((Great... Theron dressed as a woman... Scary...))
Theron looked at Arril as he spoke. Aura? He thought to himself as he listened to him. Unsure is he should really be even near Arril, he was a little hesitant to say what Arril had wanted.
"Y-you mean, what I can do to people?" He asked as he didn't know what to really say. "I-i can m-make people s-see things that aren't really there, but..." Pausing for a moment, then started to talk again. "... Wh-when I do, I get tired, and can't do much."
If he really does mean he will get us out from here, then I could really be free.

((yep!))
Arril nodded, understanding. Long ago, when he could shapeshift, he was extremely tired afterwards, often having to rest in the changed state for extended periods of times. that is how he met Sih.
"Arril, we must hurry. There is a man looking at the bodies. He doesn't look like he's very smart, but he will bring others who are, or women. We need to get out of here." Sih hissed silently from above. She continued watching the man, comparing his movements and actions with that of a scavenger.
Arril narrowed his eyes at the boy and spoke harshly, quickly. "I need you to stop studdering and act willful. I have lived in the wilderness for most of my life, and weaknesses such as hesitation or studdering will get you killed. You must act will full force in everything you do, lest you want to fall into the degredation of your status as it is now."
He waited a few moments for his words to sink in, then continued, "I once was a shapeshifter when I was younger than you. Because of what my father did, I exiled myself from my family and changed myself into what you saw earlier. Unfortunately, it was irreversable. I am stuck like this."
Arril reminisced for a moment, recalling those terrible moments of his friend's slaughter. He looked up at where sih was positioned and sighed heavily. He was glad to have at least one friend.
"With my new form, I can recept heat and balance myself better than any man. In the wilderness I learned how to read responses and instincts. How to judge living things by their movements and grouped muscles. To an extent, I know what something is going to do before it acts. I know how the land works, and how to live off it. I know how to fasion weapons. I know how to throw, as you have witnessed earlier. If it weren't for the spirits the woman who had me in her grasp had, I would not be here right now." Arril explained.
He laid the dress at the boy's feet, "I need you to sit in this carriage while I drive it. I need you to act as a woman, if someone stops us. If you know the way out of the city, then you can help me in that aspect, but if you do not, I can drive around until I see a way out."
Arril waited for the boy's answer, hoping he would agree.

(( -.-; ))
Theron had seen the man that the snake was talking about, but was unable to hear Sih. Watching him, he just wanted to get out of there. Turning back to Arril as he spoke, he really didn't want to, but he did listen to him.
He was once a human, he looks like a dragon. Theron waited until he was finished, and watched him lay the dress to his feet. "I" Stopping for a moment, as he couldn't believe that he was being asked to dress up as a woman. "You mean, I have to dress up as a wo-woman?" He asked, although he already knew the answer.
Picking up the dress he looked at it, as if he didn't think that wearing it would really do anything, but as long as it got him away from this place, he would be grateful, but he hated doing so. Taking the dress, and throeing it over his own clothes, he looked up at Arril, and had a look of dissatisfaction((SP?)). Nodding as he was told that all he had to do was sit, as Arril drove, he walked over to the area where he would sit down, and sat there.

