It has such high expectations, and it wont do well if people keep on shooting it down. People need to stop being stubborn and negative and just wait for it to come out before they go insulting the team that is working very hard on this to make it happen...for YOU.
I talk to Michelle about it as much as possible and it seems that shes trying so hard to keep everyone happy, even the elitists...which is a tall order for a company which already has a reputation. If you think it's going to be bad and such then ignore it and go back to looking at the Japanese mooks, no ones forcing you to take an interest.

For me? I know everything I need to know about the fashion. It's the newbies that are the ones who are gonna end up looking stupid if something in that book goes wrong. Unfortunately only Michelle knows what she's doing out of how many other people? I talk to her too, and your point is?

-...quand le soleil sera couché dans ton âme froide.- My point is, can you please stop acting so elitist. Everyone who has bad mouthed this is being imature. Com'on, I have been into this fashion for well over 4 years now, I know what i'm talking about too but you don't see me going around bad mouthing it saying I know enough about the fashion to not care for what Tokyopop are doing.
Fair enough newbs are going to see it and perhaps there will be mistakes, but who knows if the Japanese bible is just as bad? No one can tell that unless they can read Japanese. And please, just because it has pretty pictures and idols within the fashion world, doesn't mean it's amazing and that everything it says is going to be true.
Everyone starts from somewhere. I'm sure some of the opinions you had on Lolita were quite amusing back when you started enjoying the fashion, everyone, at some point, was a newb. It's nice for people to be able to have something in English that they can refere too. And so what if America basterzises the whole fashion, at least you know what your talking about and that you know, deep down, that you are a true lolita.
And yes, for YOU. People like you and me, thats who they are making this magazine for, Gothic & Lolita's who go on and on and on about who they can't read the Japanese bibles and how they wish they could.
This is as petty as the Hot Topic fad, it seriously is.

"Acting elitist". That's rich. You fail at trying to be condescending, which I think is supposed to be an "elitist" trait? Oh my. I am helpful when I want to be, and those who are lolitas thanks to partially my help are appreciative of my help and advice, and they feel the same way about the English bible, whether partial or wholly or whatever the hell, because they know what is going in there.
Oh yes, I was a newbie once. But I started perfect. I read up on everything. And so what if "zomg I can't read Japanese?" The point? And besides that, lol, I hardly LOOK in a Japanese mag other than looking at the clothes.
btw, thx for being so positive about it, but if you hide the negative articles that ARE going to be in there, then people on Gaia aren't getting a full view of it, are they? Therefore, your reporting of it is useless, really. I'm not just being "omgsomean" for no reason. Obviously other than just talking with Michelle I have DEALT and seen the other editors of the articles. Where are your positive notes about that? Oh wait, there is none.
Good luck at trying to be more condescending next time.

oh those photos are pretty!
as for the translated/redone GLB... I think I'm going to wait and see what other people say after they've bought/read/reviewed it before considering getting a copy :/ idk of it'll be worth $20, as I'm mostly interested in patterns...
I just hope it won't make for a whole ton of itas because of bad examples in the English GLB or anything

They've probably already started on it. From what I understand, they want to release them at the same time as the Japanese copies. So. That would mark it for February and May for the first two volumes. Even if the first one sells badly, I'm willing to bet they'll keep it up and sell a second volume. Given the responses of some communities versus others, the first volume will probably sell well.
Newcomers to the style will buy it for sure, cosplayers have already expressed interest, and experienced lolitas will buy it either due to morbid curiosity, or the chance to rip it apart. If it goes well, and they do a good job, then it'll definitely take off. Either way, they have enough steam for AT LEAST two volumes, and they do take quite a bit of time to prepare, so. I'm not really surprised they're already in preorders for the second one.
We'll see how it goes. So far, the only things that give me any confidence that this project might not suck are skie 0's photographs and that one article posted by Michelle. The other articles and the comments made by the editor have so far made me flinch.
If nothing else, I may buy a copy to have physical copies of those photos. Especially the cover stuff [Isn't it Briony and Layla in the photos? I may be messing up the names, here]

:/ that's not too hopeful sounding... I'll probably hold off until I hear some reviews by more experienced lolitas before deciding if I'm gonna get a copy

I'm sure there'll be a slew of reviews up when it comes out. So. Just gotta wait and see. Hopefully they've heard enough of the "you're doing it wrong!" comments that hit their first few promos and actually listened to the staff members they have who are experienced. Some of it must have sunk in, or skie 0's photos probably wouldn't be appearing in it, much less on the back cover. (:
Just gotta wait and see and hope for the best at this point.

Yeah, I don't even buy bibles like that, I just look at them in the bookstore. Once the english Bible comes out I'm gonna go check it out for myself.
