Bella enjoyed her drink despite it being unnecessary after her slight 'game' of chase - still, it had been a good excuse to draw the stallion towards what was a more favored area to reside. Though the plains were vast, the small area embraced by a few weeping willows and other shrubbery was a spot Bella particularly enjoyed. Though it looked quaint and sparse now, the honey eyed mare had cherished its true beauty during the warmer, gentler months.
Yes, it was a woods - albeit softer than Azumoth's abode- but the pale mare adored it so. It offered her comfort when alone, and gave her peace to her spirit. Lately though, it had transformed in to a curious sort of memory - a place she could go and FEEL comforted. Though it wasn't at all like the black stallions home, it did often draw her thoughts in to wondering about the male that had somehow - SOMEHOW - filtered through her common sense and logic and took up a station deep within her heart and soul.
Amazing he hadn't a clue. . . . Well, wait - she knew he must but it was amazing how callous he was about it. Though he liked her, that didn't mean he liked her, dare she think it, love. Oh no - the latter would never come to pass but that didn't mean Bella couldn't give him what she offered - regardless of how he felt.
Lifting her head from the pond, the mare studied the small abode before turning back to face him. Chuckling softly, she pawed lightly at the ground, tail swishing behind her. "It's small, a little cozy," she agreed, eyes bright, "But oh - you should see it in the spring when the grass is green and the glowers freshly grown. With the leaves bright and soft drifting down from the willows, whispering idle chatter with the wind. . . it's. . . It's truly a beautiful place." The mare gave a small, breathless sigh as if she were swooning over some handsome stallion. "I love it."
Bella bridged the distance between her and Azu, the cogs of her mind wondering exactly where she might take him next. Honestly, she feared for his sanity . . . The places she roamed weren't exactly exciting, and were well traveled by the mare out of sentimental reasons. The hills were fun to race upon, the plains painted a beautiful evening sky, and her own little abode was a miniature woods all her own.
Truly, her life wasn't all the exciting. . . .
But there was beauty and peace to be found within. And the young mare could easily appreciate it. ((Short. D: Sorry luffie. <3 ))

[[GratS on the Sw babies. ^^ Kiyoshi actually arrived today too so I'ma have some fun with him tonight before SSC raid
Don't worry about length right now, I'm trying to get back into RP myself after such a long break >.<]]
She seemed to love a great many things, appreciated them for their beauty and the changes they went through on a regular basis. It was rare for an individual to be quite so passionate, particularly in the company of one who seemed otherwise uninterested in that which lay before him. This was of course, not strictly true given the that he had shown interested in everything she had shown him so far but all the same...Well his face rarely changed, that was about the whole of it!
"I assure you I have seen it in summer," he replied after a short while, his lips softening somewhat. It asn't a smile, but the overall affect lightened the gruff expression considerably and could have very well led to a smile if he had been so inclined. However, well aware that he had only seen such a thing from a distance he was not prepared to smile fully...given he would lose the argument.
"But given the manner in which you speak, even if I had not I would have taken your word for it," he reassured her, canting his head to the side just a little as he approached the edge of the pond. Disregarding his own appearance and feigning ignorance to his own reflection, he soon lowered his own head to sample the water that was (as he expected) not quite as 'fresh' as what he was accustomed to at home...it wasn't bad though, that much he could confess.
Nevertheless, as she spoke of her 'love' in such a tender way he was most oddly envious of his surroundings. Granted, it was a beautiful place but to have enough beauty to make a mare sigh in quite that way...well, if he was a little less rational he would have declared war on what lay before him until he was 'prettier' than it. Luckily, he was suitably more intelligent than that and therefire bowed out to the beauty of te forest and admitted that there were just some things that couldn't be beaten.
No soquili could be this.
Alas, mother nature had them firmly put in their place.
"Many claim to hear words upon the wind and I have yet to experience it myself," he mused slowly, recalling the unicorn he had met and her words in relation to such things. She had claimed to hear 'voices', ones that he couldn't hear and yet oddly she had promised he would encounter them eventually himself. Truthfully, he was beginning to think it was just a 'girl' thing - clearly they heard voices that men just were not meant to hear.
"Might I enquire as to what they say? I cannot claim to be gifted with the ability to converse with them." It wasn't intended as a wry statement, it was intended as a genuine question but the drawl in his tone as a little hard to miss.\Jealousy was a horrid thing.