(ahahaha, that makes me giggle. xd I know I have a warped sense of humor sweatdrop )
At first the horses were quite skittish and started off at a trot, but as they spilled out unto a better-used street and saw other horses, it became clear that the acceptable pace was a slow one. They began to fall into line on the correct side of the road, content to go straight on even in the absense of direction.
They would see a variety of street-travel over the next few hours as the horses' nerves had a chance to calm down; ornate carriages intended only for passengers, blocky ones for cargo, and even many bicycles which also carried passengers, letters, and other small deliveries. While Theron might be used to such sights, Arril had missed seeing any bicycles on his way up. Once you left the capital, a bicycle was a rare thing, especially on the long roads between compounds, as Arril had traveled.
At first they were ignored, but as word spread about the murders, the people around them began to travel more briskly and look worried. Theron and Arril would probably hear all sorts of wild rumors not only about the murder itself, but also what the local guards were doing about it. Rumors ranged from: traffic stops at the inner-city border that led out to the thinner sprawl of small farms and single-family housing; an elite detail of soldiers sniffing out the murders; dogs the size of small ponies joining the search. Every time a single horseman or bicyclist wizzed by at above-average speeds, it was hard to say whether they carried news or instructions regarding the incident and search. But except for a couple of shops in the inner city closing earlier that day, life seemed to go on in a normal fashion.
As they angled out of the heart of the city, where the political buildings and hotels were cramped together, they approached the dense markets that surrounded the heart on all sides. Here the aisles became wider, but also filled with temporary and permanent stands alike. Despite the close of some of the shops, the half-full market was still a crowd, especially to Arril. The further they got from the crime scene, the least crowded it got, but also the more they might stand out. And then, of course, there was always the question of food and supplies. Although there had been plenty of clothes and the like in the carriage, the group had most likely planned to replenish at the market. It would be tempting to try to add to their stores here, with the money they had found in the packs.

((ow...))
Arril watched all the strangeness of the city in mulled over fascination. How he would like to watch what was happening in the city, or inquire what some of the strange things that he saw, were. Riders on anorexic(sp), mechanical animals, so many different buildings, both great and small, various smells that both pleased and discusted him, people dressed in the most elaborate, ornate clothing he has ever seen, and much more. He could only keep his head low as soldiers looked his way, appearing as modest as possible.
As they neared the market, Arril pulled the carriage to the side and consulted the animals, rubbing their legs and necks, telling them of freedom and the end of their shackles. He couldn't stand to see the animals with the harnesses on them. They had probably only known work all their lives, much like most of the men in this country. He was limited in his ability to communicate with them, but at least they understood him to an extent, and the two horses were taking a liking to the lizard man.
"Arril, there isn't woodland to leagues here. I suggest we buy some food for the journey." Sih informed Arril, hissing softly in his ear.
The horses stamped uneasily. Though they had grown to respect Arril, they feared Sih. They knew that running wouldn't buy them freedom, though. "I know. staying at an inn like we did along the way here, will be a problem. We may have to travel all night." He told her, turning to the carriage.
He walked to the door and opened it, looking in at the boy. "I need you again. We need to purchase supplies. obviously if I go in alone, we will be captured. When we enter a place of business, I need you to act as if you were supervising me... if the shopkeeper suspects anything, we'll be in trouble." He said, hoping the boy understood.

((Yea, but I only have just a scratch XD))
Theron had watched Arril the entire time as they traveled throughout the city. Seeing as him react to the soundings, he knew that Arril had barely ever been in the city. All the smells that where in there, didn't bother him, due to the fact that he was used to them.
Seeing that they finally arrived at a local store, he waited in the carriage, until he was told to get out from it. "Supervise? But you are older than me." He said as he got down from the carriage, and looked at the door.

Arril glared at the boy until he could realize that men were subordinate to women in this society, no matter what the age. "Just come in after me and point at things you need. I will carry them for you." Arril said, his voice an exasperated hiss.
He started towards the store, a newly aquired coin purse hanging from his belt. It jangled with coins as his boots clopped against the cobbled stones. Such an ungainly way to walk... he longed to curl his toes into freshly tilled earth, but he was struck by the reality of the tight-fitting boots. he would have to alter them. "You walk like a fawn." Sih joked, her coils tightening against his chest affectionately.
Arril huffed, glad his hood was up. His scales were a pinkish-green from emberrasment. "When we get out of this place, I will never conceal my tail again. I will never walk in these cursed clumsy boots either."
They walked in silence for a while and as Arril stopped before the shop door, Arril rubbed his cheek against his familiar's own. "Nothing will happen here. I will kill anyone who tries to take you from me again." He whispered, loosening his knife. He had left his bow in the carriage, and he felt naked without it.
Looking back to see what the boy was doing for a moment, he walked into the general store, selling everything from farm equipment, to clothing.

