Silverpaw padded out of the apprentice den, snow had fallen and a crisp sheet of white lay upon the ground. Silverpaw let out a purr, the sight of fresh snow always made her want to smile, but she knew leaf-bare brought dangers, prey shortage, storms, illness among the clans.....she padded forward, the top layer of snow was crisp and hard and it supported her weight. "Wow," She murmured, she had been always mystified by snow, she probably should go find Seastar. "It would be fun to be a kit again, wouldn't it?" She asked herself, "tumble around in the snow all day." The wind was already beginning to chill her, and it ruffled her fur, giving her a sort of puffed out appearance, the earth she was walking on was like iron, cold, flat, and hard. She suddenly stepped on a slick, icy patch and with a cry, fell, hitting her chin, she got up, her pride was the only thing that was hurt though, she hadn't fell hard and she hoped that no one had seen her fall, imagining that she must have looked rather stupid.

Seastar, ready to welcome a new day, trotted out of his den and into the frosty morning. Glancing around after a nice stretch, he saw his apprentice, Silverpaw, and trotted over to her; but before he got to her, she fell to her knees and quickly brought herself up again. Good, he thought, amused. With the skill to easily maneuver on ice, she will be an excellent warrior. As he approached, he noticed the ground get a bit more slick. Out of the blue, he toppled over on his side with a quick yowl. he'd had no time to dig his claws into the ice; a new year brings new surprises and new worries, too. He would have to watch out for patches of ice similar to that in the future, and help Silverpaw identify if they were safe or not- he hoped she was ready for icy chills up her spine!

"Hello, Silverpaw," he mewed, playfulness shining in his eyes. "This is awkward, huh? Oh, well. I think I can get up. I hope." Paws searching for hard ground, Seastar dug his claws into the metal-like ice. It seemed harder then the year before, and it made him wonder if it was just him, or if this was uncommon. Finally, he forced himself up; a pretty difficult ordeal. "Now then. Let's grab some kill, and we'll be off for the day."

Fallenstar let out a great yawn as he awoke from his peaceful slumber. The snow fell on him overnight and, through the hole in the ground, his burrow was covered in the white flakes. Shaking his light brown fur clean of the snow, he got out of his den and glanced at the sky. The clouds were beautiful rolling across the light-blue sky, the occasional bird casting a shadow over the plains. Leader of the PlainsClan, Fallenstar loved his Clan and would do anything for them. Fallenstar's mismatched eyes glanced at the Fresh-Kill pile, which was extremely low so he left the Fresh-Kills for the Elders and Kits. "Time to hunt for fresh-kill," he muttered with a slight frown.

Despite being Leader, Fallenstar occasionally went on hunts, but stayed out of battles with enemies like Foxes or Badgers. Even more occasionally, a Twoleg would appear on the Clan's territory and threaten the safety of the Queens, Elders, and Kits. That's one problem that needs to be fixed soon... Fallenstar thought, but knew he couldn't truly do anything about it. However, because it was Leaf-Bare, the Twolegs didn't travel often. Digging his claws into the frozen ground as much as he possibly could, Fallenstar started pacing around.

((Sorry if it's eh-ish. On a time limit, really.))

OOC:

Everyone- because it will take so long to get the clans active, I am getting rid of MountainClan and ForestClan. Sorry If you were going to join one of those clans, but this isn't a guild, and I know it is hard to make this board active. Also, I am planning to make a guild based on this EXACT roleplay, but I need 9000 more gold and some admin people. If you would like to help, mail me. I want this to be big!

Mosspool stepped from her den softly and carefully, her bones chilled at the sudden cold that streaked up them. Breathing in for support, she continued out towards the small, lightly-covering bunch of twigs and leaves. It was a new day, and that meant that her apprentice should be ready for training. Before awoke the young cat, however, she decided to check up on the clan and see that everyone was fine. She crept into each den, quickly checking that everyone's health was fine, and murmuring thanks to StarClan that her ClanMates were fine. Contented, she set out back towards Snowpaw's den. She was a lovely apprentice, and Mosspool knew, deep inside, that she would be wonderful for the clan, and very helpful for herself, as well. Then she began to wonder about herself. Would she die before she became an elder, or would things work out for her?

It was no time to think about it, and even she knew that. Walking around a few corners and calling out a small greeting to any cat she passed, as well as a nod for Fallenstar, she finally reached the small den, almost with the looks of a pile of twigs and leafs on top of Snowpaw. Mosspool sucked in a deep, icy breath before nudging the lump inside that just happened to be her apprentice. "Snowpaw..." she mewed quietly. "Time to greet the day with open arms. It's morning, you lazy lump, get up!" Mosspool flicked her ears in amusement; she would never truly be that mean to any apprentice, she'd just mess around. She still felt old, though her age weighed down on her like two weights strapped to her shoulders. It was torture, torure she lived with everyday; but for not much longer now, for Snowpaw would soon take her place.