Bella listened to Azu, breaking from her reverie of the warmth of spring and summer to turn her amber gaze upon his form. Her smile only grew at the softening of his solemn expression, and her plume of curls swished delicately behind her. She didn't press the matter further, content that he had at least seen such beauty, albeit not readily experience it. He didn't seem the sort to frolic within flowers, and she wasn't about to try to get him. No, she respected their differences, and though it seemed to be many . . .who cared? She wouldn't be so inclined to find a clone of herself, regardless of how frustrating a stallion she had met!
Allowing him his drink, she brushed herself underneath the canopy of leafless limbs, imagining their soft touch in spring with the buds and greenery blooming. It was good that fall and winter wouldn't last forever - that the soft and gentle allure of spring would fast be upon them all, as if to beg forgiveness for a much more aggressive and hostile season. Part of her wanted to demand what season Azumoth most preferred. . . .
But she didn't. Not yet. Perhaps later, as her instinctive assumption that the solitude and agony of winter would be his preference might indeed be proven wrong. It wasn't that he was cold, but he was distanced, detached, and didn't seem to take kindly to those that flocked to his woods. Though she was certain winter brought many within to seek shelter from the storms, that didn't mean there wasn't something good and pure about the season. Even the coldest and thickest sheets of ice would met, and one could find that the ice wsa made up of nothing more than water. A misunderstood season, one many didn't like, but a season that held many a secret and held the ability to change.
Turning back to the stallion as his voice broke her thoughts, Bella listened and couldn't help but giggle. Dipping her head, she shook out her curls before turning her gentle gaze back up at the male. "Ah, but the wind does speak of many a thing," she addressed, "Sometimes they say nothing at all, and merely chatter with the trees. Other times they speak of the weather, giving warning of what lies ahead. And yet. . . . perhaps more often than not, they speak of secrets. Secrets between you and the wind, and the wind alone. It takes no gift to listen to the wind," she added, eyes dancing with mirth. "All one needs to do is practice. If one were to listen - and I mean truly focus - you might be surprised. How often do you truly regard the wind?"
It was almost a challenge, but the warmth in her voice took out any bite or accusation. No, the wind had no visible voice, but revelations could be found if one were to focus. The wind offered a freedom that was unparalleled to any - it could travel around the world, could change it's temperament, it's pattern, and was the trail weather followed. It could be surly one moment and pleasant the next. It was wild, free, and Bella often found while she ran with the wind that her woes fell apart. It wasn't so much speaking to the wind as sorting through self revelations and ideas. But the wind could be learned from should any take a look at what it offered.

Winter was not his favourite season and it was unlikely to ever become so. She was accurate in her assumption that many found his forest while seekign shelter but this was not why he was less inclined towards such a season. On the contrary, while he may not hae enjoyed the direct company he allowed them reprieve and simply watched like a hawk from the shadows - he could be honorable, he wouldn't permit a death on his watch...not of an innocent at least.
Spring was in fact his favoured season, when the forest sprang to life within the very depths and those who were so very excitable awoke from their slumbers. Granted, they were grumpy and hungry but within a few hours of waking up they would be out and about. The news would spread fast, the gossip would be rife and the winter creatures would update those that had slept of that which they had missed.
For Azumoth, it was also a time to welcome them all back.
To say he was fond of his patrons was an understatement. So accustomed to their ways and their antics, he had grown to love all those that existed in his forest and to see the chatter return was delightful. He may not have spoken much himself but he didn't like a dead world...all he craved was one full of life but also one of acceptance. The forest always remained haunting to the outsiders who drew near the twisted branches but to those he granted access it became as wonderful as any other forest.
...Admittedly it was a little colder though.
Flexing his wings, he lifted his head once more to listen to the mare as she spoke. Taking into account the words that slipped from her mouth, he recalled that they had once been said to him before by another mare. Unfortunately, while he had tried to hear these voices he had been largely unsuccessful and he had soon chosen to ive up. Mayhaps it was not in his blood to be granted such an ability given that more often than not it was other instincts and signs that warned him of threats to come.
The mare he had encountered before had argued he was not content with his lot and that was why he couldn't hear. To pride filled, too blind, he wouldn't listen to the words of another and he could see the logic in her argument. However, unlike her he was capable of detecting much greater threats and didn't walk into unknown territory oblivious to what lurked inside...
Ah, how was he even supposed to try explaining the throbbing in his chest, the burning around the orb fimly lodged within it. Shimmering now, there were times when the tiny flicker inside exploded with life and left him with a searing pain. No one could begin to understand what that meant, other than him.
"I rarely have time to take account of the wind, if it contains a message I ask my mother," he stated flatly, his expression otherwise dubious. He wasn't attempting to be hostile and his largely inoffensive expression was evident of this fact. "As you know, she talks a great deal."
A ghost of a smile flickered onto his lips as he mentioned this, though he did resist the urge to release a hiss through his teeth as small, subtle jolt caught his chest.