Theron who was now dressed as a woman, had followed Arril's directions. Walking oddly for a woman, he tried to 'imitate' how a woman would walk, not knowing he was walking unlike a woman, but more like a person trying on high heals for the first time.
Looking back and forth, feeling people's eyes on him, he had hopped that no one would noticed that he was a guy in a woman's dress. Almost tripping a few times, he followed behind Arril, and tried to make it seem like he was a woman, but was doing a poor job of it.
He had stopped from time to time while in the store to look at some stuff that he had never seen before. Seeing some candy on a shelf that was as low as his hand, he went to slide the candy into one of the pockets in his cloak, forgetting that he was wearing a dress for the moment. The candy fell to the floor, causing a noise, making him jump, and look at the floor for a second, before continuing to catch up to Arril. As Arril had sold some stuff, he himself was starting to get a little impatient.

(I'm skipping a bit of time here because I had a better idea than getting them in trouble at the store xd )
Because it was nearing the end of business hours, the man behind the counter looked fairly bored, and Arril and Theron were his only two customers. The general store was in a permanent building, but half of the shelves were empty from the day's purchases. Except for dried or canned goods and other produce with naturally long shelf life, the store could not afford to stock more than would be bought on any particular day. That meant that their choices were limited but fairly appropriate for a long trip.
Flour, salt and pickled, dried, or canned fruits and vegetables. And above all, horse feed. They'd better not forget that! As for non food items, Arril and Theron pretty much had what they needed already from raiding their victim's packs. The only thing that the shop did not sell that they might have wanted were weapons for hunting or fishing, because the store serviced the inner city.
The man stared at them with a dull expression and tallied their bill in his head as they piled things on the counter. "Make it quick," he growled under his breath at Arril as they stood at the counter. "I don't want any trouble." What he did want, however, was profit, which their purchase would help with. The more profit, the better his standing with his owner and supervisor, who would, of course, be a woman.
If he or any one outside reported any suspicious activity, the two would most likely not get wind of any one on their tail until after they left the inner city for the sparser farms. Traveling through the night would not prove too suspicious, as Theron would be able to tell Arril, but it would of course make them stand out in the event of any sort of routine stop by an authority figure.
It w as the middle of the night before they were stopped by any one. Another carriage had gotten stuck in the mud on a narrow road, at the mouth of a bridge, and appeared to need help getting out. "Hey!" one of the men called out with an air of authority to Arril and Theron's approaching carriage. "May we use your horses?"
A woman standing beside him, lit by a lantern set on the ground, gave him a quick but light shove. "Behave yourself," she hissed, thinking that no one could hear. Then, raising her voice. "We do not mean to be in your way, but our horses do not seem equal to the task." Her request for help, by contrast, was demure.

((What sort of time frame are we looking at here? I thought this was supposed to be medeival. Canned goods weren't invented until about the late 1800s... Jarred joods were sort of common, but still, I thought this whole story was based in like, the 1300s or lower...))
Arril had never seen some of the things that he encountered in the store, and he had to have help with selecting foodstuffs for the boy. He didn't buy so much food for themselves, as when they exited the city, Arril could hunt using the bow he had lifted from his foe. He got the horse feed, some dried beef for the journey out of the city, and some basic supplies that the boy instructed him to get.
The ride out was uneventful, and Arril was able to talk to Sih freely. "What will we do with the boy when we get out of this settlement?" He asked sih, having his own ideas.
Sih had been resting against his neck, and she roused slightly so she did not have to hiss loudly. "Ditching him seems wrong." She offered, going back to her original position.
Arril sighed. ditching the boy was exactly what he was going to do. The boy didn't even offer a name for them to call him. He discontinued conversing with sih, as he could tell she was tired from a day of eventful happenings.
He was caught off guard when the stalled carriage called for help, and a woman with a lanter came into view. It was dark, and he could hardly see anything. He gripped his knife tightly, ready to throw it at a moments notice. He tarried just a moment before answering their call, searching the area for any signifigant sources of heat that might be hiding nearby.

