She stuck out her lip slightly as Embry moved away, and was about to complain until Sai took his place. Red eyes looked up at her instead, and she blinked with each pat to her head. The words, although she couldn't understand them, brought a little smile to her face. Until her nose quivered and she let out an even more violent sneeze, complete with a little burst of flame from her mouth.

Embry was left standing and staring at the heating box, his sense of sound reahing out to hear the others. Thank goodness the other adult was around, otherwise the male may have lost all his senses. This time to back away was just enough to help control his jittery nerves. A ding broke his stare, and he reached in to grab the warmed meal.
Padding slowly back into the room Embry made to sit, paw extending out and sliding the bowl to the kit. The warm and cinnamon scent would be enough to lure her hunger to its target. Thankfully, Embry had missed the fire display. That for certain would have made his body cave in. DX

Sai backed away in surprise as the burst of flames came from the little one's mouth. "Oh dear, that must be quite the cold you have there." The female approached the baby once more, curling her tails around her for more warmth.
Her eyes peered over towards Embry and the bowl before turning back to the little kit, "Can you manage on your own, little one? Or do we have to feed you with a utencil?" She asked with a smile.

Beingt too young yet to speak, she didn't say anything as the bowl was slid infront of her. She blinked at it and tilted her head, before sniffing at it. It smelled good, thus she inched forward and sniffed at it some more before lightly lapping at it. It was a bit chunky... but soft enough that she seemed to manage okay.. even if a bit dry. And it was sticky! Licking up a mouthful, she smacked her lips and made an odd face at the stickyness.

Watching on quietly, the grey angelic backed an inch and sat down, front paws crossed and head laid ontop. "Seems she'll eat it anyway she can." Amusement danced in his expression at the kit's reactions to the food. Her first meal; he had forgotten. At least it was warm and more filling than a berry.
Darker tails brushed against his side as the angelic relaxed. "Thank you Sai. I don't know how far I would have managed..." At least the kit was now calm, and could now get better from her cold.

She couldn't help but laugh at the young kit's face. At the least it didn't seem like she disliked the taste of the oatmeal, maybe the texture and stickyness, but at least it was a warm meal. If the kit didn't want another bite, they could simply heat up something more liquidly for her.
Her face turned back to the quiet male, a smile upon her maw, "It is not a problem at all. It is best to handle things with more than one person at hand. Perhaps it is best if we stay here until she can fend for herself relatively well."

Smack smack... she managed to get a few bites down before the stickyness was a bit too much... she was thirsty too... and the outmeal wasn't hydrated enough. She looked up at the two adults and made a little noise of discontentment... for it was the only way she could communicate. She listened to their words, taking in everything they said and did. She was at that impressionable age afterall.

Halo light glowed over his now widened eyes. Yes...that did make more sense, and seemed best for the kit's wellbeing. "But how long do you suppose that may be?" Fend for herself? Was that something that must be waited until adulthood? "...Alright then."
Glancing toward the abandoned kit, Embry raised a brow to its whine. What was this? She didn't like the food? But she had eaten a healthy amount so far. "Water..." The male looked to the other adult. "Can she make due with water? Or warmed milk?"

She pondered over the question for a while. He brought up a good point. They wouldn't want to stay by her side caring for her until adulthood, would they? As much fun as this was, they still had to find their lost comrades. "Maybe at least until she can communicate vocally through words?" She asked her comrade.
Indigo eyes turned towards the whinning kit, "Perhaps a bit of warm milk followed by some fresh water?" Gentle paws petted the small one again, assuring her things would get done in a relatively fast manner.

Quieting down with the petting again, the little kit stuck out her bottom lip in a slight pout. It would sure be nice to know what they were talking about... she wanted to talk too! So she started making random noises again, "Mmmeh peh fla grml" trying to sound like they were, but not really succeeding. Oh well.

Hmm, now when did speech come along? The male eyed the kit, kindly pondering how much they'd have to slow up for her behalf. Eyes widened when the young one started blubbering...something. "Well...she's communicating in her own way." Tan paw pointed to himself. "Embry." Then he pointed in the direction of his captain. "Sai." There, her first little task to try. The adult stood with tails swishing behind him, throat tight to the situation as a whole. "Hm, I'll go get the drinks then. Would you like anything, Sai?"

Her gentle eyes peered at the little kit, "What a good girl," She said gently. She was making progress pretty well. Even if her speech wasn't understandable, at least she was trying. "Baby," She said while pointing at the kit. "Good baby," she smiled.
She chuckled at Embry's response towards the baby. "At least she is making progress. And no thank you, I am quite alright myself."
Using her forepaws to cover the little kit's eyes briefly, she started playing peekaboo with the small one. "Where are you?" She asked before lifting up her paws, "There you are."

She blinked at the two as they tried to tell her words, but didn't seem to quite get what they were trying to do. However, when Sai put her paws on the kit's eyes, the girl's mouth formed into a little 'o' when she couldn't see anything. What was going on? Then the paws were removed and the little one giggled. Atleast she was easily amused. With some food in her stomach, she could already feel her strength starting to return.

The male only nodded to Sai before stepping out of the room. Only when he was out did he let his soft sigh escape. A habit, he supposed, for difficult situations. Or just plain awkward. Not that the kit was a problem, simply that he was quickly exhausted trying to figure out her requirements. Ears pressed back to the sound of giggling, and Embry set to work with the drinks. One bowl for milk, the other for water.
With front paws sliding one bowl each, the adult made his slow trail back to the room. Pausing a moment, he withdrew from the liquids, but left them some distance from the blankets and the kit. Let's just see how capable she was.

It was a good thing babies were easily amused. They were easy to please, too. Sai found this very reassuring, since they would have to keep her occupied for a while. At least they won't run out of things to do for long. But even so, taking care of the young was stressful and very time consuming. She knew Embry wasn't taking to this too well. He was already feeling tired. Even without her powers one could simply see it in his eyes.
"Thank you, Embry," she said before turning to the baby, "Go on, now." A white colored paw pointed forward in the direction of the warm milk and water.
"If you wish to take a rest, I can manage on my own until you wake."
