Ichabod smiled and tapped a control panel on the outside of the pod with his pencil.
"You don't. We Immersion techs do all the work while you get all the fun. Once we get the next few pods filled up, which should be soon, someone will brief you on a few rules and then we'll close these babies up. As soon as they're all sealed up that helmet there above you're head will come down and the hookups inside it will link you to the system. After that you'll be in the game having the greatest time of your life." he smiled broadly, proud of his extensive knowledge of the system.
He would have thought his boss' son would have known almost as much as he did. Of course, then again, Mr. Kinomoto wasn't the top dog at Renderson. In reality there were quite a few people between him and Mr. Renderson himself.

"Neat, can't wait to go. Are there still bugs in the system or have you guys worked that all out?" he said, trying to hide his nervousness. His father didn't talk that much about the project (for confidentiality reasons), but he had been fuming over some glitches for the last couple of days, muttering about algorithms and non-essential orphans in the code practically in his sleep.

Adrea followed a few other kids into the immersion room, her hazel eyes wide with astonishment as she stared the bizarre looking pods and consoles. How weird! She'd never seen anything like them before in her entire life. Anxious but wildly curious, she stepped into one of the pods. It was already ocupied by a young technician and a boy about her age wearing dress clothes. Adrea almost laughed at his attire, but held in her amusement and instead situated herself in the corner where she wouldn't interupt the two others guys' conversation.

Aric stepped up to the desk. "Finally!" he said out loud, before turning red at the snickers behind him. He quickly handed the card to the receptionist and smiled. Despite his mistake, he could hardly contain his exitement.

Ted sighed as he looked at all the people around him. He came here with the promise to play a new game, but it was taking too long to do anything. In fact, he was more interested in the equipment around him than the game currently. After being escorted into a room containing pods, though, Ted's opinion of the whole thing took a different approach. So, he though. We are playing in VR. This should be interesting.
He had come on a trip from Japan, just to see the few relatives he had over here, and also to do this whole thing. He wasn't really briefed in the letter he got, nor did he pay attention to anything anyone was really saying. He just had his mind set on the technology that was on display. He knew Japan had some things more advanced, but this just goes to show that Americans can surpass anyone with money and manpower. Now when were they gonna let him play the game.

Timmy smiled widely at the girl who had just walked in his pod. His nervousness rose to just mild anxiousness now that he had someone else in the same boat as him, so to speak. He wondered if she was as psyched about this as he was.
Iggy interrupted his thoughts. "All the serious ones we've fixed," he said, leaning against the door, "but you'll probably still see some minor glitches." He ticked them off on his fingers. "Your hair and clothes might not flow right in the wind, light will reflect weird off moving water; things like that." He twirled his hand dismissively. "But none of that will effect your gaming experience. And we should have them ironed out by the time we start shipping."
He looked down at his watch, which was a fancy limited projection device. The date and time floated right in the air. "Alright, I gotta go make sure you cats have a good time and go work on last minute junk. I'll leave this pod open for a bit so we can pack more people in, but...." he glanced outside at the crowd and took a quick head-count. "You might get lucky and only have to share with a few more people." He turned around and waved over his shoulder. "Have fun, Tim. I'll see you later at your house."
Timmy smiled and turned to the girl who had entered. "You as excited about this as I am?"

Adrea shot Timmy a wide grin. "To tell you the truth, I'm not even sure what all of this is about." She laughed. She cocked her head to the side, running a hand through her short blonde hair. "But hey, I'm up for anything!" She beamed. Leaning against the side of the pod, Adrea crossed her arms and bent her knee so her foot could rest against the wall, still smiling amiably. "But gee, I didn't know we were supposed to dress up!" She added seriously. Yes, it was no coincidence her hair was naturally blonde.

Ted was starting to get bored, and he kept wondering one of two things: when was he gonna be able to get into the pod and immerse himself, and would the people here allow him to look at all the tech needed to run one of these things. Oh, that would be a dream come true. But until that time, he was bored, still.
He fingered the card that he had, but he never bothered to read it. He would figure everything out when the time came. Maybe one of the employees would at least give an explanation of what he was doing here.

