I downloaded episodes 1-13 of the FUNimation Uncut & Unedited Dub from the box set (One Piece: Season One: First Voyage), and I'm waiting for One Piece: Season One: Second Voyage (episodes 14-26 of the FUNimation Uncut & Unedited Dub) to arrive in the mail from Netflix.
If anyone wants to know where they can download the first 13 episodes (FUNimation Uncut & Unedited Dub), just send me a PM and I'll give you the download links in my reply to the PM.
By the way, the episodes are in dual audio (& subtitled) MKV format, so you have the option of watching them english dubbed or watching it Subbed or watching it RAW (Japanese audio with no subtitles)

I own everything Funi's done dubwork on, including Movie 8 and Unlimited Adventure.
SUPPOSEDLY there's hope for Unlimited Cruise and I'd love to see more of the movies out here, but so far I like the dub. Some people at Arlong Park had a few irks with some of the line delivery but for the most part it's been good.

If Funi restarted the series from ep 1, One Piece would still be on the air.

Nightmare_Kyth If Funi restarted the series from ep 1, One Piece would still be on the air. I don't think that was Funimation's decision. I think that was Cartoon Network's decision.

I adore it. You want to see how amazing it is? Watch the Alabasta movie. The final scene is too epic! Coleen Clinkenbeard's voice must have cained for days after that!

M'kay. I will now flashback to the night I saw my first episode of the Funi dub. I don't know if this is different from most of you or not, but I refused to watch the 4Kids version. Refused! After about five seconds of listening to Sanji's voice, I turned off the TV. That being the case, I was able to adjust to the Funimation voices rather quickly and had an overall positive response. I also woke my friend up at 11:20 pm to geek out about them to her. Yeah...moving on.
Luffy: Alright, let's face it. There is no one on this Earth who can voice Luffy better than Mayumi Tanaka. She has the most unique laugh ever. That being said, I still say that his Funimation actress, Colleen Clinkenbeard, is doing a terrific job. Not only does she pull off the boyish voice (that doesn't make your ears bleed) that I had always imagined Luffy having, when I had only ready the manga, I mean, but she also delivers the proper emotion for each scene, or as my friend put it... "When Luffy's pissed, he actually sounds pissed!" Overall, Luffy just sounds fun, and I'm contented with that. heart
Zoro: I really do sympathize with the 4Kids actor on this one, because he would've been pretty cool if it weren't for the crappy dialogue. Although it did take a little getting used to, I do love Chris Sabat as Zoro. Why? Because he makes him sound hardcore! Which, in my opinion, is perfect for a bad-a** like Zoro. Also, like Colleen, he's able to pull off different emotions really well. I do respect an actor that can make it sound like they're genuinely crying (Baratie scene). He has much improved since his days of Dragonball Z. Yays.
Nami: Honestly, I feel like I should hold off my final, final judgment until I've seen the Arlong arc, but, uh, we're doing this anyway. Nami's actress, while not having as much variety in tone as the two I've just mentioned, still nails her commanding and oftentimes furious voice. I believe the word I used for it was "spunky". Heheh, "Time to make some money!~" (I love Unlimited Adventure). Overall, she manages a very cute, energetic Nami. I'm happy. heart
Usopp: Unlike the others, I really thought Sonny Strait would make a great Usopp even before I actually heard him. He just has the right voice for it. Yes, he sounds rather silly most of the time, but Usopp is rather silly most of time. At least he actually sounds funny and makes me laugh! What really counts is that you can take him seriously at the right parts. Like Alabasta, for example (LOVED that scene!). He also makes a pretty good Sogeking. Very heroic. So I still stand by my opinion that Sonny plays a great Usopp.
Sanji: I will say this right now; since Zoro and Sanji are two of the most masculine characters in this series, I really don't mind them having bass-ish voices. Eric Vale (Sanji's actor) has improved gradually since starting the show, I think, as he doesn't sound as similar to Zoro as he used to. Or maybe it's just me. I do adore his "lovey-dovey" voice, though. blaugh Hilarious. He also got a lot of great lines in the Skypia arc (what they showed of it) so I like him even more. Overall, Eric makes for a very cool and rather sexy Sanji. The exact opposite of the 4Kids version... stare
Chopper: Sub-fans, don't kill me for this, but I actually prefer Chopper's Funi voice to the original as it is the cutest thing I have ever heard! And I thought Al was cute when I was watching FMA, but Brina (actress) tops that, hands down. In Unlimited Adventure when Chopper's making medicine he goes, "Lalalala~". *squee* heart heart heart Oh, and the fact that they don't switch to some cheesy deep voice when he goes into Heavy Point is also a bonus.
Robin: Beautiful. Just beautiful. The perfect amount of elegance for Robin. I, um, I really, really love Robin's voice, so it's hard for me to elaborate on it much more...Heheh...
Franky: Okay, I don't think just hearing him in Unlimited Adventure is enough for a full analysis. However, I have (thanks to conventions) actually met Patrick Seitz, the guy who voices him, and he is crazy fun! So, thusfar, I approve of Franky too.
THANK YOU, FUNIMATION! THANK YOU FOR RESCUING THIS SHOW!
Okay, sorry this is so long, but I really have to say my favorite line thusfar in the Funi dub. Oddly enough, it's from Zoro.
"Do not make me kick your a**, little girl!"
Way to be nice to kids, Zoro.