Silverpaw smiled slightly, "I think the cold makes you stiff," she said, "my legs felt stiff and cramped this morning. What are we going to do for today as far as training?" She glanced at the fresh-kill pile, not much left, that really wasn't a good thing, they would probably have to do some hunting later to restock it to a reasonable level, "okay," she said, and walked over to the pile, selecting a scrawny vole, enough for her, she didn't have a large stomach anyway. When she tried to bite into it, she gave a yelp of surprise and tore her teeth out of the vole. It was frozen solid, like ice, she tried breathing a bit on it, maybe they would have to wait for the air to warm up a bit. She shook her head a bit and rubbed the vole a bit. "Mouse dung," she muttered, probably the vole would be all mushy when it thawed out a bit. "It'll probably taste awful," she grumbled, but if she was annoyed, she didn't show it, just moved the vole into a patch of sunlight. What would happen once it thawed? "Er, Seastar?" she called, "some of the fresh kill froze overnight and they're like solid ice." She moved to the fresh kill pile again, and selected a mouse, not frozen this time, and ate it quickly, wincing slightly at the icy cold flesh of the mouse as it slid down her throat, not a pleasant feeling. "Uggh," a sound came from the back of her throat, the mouse wasn't rotten or bad tasting or anything, but the frosty, cold flesh was unpleasant and her throat, mouth, and head felt a bit cold now also.

Seastar let out a mmrow of laughter at the young cats antics. Even trying to eat food like that? His apprentice was crazy! Walking over to the pile, he picked up a frozen mouse, deciding that the clan could spare it. He trotted over to Silverpaw and sat down beside her. He had decided to try teaching the cat how to eat frozen prey without pain on taste buds, throat, or stomach. "Watch," he murmured, lifting his paw, claws unsheathed, above the prey. Closing his eyes, the tom let his claws cut into the prey, and he heard a loud Crack! before opening his eyes. "There we go," he announced, sliding the prey out of its icy casing. "That's all you have to do to get out the food! Simple, huh?"

A shimmer of pride glowed in his eyes as he gobbled down the mouse, now much more edible. However, the meat was still a bit rancid. As he finished his meal, Seastar finally decided what they would be doing today. "Todays mission will be interesting. We shall head out, all around our territory, and I will teach you about ice avoidance. On the way we will practice hunting and bring back as much fresh-kill as possible. I cannot say it will be very successful, but we must try for the sake of the clan. Ready?" The leader stood up and gave his back a good stretch; he might need it.

Fallenstar graciously nodded a hello to Mosspool, the Elderly but still Medicine Cat. Speaking with some of the other members of the Clan who passed him for a short time, they all seemed to enjoy him. One of the gray, spunky kits even asked about a story, but that was the Elders' job. His mother quickly came, hushed, and ushered him out of the cold. The Elders all took prey for themselves and the Queens bit some off for whatever kits were old enough to eat solid food. Deciding he put off hunting long enough, he ordered three Warriors to hunt to the north and two Warriors to see if they could find any fish to the south. As they all agreed, bid farewell for a short time, and scampered off, Fallenstar walked back to his den. Leaf-bare was a horrible time of year for the Elders and the Clan in general. As Fallenstar sighed, a puff of air came out from his nose and he layed down, staring out at his Clan before him.

Snowpaw rolled around in the sheet of snow that was now ontop of her as she slept. She possibly could've passed for a lump of snow herself if she wasn't moving so much. Waking up on her back with her tail curled up in her paws, Snowpaw yawned, her tongue curling and her ears twitching in all directions. Hearing Mosspool - her Mentor - wake her up, she knew it was definitely time to wake up. Before she slept last night, Snowpaw remembered she went to see what herbs she could find in the snow and she realised one was tucked underneath her. Catnip. Popping her emerald eyes open, Snowpaw scampered outside the den, ready to go training for the day. "Mosspool! Let's go!" She said, loudly, her fur completely covered with the frosty flakes. Shaking them out, her fur was equally as white and fluffy. Mosspool seemed old and Snowpaw was surprised she wasn't an Elder yet, but probably because Snowpaw wasn't finished with training.

Mosspool yawned, already tired by the wind, but the sky seemed to urge her on. An image flashed in her mind of Snowpaw, but much older and easily working on herbs. She sighed with relief, knowing that this meant she was going to be a fine apprentice, not stressed by the high challenges it took to stay true to yourself, the warrior code, and your clan. Still, Mosspool knew what time was approaching. It was almost time for her ceremony. The ceremony was going to be held at the next medicine cat ceremony at the Moon---- ((I will get a vote for it later on)) and Mosspool already knew it was what StarClan had wished. She knew from her last dream with the spirits, and their message had rung true, echoing off of every tree in the area.

Suddenly she felt a gust of wind jerk her from her dream world back to reality. Snowpaw was urging her on, and she couldn’t help but follow. “Alright, then, young Snowpaw, we shall go. I wonder what we should do today. Hrm.... Let’s quickly stop by the den. We should check on her stocks.” Mosspool trotted over to the small cave-like nest she slept in and padded towards the herbs. “Ah,” she murmured, glancing down the line of herbs neatly stacked. “I suppose we do need a few things, huh?” The old she-cat glanced down at her apprentice. “Now, I suppose I should give you a pop-quiz, don’t you think?” Without waiting for a reply, she continued. “Look at the herbs we are running out of. Coltsfoot, Lavender, Catmint and Thyme are the ones we need the most of. Which would be best for the cold season of leaf-bare we are currently enduring?”