Bella swished her tail slowly behind him, listening to the words of her companion. Though she didn't begrudge him his inability to truly listen to the song of the winds, she also understood that one might find her foolish to listen so intently. No, voices weren't heard but only in her imagination, her dreams, and her heart. Silly, he might call it, but sometimes the wind was her greatest release. It wasn't just words - but it held an ability to give comfort just as easily as it could cause pain and bitterness. Perhaps the wind and Bella had a great understanding of one another though, because for a good chunk of her life, the wind had been her only companion besides her shadow. In fact, aside from a few meetings with the filly Feena and a handful of others, her entire foalhood and youth had been spent alone.
Perhaps that's another reason she took the black stallions earlier admission to his like with such fond desire and hope. She had very few in her life; no friends to share her joys and pains, no companion or herd to share her experiences with. So to find someone who could admit like, who could admit that she wasn't a burden despite her previous beliefs, well. . . . it was something she didn't dare ever want to lose. Azumoth was precious to her, even if he was ever impossible to deal with and even if she refused to let herself be fooled by his tricks again!
"Ah, but you are a busy stallion, no doubt. Tis understandable." Her amber eyes gleamed with good humor, and she even managed to giggle softly at the admission of his mothers chatty state. "Ahh - Moppet." She took a moment to reminisce over the little raccoon, voice fond of obvious affection. Though they'd only met once, there was a small sliver of the mare that envied Azu. For all his pain, for all his hurt and darkness, he still had his woods; he still had his mother, his brothers, regardless of what they looked. Often the mare wondered of her own family, and what they might be like if somewhere they existed. . . .
Someone had given her birth. But who? She doubted she'd ever know.
"You are lucky to have her, and your brothers," she chuckled, casting a smile up at the stallion. Though her gaze had been captured by his flashing orb, she had long learned to disregard what it meant. It . . . . it was as natural to Azu as was his scowls and frowns and occasional coldness that caused her pain. Pain she caused herself, mind. "But I know you know," she added hastily, dipping her head to show she meant no offense by such a reminder. "I do hope she's well."

It was a shame that she hadn't recognised that this orb often acted as a tell tale sign of his mood. Flickering, glowing - whatever the intensity of the light or the state of the wisps deep inside there was always an indication of how he was feeling. That being said, it was hard to take note of something such as that when it hadn't been noted by the individual in question. To him it was trivial and something only he needed to be aware of...after all, he couldn't be left too vulnerable.
"She was well last time I checked," he mused for a time, flicking his gaze back to his own reflection. As far as he was aware his mother was right as reign that morning. She had gone about her dily rituals of yelling at his brothers, then she had cleaned up the grove by rearranging the ferns...really there wasn't really much amiss in her life. Save that she was now even more insistant about him taking responsibility for himself.
Damn Cyn for putting the idea in her head.
"But busy...?" He seemed bemused by this statement though in times gone by he would have claimed it to be true. He was no busier than any other idle male, he had simply mastered the art of looking busy. The majority of the time he spent asleep, eating...It was only when night fell and those in his forest became more vulnerable that he prowled around like a silent stalker to protect them. To claim he was always busy was a bit comical!
"Hardly." he finished at last, flicking his tail against his flank to rid himself of that irritating little itch. "I have mastered the art of intelligent neglect," he explained after a few moments, almost a jest to hi hbit for procrastination when he was presented with no orders and therefore nothing else to do in order to keep himself occupied. He wasn't one to admit he spent his days daydreaming (it wasn't very mature or a male) but he did...a lot.
"There is little to be done during the day when the creatures go about their daily business," he shrugged his shoulders lightly and returned his gaze to the mare. "I only appear busy during the evenings."

