Fushigi na Butterfly First, because the Bible (God's Word) says that outright, and because every human being is sinful.Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. From this verse we see that not only are we condemned to death because of our sin (because blood must be repaid with blood- that's why the Israelites sacrificed animals; the animals paid for their sins), but that if we follow Jesus we will have everlasting life.
God doesn't "send you to Hell." If you jump in front of a speeding bus, you're going to get hit. That's just a law of nature. If you choose to ignore God's salvation, you are going to die, not only physically, but spiritually. I have a hard time believing that God would be that cruel.

Valley of the Kings Priestley Some threads just won't stay down! xd
I have a good reason for you: Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. No one goes to the Father except through him. Ah, but will Jesus damn you just for not believing? If he is just, he will understand the circumstances surrounding one's lack of faith in him, but there are multiple times in the gospels where an apostle is chastised for it as well.

Then believe Jesus when he says that, whatever this hell will be, it will not be a pleasant place.

I know that it does seem like a long shot but I don't think that it's futile. If one heart is moved even just a little bit don't you think that's something? God never asked for success in the Bible, but just to trust him and to try our hardest.

So i should start taking part in those discussions... 3nodding

The GD does not look kindly upon Christians. Then again, they're not too kind to anyone....*points to signature*

The term comes from the Greek meaning "one who is sent out". Boom.
The remaining 11 disciples were apostles, yes, but not the only apostles.

We've all been given the order to go out and spread the word. xd Oxford English Dictionary: Apostle 1. a. (As in Gr.) One sent on an errand, a messenger. b. Applied in N. T. to Jesus Christ. 2. spec. (Now with capital initial.) The twelve witnesses whom Jesus Christ sent forth to preach his Gospel to the world; also the subsequently-commissioned Barnabas (Acts xiii. 2, xiv. 14), and Paul, the ‘Apostle of the Gentiles.’ 3. a. One who in any way imitates, or may be said to resemble, the Apostles. 'Apostle' is generally used for those sent out on a task or to give a message -- messenger, basically.Oxford English Dictionary: Disciple 1. One who follows or attends upon another for the purpose of learning from him; a pupil or scholar. a. One of the personal followers of Jesus Christ during his life; esp. one of the Twelve. b. Also applied in the N.T. to the early Christians generally; hence, in religious use, absol. a professed follower of Christ, a Christian or believer. c. A personal follower or pupil of any religious or (in more recent use) other teacher or master. 2. One who follows, or is influenced by, the doctrine or example of another; one who belongs to the ‘school’ of any leader of thought. 'Disciple' in the general sense is a pupil or scholar who follows someone to learn from him/her.
It really shouldn't be an issue but, for clarity's sake, in future I'll refer to a member of the Twelve with capitalisation (Apostle/Disciple) and a Christian without the capitalisation (apostle/disciple). wink
