Well, the time has come to finally set things in stone (or at least mix the concrete... ^_^). Based upon input from the election discussion thread (Dukes's decisions one) the elections will be performed as follows:
Details:
Votes for all rounds will be PM'd to a mule and when the round is over, Nymphie will count the votes. And not that we don't trust her, but the votes will then be double checked by myself, and triple checked by any crew that wishes to do so (though no crew is obligated to do so). Once the votes have been tallied, the winner(s) will be announced, and the next round (or the anointing of the new captain) will start shortly afterwards.
The elections will be held as at least two rounds, a preliminary election, and a final election, with an additional runoff IF circumstances necessitate such. Each voter, during the preliminary election, will be allowed 2 votes (subject to change, but it probably won't) for DIFFERENT CANDIDATES (you can't vote for the same person twice). The top 3 candidates voted for (subject to change, even upon circumstances, but it probably won't) will then progress to the finals. Each voter, during the final round, will be allotted 1 vote. The winner of this round must win by AT LEAST 60% of total votes, or else the top 2 candidates will progress into a runoff election, which will be held like the final election, except for the fact that only a minimum of 50% of votes will be needed to win. (I really don't think that both candidates will get less than 50%... ^_^)
Also, of importance, no mule, nor any non standing members of the guild, will have their votes counted in the election.
Dates:
Wed. Jan 9: Cutoff date for new candidate submissions; all declarations of intent to run after this date will be ignored. Please submit your application for your intent to run in "The List of Running candidates" before this date if you wish to run.
Thu Jan 10 - Mon Jan 14: Time allocated for election preparations. Election mule will be set up, any assistance needed in running the elections (if necessary) will be asked, and candidates can use time to announce that they're running and what they plan to do once elected. Also, good time for voters to discuss and prod candidates before the elections begin.
Tue Jan 15 - Sat Jan 19: Preliminary elections will be held during this time. Span is 5 days. See above for details on how the election will be held.
Sun Jan 20: Votes will be counted, and winners of the preliminary elections will be announced.
Mon Jan 21: Time alloted for preparations for final election round (if necessary). Runners who won the last round can use this time to restate whatever they wish to make known.
Tue Jan 22 - Sat Jan 26: Final round of elections will be held during this time. Span is 5 days. See above for details on how the election will be held.
Sun Jan 27: Votes will be counted, and winner of the final election will be announced, excepting a "tie," in which case runoffs will be held as stated.
Mon Jan 28 - Wed Jan 30: If necessary, runoff elections between the two "tied" candidates will be held during this time. Span is only 3 days. See above for details on how the election will be held. If runoffs are not necessary, then Nymphie may "captain" the winner.
Thu Jan 31: If the runoffs were necessary, then votes will be counted during this time, and the winner will be announced.
Fri Feb 1: Final day in which captainship of the guild will be transferred to the winner of the elections.
