What of the Reviews subforum, I know that there are a few reviews in there that were not written by a VM editor, so should we leave that be?

I was thinking of moving some of the reviews of more current games into the VM subforum though.
Well, you might make a sticky that acts like a directory to all the other reviews, so that people can look them up quickly.

Also, I don't think that you should name threads "Name's Name of game review", because that seems to lock it to the property of the original poster. Leave at "name of game review" and let people post reviews in that thread. That way, if someone doesn't like the review, they can just make their own, and argue/discuss it elsewhere in the appropriate thread.

That's a good idea.

Here's the current list of Subforums in order. Change them and put them in any order you think is best.

* Nintendo Wii
* Sony Playstation 3
* Microsoft Xbox 360
* Handhelds
* PC Gaming
* Games/Consoles Q&A and Guides
* Crew Hangout
* Sheik026's "Fake Video Game News"
* HistoryWak's Word Games
* Videogame Reviews
* Technology Subforum (Discuss iPods, HD, etc...)
* Descending's VG Theories and Predictions
* Trash Can [Spam/Lame/Unwanted threads]
* General Chat/Anything Non-Gaming Related/Non-Sticky related
* GAMEINFORMER Discussion
Well, I won't rearrange them, but I think I will comment on each one, do with my comments what you will:
* Nintendo Wii // Obviously, this should stay, considering this is one of the reasons this guild exits
* Sony Playstation 3 // see wii comment
* Microsoft Xbox 360 // see wii comment
* Handhelds // since you have the other consoles defined, I think this goes without saying that this should be included
* PC Gaming // perhaps rename this other gaming devices? Or use another freed up sub-forum
* Games/Consoles Q&A and Guides // perhaps rename this to Gaming/Console FAQs, and make directories (as suggested for the VG reviews subforums), which allow people to make full-fledged guides in threads. Additionally, you can keep general console Q&A in stickies for each console, and then a fourth for "Other Q&A"
* Crew Hangout // perhaps move this to the bottom, as not everyone is going to have access?
* Sheik026's "Fake Video Game News" // uh... no idea stickify it?
* HistoryWak's Word Games // stickify it?
* Videogame Reviews // I've already made my suggestions for this
* Technology Subforum (Discuss iPods, HD, etc...) // perhaps rename it Tech Discussion?
* Descending's VG Theories and Predictions // uh... make this a sticky?
* Trash Can [Spam/Lame/Unwanted threads] // move to the next to the bottom?
* General Chat/Anything Non-Gaming Related/Non-Sticky related // rename chatterbox?
* GAMEINFORMER Discussion // uh... stickify it?

I just realized some have already been changed. Here;s an updated list.

Well, I think I've given my opinion on most of it, then.

@General-AWESOME117: Knock it the ******** off!

I'd like this still open as we didn't solve the subforum issue yet.

On topic: First, should we change the three console subforums to something else? We have most discussions on the consoles on the main page.

Second, I'd like you guys to make a final list of what all the subforums should be and where they should be when finished. (Like my example)

The specific-console-forums are useful. We just have to be more strict.

Instead of making people wait an hour or two to get a reply, we as mods allow people to post legalized subforum topics on the main page. Fast-forward a few weeks and the subforums become sluggish.

If we move all threads from the main page that belong in the subforums, chances are people will start posting there, and they'll come alive again. New topics can be linked to/advertised in the updates sticky... just until they pick up again.

Well let's get to work.... But first we should figure out the rest of the subforums so we can move everything at once. There are some like the reviews subforum that will lose it's relevance once Viking Media picks up more. Do you think a YouTube subforum would be a good idea?

We need to have a meeting with the mods and get them to start enforcing more. Also read earlier in this thread and one in the trash can in which new rules on flaming should be made/enforced more.

Oh yeah, O- - - -SMiLE- - - -O is my mule. xD

True. Let's get these subforums in order and then start cleaning/reorganizing the forum. 3nodding

I can still see the reviews subforum as having a purpose, as Viking media focuses more on a small group of people doing articles, whereas the review subforum is open to all.

Also, with respect to flaming, I think you should have a 'three strikes' system. If a mod sees you flaming, you get on the white list (that is, the 'first strike'); if you keep your nose clean for a month, you get moved off the list. If, before your month is up, you get another warning, you get moved to the red list (second strike). Once again, it will take a month of not doing anything considered as flaming to get down to the white list, and another month to get off of that. If, during your time on the red list, you do something else, you get moved to the black list (third strike), and you are out of the guild.

Does that seem to suit your needs?

It's a good idea but the problem is (not necessarily with your idea) but everyone has their own definition on what flaming is and at which point is the line crossed from debating to flaming.

Ex: Person A may not see Person B's actions as flaming but Person C might see it as flaming.

How about if flaming is seen, you ask them to stop, and if they continue, you put them on the list? Or, you could have a list of general things that people can get on the list for, and say that flaming is up to the moderators discretion, granting that any major decisions (putting them on the list/banning them) be discussed with the other moderators.

At the GDG, we have a dispute thread, where anyone may raise a dispute with anyone else, with moderators having a mediation spot, you can suggest that they take it there for resolution.

It seems like the best type.

Anyway, I also wondered if you have a system in place for allowing people into the guild, or do you just invite people that you think would fit well?

We were randomly inviting people from the VGD but we got few responses that way.

We don't get too many requests. Some just find it on their own and post a few times and some stick around. We recently affiliated with several guilds. We didn't really get any new members out of it. I have high hopes for this becoming extremely active but if course none of us know too much on doing that. sweatdrop

Here's a plan.

Nintendo Wii
Sony Playstation 3
Microsoft Xbox 360
Handhelds} Perhaps merge with PC Gaming
PC Gaming} Perhaps merge with PC Gaming
Games/Consoles Q&A > Make it a sticky in which a person can post a gaming question.
Crew Hangout - Move this down to the bottom below general chat instead of in the middle. These have to be organized. (For example we won't want the trash can at the very top)
Sheik026's "Fake Video Game News" > I need someone to contact sheik or find out what's going on with this. This could possibly be a sticky and shiek can post updates.
HistoryWak's Word Games > We can still keep this as putting all these games in one thread would be chaos. Perhaps we can change the name to include constests and this can be where we hold guild contests. The contests threads can be stickied in it. Perhaps move it above A/M/C discussion. (read bottom for that)
Videogame Reviews > Going to be a part of VM so if anyone has replacement ideas...
Technology Subforum (Discuss iPods, HD, etc...)
Viking Media
Trash Can [Locked/Spam Threads]
General Chat/Anything Non-Gaming Related/Non-Sticky related > Move right above trash can as trash can should be at the bottom but have this right above it as it is a off-topic subforum.
Anime/Manga/Comics Discussion > Move up above general chat as trash can should be at the very bottom.

As for Sheik being MIA, I got in contact with him a while ago. He has time consuming classes, a job, and up until recently, he hasn't had a working computer. He literally gets online, like, 10 minutes a day, but at least his new computer is powerful enough to play Orange Box.