Bella listened to the dark stallions words, her smile growing as he spoke of the little raccoon. It did her heart good to know that she was well, going about her daily routine with the same old zest she understood the lady to harbor. Such a funny little one, but so delightful in her company! On more than one occasion Bella found a desire to see her again, to spend time in her company and visit. "If. . ." She hesitated, unsure whether or not she should make such a request, but Bella couldn't help herself. Curls of amber and cream swished behind her some and she gave a little chuckle, if only to ease her own uncertainty; "If it wouldn't be any trouble, could you give her my regard? Her company has been missed, I will admit - she was such a pleasant one to be around!" She almost wished to request if she could stop by for another visit, but didn't dare.
Not after. . well. . . everything. Though she was giddy and gleeful at the sight of Azumoth out and about of his own and actually visiting within her own choice of a grove, she doubted he'd appreciate such an invitation. It was his woods, was it not? She wouldn't be so rude as to invite herself, especially to such a special little place within the forest. No, that was Azumoth's realm, and she'd respect it as such, without getting entangled within it purposely. She'd tossed herself at him once before, after Malice, and feared to do so again without necessary reason.
Her ears twitched some as Azu continued to speak, and she couldn't hide the expression of surprise that graced her features. He wasn't busy? She hadn't expected such a candid response, but in reality, she often didn't see the male. Two of the three meetings had been met in the dead of night, while the third had taken place during that of a storm. What he did on his normal hours, she really hadn't a clue but apparently - from what he said - it wasn't much. "Intelligent neglect, eh?" She repeated, good-humor dancing within her words. "Well then - perhaps I can entice you to visit more frequently during your down time." It almost could have been a joke. . . had Bella not been inwardly completely serious. It was a partial tease - she doubted it would do anything but cause him to grow flustered or defensive or give her some excuse or another or say little more than a noncommittal grunt. Still. . . it wasn't a bad idea, in her own little ideal world. But then, she'd fast learned that such a world was not reality and was far from something tangible and true.
The wind blew, tickling her ears, and a silence fell. She wasn't uncomfortable, but she did wonder if perhaps she was keeping the stallion hostage within her grove, especially with her slew of questions. It still amazed her she had bumped in to him, especially after the awkward parting of their last meeting. Ah, but it had been fortuitous, had it not? She wouldn't forget this day as long as she could cherish it.

The situation was a complex one, while Cyn had taken up the mantle of the forest again he had given Azumoth a rather blunt ultimatum. It had cut the stallion to the very core and while Moppet had always said the same thing, it had been the words of another war-wearied stallion that had made him open his eyes and consider what was being said to him. In the words of his adoptive father he needed to 'grow up'...
He thought he had, but a rather long discussion between his adoptive father and himself had indicated otherwise. He was incapable of social interaction, defensive about everything, could barely express his own emotions, had an anger management issue and of course... There was that little issue of his birthday berserker stance. The list was endless but his adoptive father had been primarily concerned with only two of these things.
Firstly, the berserker rage which came annually without fail on Azumoth's birthday. A culmination of the pent up anger, hurt and various other emotions let him to a rather brutal end. Something within his mind snapped and it placed the lives of those around him in jeopardy - by the spirits a unicorn had only just managed to survive the encounter thanks to the intervention of Giruvegan.
...At his age, Cyn was right in informing Azumoth that he shouldn't have to be watched which the black stallion had to agree with.
It was rare that Cyn gave an insight into anyone's life but it had been with a distant and almost ethereal voice that his adoptive father had told him - issues from the past needed to be resolved. It was something the unicorn had said too when he had met her again, she had forgiven him and smiled but ultimately she had informed him that he could only be happy when he was no longer angry.
And to say Azumoth was angry was an understatement.
Thus, it had been with a small sigh that Azumoth had relented to the advice of his mentor and father, bowed to his wisdom and had said his farewells. Shortly after the pulsing in his chest had began and Azumoth could almost swear it had been planned. Never to be one to complain though (well not publically at least), he had continued on.
It led him here.
It was strange how things worked out but as he watched the expression of the mare change at the mention of his mother he could do nothing but offer a faint smile. While she was naive, her continued optimism seemed to make her happy - he envied her in that. However, when she asked him to send his mother her regards...
"Unfortunately I will be taking my leave for a while but you are most welcome to explore the Grove and to speak with my mother as you so please," he offered after a few moments. Tail flicking against his flank he hesitated for a few moments before releasing a sigh - it wasn't that hard to ay goodbye to someone was it?
No it was, particularly when she was being so pleasant.
"She will be glad for the company, she is rather fond of you."

