Aphismet had been following, making sure to keep just as much distance as he could get away with, wary of any movement that might put Chloe in danger. Hearing Cody talk like that, talk of not only killing Chloe but taking over her life, made Aphismet's entire being shake with outrage. He wanted to do something! He couldn't let the man get away with this! He'd already had his threat thrown back at him, his bluff called...
But then, as they entered the kitchen, Cody lowered the gun. Aphismet's eyes narrowed to tiny slits and his lips curled up in a grin. Finally, an opening! his mind barely had the time to think before he sprung into action.
Faster than even he himself thought he could, Aphismet rushed forward, closing the distance between himself and the two Star siblings with one strong leap. Aphismet extended one arm forward to slide between Chloe's shoulders and Cody's chest. The chef's other arm pulled back, fingers curling into a strong fist. Fingers gripped Chloe's shoulders and pushed her forward and away from Cody, while Aphismet threw all his strength into his other arm, sending the fist colliding with Cody's face. There was a loud, muffled crunch.
Aphismet grabbed Chloe and pried her free of the other man's grasp before he even fell too far. "Roux!" he called, motioning for him to grab Chloe if he could. Aphismet still had to make sure Cody wasn't going to shoot them. And, he still had to fulfill that promise of killing the man responsible for all this. Murderous rage flashed through Aphismet's usually shy features. He'd slam Cody's face into the floor of the man's own kitchen until there was nothing left!

Cody's eyes widened as his head jerked to the side, causing him to stumble back - it wouldn't be hard to pull Chloe from his grasp as he crashed against the wall. He reached up to gingerly touch the corner of his mouth, pulling his middle finger away to see blood at the tip. A soft chuckle issued forth and he slowly stood up, brushing his hair back out of his face to look Aphismet dead in the face.
"Struggling will only ensure that you are caught just that more securely." He swayed forward, turning the gun around in his hand to weild the butt end of it dangerously. He lashed out toward Aphismet, aiming to crack the cold, hard metal over his head.
Roux moved forward, taking hold of Chloe as she stumbled. He clutched her tightly as she fell against his chest, frost materializing over her hair. Chloe shivered, wrapping her arms in turn around her Frei and pressing her face against the ruff of his collar. She gave a soft muffled sob - she never thought she'd see him again, afterall, much less ever be able to hug him this close.

Aphismet grit his teeth and ducked easily s he advanced, receiving Cody's down-moving arm on the shoulder harmlessly. Aphismet's own hot fury was a direct contrast to Cody's calm, cool insanity. "You're ******** crazy!" Aphismet screamed, now so close to the other man that he could smell Chloe's scent on him. "All you'll catch is my fist to your face until you can't breathe anymore!"
The white-haired man turned his shoulder back again to try and grab Cody's gun-weilding hand. If Aphismet could do that, wrapping his own fingers tightly around Cody's wrist, it would then be easy for him to take a step back and slam his other hand forward on Cody's elbow, breaking the man's arm. Let him try to shoot them or hurt them then!

Cody reached forward smoothly, taking advantage at Aphismet's reckless fury to grip his wrist long enough to move out of the other's grasp. He leapt back smoothly with feline grace, crouching with his arms in front of himself to guard. "Your lines are rather cliche. What's the point of talking while trying to hit someone, you'll only waist your breath."
He smiled cockily, moving to step behind the dining room table. Slowly he circled around, keeping his eyes locked on Aphismet, waiting for his next movement. He calculated carefully as many possibilities as he could, trying to leave no room for variables.
"What sort of fighting technique is that? Karate taught by some red-blooded american in some high school gym?"

Cody was right. Talking was useless. Aphismet had missed the man's hand, and now the other had escaped to behind a table. Hah. Having to hide behind a piece of furniture. Cowardly. Just as cliche as he was accusing Aphismet of being. But this time, Aph didn't waste his time saying so. He had to act, he didn't want to let Cody out of here intact. Or alive if he could help it.
Adrenaline pumping through his body, Aphismet used his instincts, which were screaming: Your environment is a weapon too! Use the room against him! Faster than he normally would have been able to, Aphismet dug his fingers into the back of one of the dining table's chairs and lifted it, throwing it at Cody with a scream, leaping onto the table immediately after to either land on the prone man, or catch him with a kick as he's dodging.