Theron was growing bored as they traveled through out the city. Looking around as they had traveled he had laughed a little as he saw some people struggling to do the tasks they had to do. Finally glad that he wasn't being told what to do anymore, he was starting to feel better than what he was before.
As the two of them had come up to a carriage asking for help, Theron sunk down some, hoping that no one there recognized him. Realizing that they where slowing down, he looked at the people that where there. Not recognizing them, he sat back up, but had hid his face, but making it look as if he wasn't trying to hide.
Wanting to leave as soon as they got there, he had hopped that they wouldn't even be there for more than one minute. Looking a little discomforted, he had grabbed for his weapon, and waited for something to happen. We should haven't stopped. He was thinking as they where getting closer to the forest.

((I'm going to assume that Arril cant detect anyone nearby with his hear receptors and his sense of smell.))
Arril sniffed the air. Satisfied, he looked back down at the two people, wondering how they got stuck. "We are on an important task. What are your intentions?" He called to them, hoping they would step up the pace.

(Also, whatever else I may say about technology, I'm actually not...an expert...on when what was invented... when. xd ANACHRONISMs!)
The woman bristled, straightening and throwing her shoulders back. She didn't quite snarl, but the body language was there. "Unless you can sprout wings and fly, you're going to have to help us because you can continue on your...important mission."
The man that she had silenced earlier stifled a snicker as he stopped the horses in their work. There was no reason for them to risk breaking legs and wheels if there was another carriage there to help them. Two men, both lightly armored with swords at their sides, approached Arril and Theron's horses. They were poised to unhook the horses and transfer them to the other carriage, as soon as the word might be given. Both men had excellent posture and seemed particularly alert and nimble. It was at this point that Theron might notice the straight swords-- odd, since most decent swords in Feretris were curved.
This was the only bridge for miles, and the water it crossed was torrid from recent rain higher up towards the mountains. If they did help the other carriage, there would still be the problem of crossing over the same mud.

Theron had listened to what the woman said, as he kept his hand on his dagger. Looking around, he hopped that no one would recognize them.
Looking over at the horses that the two people had. Then he looked at their own. Seeing two people nearby their own horses, he paid no heed to them, and just continued to look around. Giving the two a second look, he noticed that they had straight swords. "What the hell?" He asked him self, as he moved some so he could get a better view of the two. Not saying anything as he thought that the two people who seemed to pop out of no where.

Arril jumped down from the carriage quite randomly. coupled with his mysterious 'lack of a face' from his cloak, and the awkward way he walked, he seemed very alien indeed. "Stay away from the horses." Arril growled, his harsh accent putting unneeded menace in his words.
He had no need to place his hand on his dagger. He was a push away from the instinctal blood lust that had massacred his former captors. While he noted the posture and the way the two men carried themselves, he was sure he could dispatch the one nearest him in an instant, but the second one would be a challenge. Not to mention the threat of magic from the woman. If he had to act, he must take out the woman first.
He longed for a second knife, but one would suffice. Gouging the soldier's eyes out would disable him enough for now.
Sih tensed, coiled against his arm, ready to be thrown. She hated this country; she was ready to begin another journey through the untamed country with Arril, not fight a hundred fights. None the less, she would kill whoever she was thrown at. a bite through the jugular wasn't a wound one could get over without the side effect of death.
Arril ran his hand up the horse's flank, reassuring the feeling of 'freedom' he had promised it. He kept his eyes on the men, waiting for what they would do, or a call from his "master" in the carriage. He had control of his instincts, but only if he was not offended by the strangers' actions.