Bella listened to the male and, though she found joy in hearing that she was given express permission to visit Moppet - something she very well planned to do - she found her earlier joy suddenly fading in to something . . . less happy. He was leaving?
Well of course he was. He could come and go when he pleased, couldn't he? But to abandon his Grove? To just . . . . go elsewhere for a time? Bella could hardly embrace such a concept, having known Azu to stay only within his woods. Surely he had to have left it from time to time, yes, but . . . why did it cause her alarm to know of his absence?
Her expression wavered, though she did her best to hide it. Alas, it wasn't a quick enough fix, and she knew that Azu wasn't so blind to have missed it. Dipping her head, her tail swished behind her as she forced a small smile. "I will indeed take leave soon to visit your mother. . but. . . . but will you be gone long?" She asked the latter part hesitantly, not wanting to poke and pry. She couldn't quite capture his gaze, but for some reason it . . . it bothered her that he'd leave.
She didn't like the thought, though he had every right to go where he pleased. The cream mare did her best not to show the surprise, and she reminded herself that he wasn't going away forever. She hadn't scared him off, as he wouldn't be here right now telling her such news, but part of the mare had to wonder.
He'd be back . . . . . right?
And with luck it would be sooner than later!

Well of course he would be back! This point was a given as Azumoth was a homebody at heart and the prospect of leaving the Grove forever was unsettling even to consider. While he savoured the embrace of the woods and the sanctuary they provided he had also been raised in them by a bizarre yet strong family. To turn his back, to say his goodbyes and to leave forever was something that would making him rather frightened himself.
Alas, this wasn't the case and while he was not prepared to admit his motives for his sudden departure he was certain that the ever honest Moppet would inform the mare. It was cowardly to dump the responsibility on his mother but at the same time a part of him suspected that the mare might try to stop him if he told her himself. To be honest, this was not something he could afford to risk given he may very well accept her request.
No, he needed to do this.
With the dark cloud looming over his head he could already sense the approaching 'doom' - some might call it an exageration but it was rare for this stallion to be quite so disgruntled about his own senses. This did of course, completely exclude all feelings of affection of course but did include the fright and discomfort caused by the unsettled orb lurking in his chest.
Ah, even he didn't quite understand it but his adoptive father and mentor was right. If he failed to deal with the issue now then something rather unfortunate would happen later. With each birthday his berserker side would emerge and each year it would get worse...it was now, after many years of enduring this torture that he had finally made his stand. He wanted to fix it but to do this he needed to go.
He needed to say goodbye.
Unfortunately, he knew very little about the true extent of his rage and the depth of his vulnerability to that which he was about to encounter. Alas, life was all about learning was it not? It was simply ironic that Azumoth would thrust himself into a potentially deadly situation after all the preaching and lecttures he had given to the mare that now stood before him!
"I do not know," There was little more he could say in relation to his travels, he knew nothing of what lay ahead of him and to make an estimate would be like shooting himself in the foot (metaphorically speaking). "I will be absent for as long as is necessary," he added after a few moments before releasing a sigh.
"A word of warning though..." he canted his head to the side, his expression suddenly more bemused than anything else. "You will find another soquili present in the Grove other than my daughter," he confessed at last. Clearing his throat, he shifted his weight into a more comfortable position.
"My mentor no less, but he is completely harmless I assure you."

