pot certainly has medicinal benefits, it's just that the government with its anti-drug agenda dismisses them. scream

I'm on Zoloft for depression, anorexia, and post-traumatic stress disorder. (Zoloft is pretty flexible.)
I had a teacher how thought I had ADD, but it turned out I have some weird disease called static.... something (I can never remember), which is basically pseudo-epilepsy. I do have mild dyslexia with numbers. I'm just not healthy. sweatdrop

eh, we can't help our genes. we're pre-disposed for certain things, and depending on life's events, certain switches either flip on or stay off. xp

depression and add and all sorts of stuff are genetic. most adults won't admit that they have chemical imbalances. they're quick to shove labels on kids because it's only recently that all of these things have been "discovered" as physiological problems, not just kids being kids (ie, jackasses). but because it's a diagnosed thing, they're also quick to throw the demeaning "mental illness" label on as well.

i'm just sick of american culture being so quick to medicate everything immediately. yes, medication can help a lot, but nothing can get solved until you find the psychological root of the problem, why you let yourself behave in "socially unacceptable" ways.

personally, i also think that there are many major flaws in the american school system that contribute to the "problem" of add/adhd. just for kicks, i'll list them. xd
*too many students per classroom
*such a desperate need for teachers that people who should NOT be teaching are
*ridiculous government standards/standardized tests, only schools that reach a randomly chosen percent passage get money
*teachers end up teaching to the test, disregarding the need for students to actually UNDERSTAND material
*the idea that school produces mindless little drones for the workforce -- think about it. at school, you spend your time sitting in a desk, needing to go from one place to another, teachers are your direct managers, the vice principal is middle management, the principal is the building manager, head of the school district is the regional manager, etc
*schools are being treated as businesses, not places for knowledge and understanding
*because teachers are being pushed to teach towards standardized testing, they want their students to be compliant little drones. kids who don't sit down and shut up aren't the compliant little drones, so they "need" to be medicated for add/adhd.

um. yeah. i'm optimistic about the future of this country. xp

oh, and darkmagicchik, there's nothing wrong with suffering from clinical depression. it's not anything that you can really fix by yourself. you don't even necessarily need to start on any meds. just visit your doctor (or get a recommendation from your doctor for someone more experienced with mental illnesses) to talk. if you need any meds, the doctor can start you with a prescription that he thinks will work for you, based on your individual symptoms. trust me, it's much easier to handle yourself and life when you're thinking clearly. the depression is something that can take over YOU if you let it. it's something that quite possibly will be with you for the rest of your life. it's not something that can be cured, but something that you learn to manage, almost like alcoholism or diabetes.

anyways, i'm at work and have actual work to do. smile but if anybody feels the need to ask me any questions, i'll gladly chat via pm or aim or something.

i don't want meds! gonk i only speak my mind in here, so that's probably good because i come here.. psycologists are pointless- friends are nicer, especially if they can't tell on you because they don't know where you live.. wait, you do know where i live.. @_@

i never went through to read this stuff again, so...
america sucks, doesn't it? since i'm in TAG (yeah, tag- you're it.. no "Talented and Girfted" crap) my teachers actually let us discuss the stuff we learn, so that helps... they also let us get away with says some stuff that might get other kids into trouble

my mum has some hormone imbalence that makes her get angry really easy when she doesn't take her pills(zoloft). she gets really scary b/c she hits the walls and screams and, when i was little, she would throw things.she stopped throwing stuff now tho so its not quite as scary. i think my little sister(whos not even 5 yet) is gonna be like her too b/c she gets mad so easily. you could just say "danni(thats her name), go in your room to play." and she'll have this big bloody fit and start kicking things and stuff. i kinda get like that too, but only when someone really pisses me off, then i'll hit my head against stuff or hit something(like the wall, a pillow, a locker, somethings thats not living). i'm not sure exactly what it is but i guess its genitic or something since it seems we all have it or something like it.

oh, the old nature vs. nurture fight. if you're genetically predisposed for something, ie, losing your temper whikkid fast, and you grow up seeing how someone handles that (in this case yer mum) it's very likely that you and your sister will end up acting the same way.

my pops loses his temper REALLY easy, but he just spews swear word to make it feel better... my mo does too, but whats scary is she doesn't know andwhen we tell her she swears at us (the kids) and starts giving us punishments.. i almost missed a concert for school that way....
my brother is "sensetive" and doesn't even let us talk to him.. he takes everything like an insult...

"ewww, why did you put your yogurt on the couch??"
you don't wanna know what he said back...

my sis has pretty much aADHD, but is ... the brunette version of a dumb blonde; but doesn't do cheerleading