Cody swayed to the side, dodging the throw of the chair - this did, of course, leave him rather open to Aphismet's feirce kick. He calcualted time only to lift his hand before his face. The force of Aphismet's foot against his wrist was more than a little painful, though he hid the fact well. He pushed back against the other's foot, hoping that his balancing act on the table was weak.
A smile seemed perpetual on his face as he and Aphismet wove together. He was enjoying this, very obviously.

Aphismet didn't have time to grin as his foot made contact with Cody, even if it was just a wrist. The blond man was pushing back against Aphismet's foot now, trying to throw him off balance. Aphismet had made sure to anchor himself as well as possible before kicking, but in full extension like this it was hard to remain upright. Aphismet felt his balance failing, and immediately he stopped trying to fight it, instead letting himself fall to the left and rolling off the table, landing on his feet in a low crouch.
From here, with the table no longer separating him from Cody, Aphismet readied himself for another lunge forward, fist pulled back for a punch.

Cody saw the punch coming, bringing his hand forward to meet and catch Aphismet's fist tightly in his own hand. He pulled the other man forward, so their foreheads were nearly touching. He spoke in a deadly velvet voice, so only the other man could hear what he said.
"She's the most adorible when she's just gotten out of a shower. Soft and clean..."
He brought his other hand forward, fist clenched tightly as he threw a hard punch into Aphismet's side, somewhere between his ribs and hip bone where it was soft.
He let go of Aphismet's hand and weaved back, lifting his head haughtily.
"Aphismet!" Chloe gave a soft whimper from where she stood with Roux near doorway. She was able to stand on her own now, though Roux held an arm protectivly around her shoulders. His head was bowed forward, the air around him and his guardian chilled enough to cause Chloe to shiver with both cold and anxiety.

Aphismet felt his hand caught and pulled forward. He would have had time to break the hold, had that chilling voice not sent a distracting flash of hot anger through him, followed closely by the painful contact of a fist to his midsection.
Aphismet fell back against the wall near the window, the breath knocked out of him. A painting jarred itself loose from near Aphi's left shoulder, falling to the floor and causing the white-haired man to stumble as his foot stepped onto it.
Aphismet saw white spots swimming across his vision, and his mind took on a fuzzy, cottony quality for a moment. Therefore it was without his direct knowledge that his body moved, going on instinct only, knowing that Cody wouldn't expect him to recover from that hit quickly. Aphismet watched as though from a television set as his legs tensed and propelled him forward, fist curling back again, then springing forward to connect with Cody's jaw again, the same side as earlier.
As soon as his fist had begun moving forward, Aphismet's senses returned. By the time the chef moved back into a ready position, smirking at the blonde, the dots had left his vision and his mind was clearer. He still felt a dull, aching pain in his side, but he ignored it for the time being.

Cody spat blood onto the plush carpet, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. Light had erupted behind his eyes as Aphismet's fist made contact, and something definatly felt either broken or sprained. "Oh, so it has to be that way then?"
He swayed forward, weaving back and forth to make himself an unpredictable target. Cody struck out, with fist, feet, and the butt end of the gun he still held in his hand. Sharp, painful jabs that would take it's toll overtime. He dodged a few blows that Aphismet tried to return, grinning as the other man gave him the perfect opening...
Cody grasped Aphismet's hands, bringing his arm forward to hook around the other's waist, forcing him to bend at an angle. Cody hooked his foot around one of Aphismet's ankles, tripping him to the ground where he forced him onto his hands and knees, pressing the gun tightly against the back of his neck, metal biting into flesh.
A slow, cruel smile that Aphismet couldn't see spread over his face as he leaned over Aphismet's body - he'd forced him into an embarassing submissive position. Leaning forward he dropped a kiss on Aphi's neck, near the muzzle of the gun. "Check mate."
"Cody, stop it!"
Roux had to hold Chloe's wrist to keep her from trying to run forward and intervein. She looked desperatly back at her charge's face, pulling at the grip he had on her. "Roux, do something!" Tears had begun to fall down her cheeks as she struggled futily.
"Tired..." He felt so... hopeless. But his energy had been badly sapped in his attempt to destroy the locked door. What he lacked in physical strength he'd been able to make up in magical, thankfully, but now even that was depleated.

