Canis Lupus the LoneWolf
I wanna find something I've wanted all along....

I can't chose anything sweatdrop Because I want to go by the type of games each system has and all of them usually have quite a variety. So I'd have to say just about every genre of music for each. But I'd probably be pretty close with what Arvis and Sakyh think.

....Somewhere I belong
Yeah... I think everyone here are doing it on a different basis. Which is why it's like this. Some are relating the music to the type of games aviable on the system. Others are judging it by the type of gamers that play it. And some are just relating how they view the console personally to a type of music they view the same way. I took it the most literal like what does the console do and how it does it. Which is why I couldn't understand anyone saying the PS3 is anything but soft music.
Jazz ftw. Though... more like Stanton Moore versus soft Jazz. Though "Tang the Hump" makes a perfect PS3 song. Stanton Moore still. Or if you want, Autumn in Ganymede off the Cowboy Bebop soundtrack.

You can get bluesy if you like but that'd be more becoming of the amount of people that favor the PS3 and the quality of exclusives being up and down the scale.

Once it gets more games it'll probably move into a more Fusion Jazz Hip Hop style. Still along that Jazzy music, but the lyrical flow more like poetry rather then mainstream rap. Seriously though, the piano black finish totally goes with the Jazz style. Just grab a good drummer and bassist. XD

Though I have to admit I'm partial to that genre. It sounds incredible coming through a 7.1 audio set up.

What kind of ska do you listen to? Seriously? Pop Punk or Pop Ska maybe, but Ska Ska? Horns blasting everything from Jazz solos to purely reggae meshed punk, fast Calypso bass lines, guitar borrowed from Punk and Blues with a mesh of hip hop from time to time based on bands, etc. etc.

Someone seriously needs to go to a real ska club show where they just jam it out. My Oahu Surfer boy heart cries.

360 can pull off ska. Early 90s alt Ska, along with the rest of the post-punk alternative movement.

Dang, easy on the anger cocaine, little buddy! I just said Ska music in general, geez! On limewire it just says "Ska", not Ska Punk, Ska Poop or any other random imaginary genre you just said. Dang, if the songs have trumpets and rock, then I'd consider it Ska. Simple as that. surprised

Where in his post are you reading anger? I missed that.

Incidentally, when I think ska, I think early Aquabats or Reel Big Fish. I guess I'm not much of a purist when it comes to this particular genre.

Me neither, seriously, rock music is rock music, not 1/2 drum solos in D minor or any other complicated genre that doesn't exist. And I sensed the anger here:
Someone seriously needs to go to a real ska club show where they just jam it out. My Oahu Surfer boy heart cries.
sorry, I didn't mean anger, I meant arrogance. He was being a slight showoff.
Anyways, yeah, I think that the Wii belongs to Ska music. Oh, and change my Xbox 360 genre from Nu-metal, to hip hop & R&B, because it's basically one console for the money, two for the show, three for the honeys, and four for Master Chief's popularity dependence.

People should be allowed to show off the things they're passionate about without being called arrogant. smile

I was going for more snarky sarcasm of the Harvard school boy in a whimsical fashion....

Hip Hop evolved from Jazz, though the poetic nature of fusion Jazz Hip Hop remains on the underbelly of the modern day scene.

Rock n' Roll evolved from Blues, which some bands continue to play taking inspiration from The Yardbirds yet not really diving into the various Blues scenes.

Calypso predates both Reggae and Ska. Ska predates Reggae. Calypso came from the Carribbean, evolving from both the island sounds when combined with a Jazz style and Rock.

Pop Punk comes from the Post Punk Revivalist of the early and mid 90s alternative. Bands like Green Day. Punk, which is ruled by simplicity in how it's played forgoing the trademarks of Rock n' Roll, plus a more accessible pop sound.

Pop Ska is of the same mind. More pop melodies, a more mainstream sound. The pop ska movement came around the same time as the Post Punk Era (often referred to as the Seattle Movement or Grunge scene.)

The majority of modern music was pioneered by people of Black descent. Not African American because the people where Jazz and Blues primarily were played were in areas dominated by those of Caribbean decent. Such as Louisiana and the Delta Blues.

Rhapsody in Blue is a good example of a "Jazz" orchestra.

Where Ska, Rock, and Punk is flourishing is in the Japanese and Korean live scenes. Along with more Bluesy and Jazzy rock.

There are differences in the sub genres. It'd be like calling The Doors metal just because they belong to the genre in the post Blues Rock age (which incidentally really kicked off in England when many guitarist adopted the Blues but played it louder and harder.)

Edit:: And before you start, there is one major difference between EMO and Blues, even if an Emo band plays that sound and it comes from a literary definition of genre.

Blues is Dark, Emo is angst. Understanding that in context is what creates the barrier between the genre.

Edit:: In case more context is needed. There is a big difference between:

Old man broke down drowned in a pool of mud and blood finding his woman on a Thursday night.

Versus

I cry a thousand tears burning down our city because you left me.

Actually I made a mistake. Ska wasn't the combination of those sounds. Wasn't thinking straight at the time then I re-read it and realized I screwed up.

Ska was born from the mixing of Calypso and Motown. Which I guess in a way is still an evolution from meshing Calypso, Jazz, and rock...

...but yeah I like music. I'm probably not as varied as Wak but I've got some decent taste. I've really been getting into the hip hop Jazz scene lately. It's pretty cool to see a jam session with a Jazz band backing up a Rapper instead of turntables and pre-recorded beats and mixes. Especially when it becomes more of a flow then a rehearsed set.