So he didn't know how long he'd be gone. The cream mare studied the dark figure before her, curls tickling the back of her legs as a small gust of wind danced through. A silence fell, and Bella knew not what else to say, her own a little cloud forming over head. To say good bye made it sound like it were permanent, but perhaps he was merely being polite?
Maybe.
It wasn't as if he'd shown up to find her directly, had he? Had she not come trotting over the hills, would he have searched her out? Maybe, maybe not. The mare was unsure whether or not his travels took him through the plains coincidentally, or if he had planned on coming to dismiss himself from her presence all along. She didn't dare ask, as it made little difference now; they had bumped in to one another, and now he was letting her know he was to be away for an unknown length of time.
The mare swallowed and gave a nod, not pressing the matter any further. Oh, she was curious to know where he might be heading, but knew it not her place to push. If he wanted to tell her, he'd let her know; they might be friends, but she wasn't about to assume she was suddenly a confident! Still. . . her imagination whispered distant lands, with other dark coated stallions similar to him. Or perhaps there was an elegant lady with a coat like midnight, and an elegant veil similar but softer to his own? Would his wings take him in to the farthest reaches of night? Was this a trip for his own sanity, or was it business? It could be anything, and he could meet anyone. . . .
"Well I wish you a safe journey, wherever you might wander, and a swift return!" Bella blinked, and might have flushed if it were possible. Pawing at the ground, she forced a little chuckle and hastily added, "At least swift when you do decide to return for if you find pleasure on your journey's, than I'd hate to wish you back so soon. But. . . I mean. . . well. . . Your friends and family shall be here waiting, of course." She finished weakly, averting her gaze quickly as she knew she sounded like a blabbering fool.
"You'll be missed."
There.
Clearing her throat lightly, she quickly focused on his earlier words, something about a mentor. . . His mentor nonetheless! Bella's cream ears pricked in mild curiosity as she never would have suspected such a fellow to be within the Grove. At least that gave her something to do in the down time. . . right? To visit and spend time with Miss Moppet and perhaps, if she were lucky, bump in to the other stranger.
"I'll not be alarmed when I meet him," she assured gently, a small, almost teasing grin etching upon her features. She remembered her first fumbled meeting with Azumoth himself - and though he HAD alarmed her at first, she had quickly discovered he wasn't so cruel as to eat her. . . only argue. Would this mentor be similar. . .?
Who knew! But she did secretly hope to find out.
"I don't want to keep you from your travels; forgive me for distracting you with a tour!" Bella partially apologized, wondering how soon the male would have to be off. A small part of her mourned over the loss. . . but she reminded herself he would return eventually. Of course he would! He was Azumoth, entirely indestructible. Besides which, it was just a trip. . . . wasn't it?

Had he been of a lighter and more laid back personality then perhaps his friends and family would have jested about potential love affairs and scandal that might occur on his trip. However, to link Azumoth to any sort of female other than his mother, his daughters or Bella was utterly ridiculous and would have been laughable in itself. Unfortunately, until he was capable of admitting his true feelings it would forever remain a mystery to the poor mare in relation to how he felt.
...She was after all young, unsure.
Alas, as she babbled on he smiled faintly at her words. There was no doubt in his mind that she was trying her best to express herself. Granted, she had never had an issue with expressing herself before but she seemed to be doing something different. It was hard to pinpoint, but it was as though the mare was attempting to make herself sound stronger? Or was it that she was trying to reassure herself of something he wasn't aware of?
Urgh, women were a mystery.
Nevertheless, as she finally finished her babbling (most of which he had followed), her simple and succinct words were enough to p***k his ears. There were few in the world who could utter that statement in such a genuine manner - it caught him off guard but also caused his stomach to somersault. He felt like a little colt again. It was unsurprising that a part of him was glad to take his leave now. While unfamiliar trials lay ahead of him he was fairly certain none would cause such a chaotic stream of emotions to rush through him.
"Thank you," it was the first time he had wanted to say more but pride had its way of rearing it's ugly head at the most inopportune of times. He refrained from saying anything more...simply because he didn't want to babble!
"The tour was a pleasant one," he added, bowing his head somewhat as he began to back away from the mare. "But it is without saying that I must take my leave now. There is no doubt in my mind that we shall see each other again."
There - he'd said it!
"Just be safe." He finished, spinning on his heel with such a finality that there were no more words that could have been shared as he left the willow grove and made his own way towards an uncertain path.
[[Now ZOMG to plottage! =O]]