Aphismet hadn't been expecting the other man to be so fast all of a sudden. He'd never given any indication that he could move like this! Aphismet fell back from the small blows that made contact, at first shrugging them off easily, but soon starting to feel the effects of so many hits, no matter how small, always to the same areas.
Before he knew what was going on, his mind starting to reel from the strikes, Aphismet felt himself falling to the floor, on hands and knees, the cold tip of something hitting the back of his neck. His eyes opened wide and he inhaled sharply, ignoring his lungs which were now fighting for air. His heartbeat rang in his ears with surreal loudness, and he heard everything in stark detail.
The disgusting smack of lips on his neck, accompanied by the prickling feeling of goosebumps, then that whispered voice. Chloe's outcry, her begging Roux for help. Roux's response.
Chloe was still here? Trying to get to Aphismet! Trying to stop her brother. How far would she go to keep Aphismet safe? Would she promise this monsterous blonde man anything he wanted? Would she say that she'll stay with him, she'll send Aphismet away? No! Not after all this, not after she'd finally been found, so close to being free...
"C-chloe... Run! Run! Get out of here, quick! ROUX, take Chloe away, save her! SAVE HER!"
Aphismet knew if he moved, Cody would shoot him. But if Cody moved, Aphismet would attack. They were indeed in check mate, but Cody was just as much prisoner here as Aphismet was. Chloe was out of his reach for the moment.
"Forget me, just GO! Get the cops!"

"Move and I will shoot him." He tilted the gun against Aphismet's neck, jabbing it forward so that he was forced to bow his head further. He glanced over his shoulder to send his younger sister a soft, lazy smile. "Go ahead, though. If you really want to, he'll probably tell you that you're life is more important than his, and it really is. I'll get you back eventually after I've played with him a little longer."
Cody shifted, shoving Aphismet down onto the ground and pressing his knee into his back, digging in harshly. This gave him more opportunity to move around, despite his hands being taken up by both the gun and holding Aphismet's hands above his head.
"No... N-NO!" Chloe's fists clenched at her sides as she stood her ground. "No! Cody y-y-you... s-selfish... s-s-spoiled... you..." She struggled with emotions to get her words out. "Y-You're my brother! I love y-you b-but..."
She took a trembling step forward, not really sure of what she was doing. If she could distract Cody maybe... "I like Aphismet."
Very slowly the Ice Frei glided along the far wall, trying to go unnoticed. He'd located something that demanded all of his attention, all of his focus.
The refrigerator.
If he could just reach it...

Aphismet grit his teeth as Cody threatened to shoot him. Of course he would do that. And Cody's prediction was true, Aphismet would much rather die saving Chloe than live and fail to set her free. "Chl-Ah!" Aphismet's voice was cut short as the gun shoved into the back of his neck and a knee dug into his back, forcing him to bow further, inhaling sharply through the pain.
If only the blonde would relax, slip up, just for a moment! That's all Aphismet would need! If he could straighten his back, he could spin out a leg to sweep Cody's feet out from under him, and send him tumbling to the ground. But there was no such opening. Not yet, anyway. Aphismet kept trying to look for it, concentrating on the feel of the cold metal gun against his neck, waiting for it to tremble or lift away or move...
Suddenly Aphismet's eyes snapped open wide and he struggled to glance to the side, staring at Chloe. She likes him. She'd said... A small, elated blush spread on Aphismet's cheeks, along with a tiny smile, but he quickly banished it all, his expression turning to pleading instead. "Chloe, just GO. Leave me, please!"

Something twitched in Cody's expression as he looked at his sister with cold reguard. "How's he better? He works at a restauraunt, Chloe. I make more money in a few hours than he does in two days."
Chloe shook her head emphatically. "B-But... but your my brother. I can't love y-you that way..." She winced as Aphismet called out to her to just leave him. "N-No, Aphi!"

Aphismet didn't know where this was going, but he could sense that Cody's attention was split. Soon enough, the blonde would give Aphi that opening he was waiting for... But Cody was focusing on Chloe too much. He might-... He might hurt her!
"Chloe, please!" Aphi begged, near desperate.
