chosen may write Madame Hooch with their complaint.

I also suggest that complaints may be sent to Madame Hooch by anyone, ABOUT anyone who has been "bothersome," or "disruptive," at ANY time. This will smooth out conflicts in all areas, not just with Captains, and keep everyone happy!

Madame Hooch would take these complaints to the person they concerned, to be discussed. The name of the person who sent the complaint would remain annonymous; unless told otherwise. If a person recieves an ENORMOUS amount of REASONABLE complaints, that person may be subject to elimination from his/her position.

Not that nominations are a bad idea, but I would only want those involved with Quidditch nominating them. I'd also like Team Captains to be in charge of putting together their teams, so they are still first priority.

I'd like to know if this is a proper solution to the problem. Please send feedback.

IMPORTANT!

Ok! A few VERY EXCITING things I need to mention:

1.) It's no longer required that 7 players are on the pitch at ALL times! The LEAST amount of players you can have on the pitch is 4: 1 Seeker, 1 Keeper, 1 Beater, and 1 Chaser; but BU's are STILL available to help out!

2.) The Captain can have ANY position on the team! (He/She doesn't have to be Keeper!)

3.) And Editor and Reporters have been added to the "Extra Characters" section! We're considering a sort of Quidditch newspaper!

4.) Remember: It's ONLY CAPTAIN TRYOUTS for now. As soon as 4 Captains have been selected, the Captains will be hosting their Team Member tryouts. All 4 Captains will be selected before the end of January, (if all goes well.)

5.) Yes! I'm VERY happy that we've met our main goal of 28 people! This doesn't mean, however, that voting has ceased! PLEASE continue to vote! It will make me feel more secure, the more people we've got! ^^

Thank you all SO much! Quidditch is becoming more refined by the day! I can almost HEAR the quaffle whizzing passed my ear! THANK YOU! 4laugh

I totally support the idea of a Quidditch newpaper and am willing to be a reporter if it happens.

This seems very organized, and I'm impressed. I support this, even if I don't make it onto our team.
And if not, I'd love to just be an audience member.

I haven't seen you around here, or anywhere else in the guild, before! It's a pleasure to meet you! ^^

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!

User Image

TEAM CAPTAIN TRYOUTS have begun!

If you are enterested in bein' your House's Quidditch Team Captain, feel free to viset the thread and send en your applications to Madame Hooch (xTahirux)!

Don't miss out! You could earn your House some points in the process!
PostPosted: Sun Jan 06, 2008 8:58 pm

Question: Don't you think 1000 pp is perhaps too many points? Isn't that the fun of Quidditch? Attacking a threatening player until they get benched?

Wouldn't 250 pp or 500 pp be a bit better?

This sounds absolutely fantastic! I think it's brilliant how this is set up. I have one suggestion, though. For level one questions missed, you lose one pp, and for a level two, two points, and so forth, correct? Well, wouldn't it make more sense to take away more points the easier it is? If someone missed the question, "What is Harry's godfather's name?" shouldn't they lose more points than someone who missed, "Who is the author of the Standard Book of Spells series?"

Can't wait for team member "try-outs."

I see where your brains come in! mrgreen This is VERY observant of you!

That would make sense! This way, it would be more "rewarding" for players should they get a harder question right, and "not rewarding" otherwise! This would make life a bit easier on those who may have worried about being "smart" in this game! LOL! Wonderful advice, indeed!

Yes. This has been breifly mentioned before. I was originally thinking that we'd stall setting exactly how many points one would receive until we had our trial game; (just to see how far a certain amount of points would get us,) but the more I think about it, the more I'm in agreement with you. 1000 is just too much.

I think 250 may be a bit TOO short. We are trying to get as many points as possible each. . . I say we'll have it pre-set at 500 pp., and we'll see how THAT number does in the trial game! 3nodding If it STILL doesn't work out right, we'll modify accordingly! ^^

Therefore, here's the new changes:

IMPORTANT!

Due to the arrival of two, very good points made, a few more modifications have been made:

1.) PP./Difficulty levels are now different!

2.) The beginning amount of pp. each player has is 500, not 1000!

**Both of these changes can be found in the "Gameplay" section!

Thank you guys! Those are EXCELLENT ideas!

And are the house leaders and mods going to play, too?

Or would that be unfair?

(Just curious...=])

I've added a link to this Quidditch thread in our Index Sticky, and another link in the Index to the Gameplay/Rules post(s).

We're keeping Quidditch in the main forum for awhile (maybe permanently), so that will make things easier to find.

Also, our revered Guild Captain KimCL is re-designing our Guild Front page.
Those with sharp eyes may have noticed that 2 tributes to Quidditch on the page have been added!

Sounds like a lovely plan, Tahiru. My only mention would be how simple it could be to just Google the answers or something, especially if you're a fast typist...perhaps a time limit?

Also, I'd love to be involved in the Quidditch newspaper, if I'm not on the actual team.