((Sorry everyone, had a big art project this weekend. Umm, real quick, the pods are meant for one person, but let's just say there are three set up in each pod set within it's own little room. Just a minor wording change and you're good to go. Sorry about that.))
Elincia jumped as the boy at her desk yelled in his excitement. She'd been so fucused on sorting out an odd glitch on her computer while working with the other players profiles cards that she hadn't noticed anything but what she was reading.
She looked up at him and smiled sheepishly, glancing at the screen to see if he would have to wait. Ah, one single pod set left. He lucked out... Taking his card she scanned it and began typing in the extra information, skimming over his interests she noticed his odd hobbies and interests. Hmm, a myth buff just like me; although the legos sound a lot more like Edward's sort of thing.
She handed him back the card. "Here you go," she grinned as she waved behind her shoulder, "You'll be starting momentarily." Looking back over the line she smiled apologetically, "I'm sorry everyone, but for the moment you're all going to have to wait a little bit longer. Feel free to sit down in line or take a number, the last pods for the current session have filled up. Once we get the others online and ready to go I'll be back to start taking numbers again."
She stood, picking up her sphinx as she stretched her arms. As she stepped out from behind the rounded desk she pressed a button, activating a mild security field while she was away. Something about the way her computer was acting was bothering her, and she wanted to go make sure everything was all right in the pod room.
As she walked she stopped to chat with gamers who were waiting near the pods they had chosen, talking casually with friends and new acquaintances. She smiled her best public smile, biting her cheek as she did and wishing she were behind the paneled glass along with all the operating technicians. One guy caughter her eye as she walked past him. He seemed disapointed and intrigued in an ironic sort of way, and was standing somewhat off away from the virtual pods.
She reached a small platform in the center of the room and whispered to a technician there. He hurriedly nodded and walked briskly to a small group of other technicians. On a small round dias, covered with buttons and flashing lights, Elincia flipped a switch. The lights dimmed and a recorded message played within each active pod chamber.
"Welcome players, to the Virtual Kingdom. The game will commence very shortly. Please enter your pods and take your seat..." The recording paused, waiting until its sensors registered that all seats in the active pods were occupied and that no one was on the floor. Elincia giggled as she saw watched a number of technicians almost run for the observation room so that the sensor's wouldn't be confused by the extra people on the floor.

Timmy blushed slightly. "Er, I don't think it was exactly necessary..." He quickly explained. "My dad works here and thinks that 'because I'm representing him in the gaming world', as he would say, that I should look the part. But I suppose if he's not here..." He looked around slyly and pulled off the tie, stuffing it into a pocket. He took an exaggerated gasp of air. "Much better."
He was about to say something more when a voice came over the speaker. "...Please enter your pods and take your seat..."
Timmy's grin widened, but the butterflies were back in his stomach. He wriggled down into the seat and stuffed the coin back in his inside pocket. "I wonder if a third person will come in our pod?" he said, "They better hurry it up if they are."

Ted let out a sigh of relief when he heard the announcement. All that went through his head was Finally. Game time. And he headed over to the pods. He noticed a guy and girl there for the other two pods, but he didn't care who they were. If this game was any good, he would end up wiping them out, possibly. Unless he ended up as a mage. Uggh. Those things were the filth that was eaten by paramecium. Lower than scum.

Adrea copied Timmy, moving into the seat beide him. She looked up at the ceiling to try and figure out if there were supposed to be virtual reality helmets or something. She wasn't too sure how gaming really worked. Maybe a control panel? Her head swiveled around, seeking out wires, controllers, anything. Nope. Adrea shrugged to herself and looked back at Timmy, who was looking slightly anxious. "I'm sure someone will show up!" She replied to his musing about a third player. She noticed a boy looking ready to enter their pod. She smiled welcomingly and gave him a tentative wave. "Coming in?"

Glancing at the girl, and giving a snort of indifference, Ted situated himself in the pod. Making himself comfortable, he just let his thoughts drift away. What will I be? What's the gameplay gonna be like? How many monsters can I slaughter? When will this thing start? So deep was he in his thoughts that he completely ignored everything around him.

Timmy raised an eyebrow at Adrea, thinking that this guy sure was cheerful. He could hear hissing noises and muffled voices outside, presumably getting the game ready. He tried to make some conversation. "So," he said to both of them, "Who do you think you'll be?"

Elincia stepped off the platform when the recording resumed and the pod doors began to close, walking over to the sliding glass door that opened silently to admit her into the observation room in search of a replacement for the registration desk.
“Gamers, if you would please lean back into your seats, you game helmet will be lowered. A few rules before your immersion initiates; let it be known that all players will ‘awaken’ to a completely new and unfamiliar environment of their own, unless, of course, you have marked group upload on you game data cards. Also, because of technical difficulties, transfer uploads, or, the changing of in game characters, is not allowed at this time. Please be considerate as we attempt to fix this, the only technical difficulty that we have at the time. When you enter the game, your character’s mind will inform you of their situation and upbringing. Do not fight the information stream or try to force certain knowledge. Renderson Enterprises wishes you an exciting and enthralling game.”
As the computer recording finished playing the game helmets lowered, connecting small wires to each gamer’s temples with a small, tingling electrical discharge. Then the immersion process began as signals were sent, each player's experience unique as their minds awareness faded out of reality into the electronically simulated world of the Virtual Kingdom…
((Since I’m not sure if everyone checks the OOC thread I’m posting this here. I will be getting the character files to you shortly through PM’s and I will also post them up front in case you accidentally lose it. I am still retyping them, as they seem to have been either deleted or misplaced when I was rearranging files in my computer. Sorry it’s taken me so long, but I should be done with it by tomorrow and will get them to you as quickly as I can so you don’t have to wait much longer.))
