It's a certain spiral in some ways. I do looovee HIM. And while I don't entirely care for Dark Light as much as the ones preceding it, I still listen to it when I'm in a certain mood.
Now Venus Doom? Psh. In some ways it's better than Dark Light. But at the same time I just....eck I couldn't like it.

Personally i like all of their albums because all of them are different from eachother. Thats what makes the music Him makes so special to me. A lot of bands get stuck in one particular sound and then they break up because they cant let their creativity rule because they're stuck in the same s**t they made 5 years ago and are afraid to move on.. If you read any of the interviews following up on an album by Him every member will also always say that its something different from the other albums and they wanted to try something new out. So some people might not like the way a certain album sounds... Well its damn hard to make an album that'll make 100'000 people absolutely crazy in love with it. Of course not everyone likes everything they've done. We're all different, so its natural for one person to say that for an example Dark light is their favourite Him album, but another one might think its a pile of rubbish... I have songs i absolutely love on all of their albums, but if i really listen to every single one, there are also songs i would rather have seen taken off the album..

Personally, I love all of their albums. I mean, Dark Light was such a more.. upbeat, pop-like album, but it is great nonetheless. Venus Doom was, I think, wonderful. The mood was so dark and heavy, but the lyrics and music in whole amazes me constantly.
Maybe it's the fact that I just love HIM.. so.. much.. neutral
My favorite album, though, is definitely Love Metal. Their music after Love Metal really, really changed, but in some ways for the better. With Dark Light so upbeat and Venus Doom so heavy, maybe the music will reach out to more people..?