And, of course, Luffy VS Crocodile is simply hardcore. I heard on the commentary for episode 1 that voicing Luffy normally hurts her voice, and the Crocodile fight scene actually killed it. Whenever I watch that bit, I can just hear the pain building up, you know? Amazing lady. They couldn't have done better.

I always appreciate FUNimation's work because they listen to their fans and take critiques into account.
Now I have heard that some people do dislike the FUNimation dub. I don't know if you guys know this, but after initial auditions were done at FUNimation Studios, they actually sent the best over to Toei and even Eiichiro Oda himself and he handpicked the voice actors for the main characters while letting Toei Animation pick out the others.
That being said, I cannot hate any of the voices in One Piece. Everyone is spot-on and it brings me joy to hear my favorite anime in english and have it be awesome and... not suck.
Thus far, I have been purchasing every DVD of the series that comes out that I can get my hands on. Right now, I have the first four DVDs, which I think is the entire first season, thanks to a friend of mine who owns a local game shop who orders the DVDs for me as they're released. I also have Unlimited Adventure, but the only one that has thus far eluded me is Movie 8. But you can bet that, if I can find it, I'll buy that too.
Thank you, FUNimation. Thank you for saving One Piece. Now if you can save F-Zero Falcon Densetsu next, I would be eternally grateful.

I like the fact that they don't dub crazy & say dumb things like 4kids. I like Sanji's voice now, but I kinda miss the other voice cast, mainly Nami's. Chopper now sounds kinda like a girl, if you ask me...

I definitely support the FUNimation dub, myself. I only own one DVD, but that's because I don't currently have a job and had to rely on my parents for that one, so yeah... When I have a job, I'll be getting those DVD's!
The only real issue I have with the cast is Luffy. I recognize that Colleen is working her hardest and that it actually hurts her to do the voice, but personally I just am not a big fan of the voice. Sometimes I think it's acceptable, other times it just bothers me.
But yeah, I recognize her hard work (and we all have to realize that nobody could possibly ever match Mayumi Tanaka... Her Luffy is PERFECT!), so I won't let that bother me or keep from watching the DVD's, or watching it on TV if that ever happens again.
My favorite voices are Sanji's and Zoro's. Probably Sanji mostly because David Moo from 4Kids just made the worst voice ever for him. Any voice is better, but I like Eric Vale's voice for Sanji in general, not just in comparison to David Moo's. Eric Vale's Sanji is significantly different from the Japanese voice actor's yet it still works very well.
Zoro's I really like because, well Chris Sabat pretty much just has the perfect voice for Zoro. It sounds quite a bit like the Japanese voice actor to me, and that makes it even better.
But overall it's a great dub. I greatly appreciate that they've even left the original background music in. I know that's not rare for dubbing, but I just can't believe 4Kids did that. One Piece has awesome background music. Yay for FUNimation for respecting it!
