I guess its like Crysis VS Mario Galaxy. Or Killzone 2 VS Spore. But it is possible to put creativity and originality into games that have amazing graphics. There are many people whi think that Super Mario Galaxy is the best looking game on the Wii, and it has very original gameplay and enviromental effects. Ok, Super Mario Galaxy does nook any near as good as Crysis, but it is not bad and the Wii can only handle so much as far as graphics goes. Hay if Nintendo can do it, why not anybody else.
Bad comparison. Mario Galaxy, while it doesn't kill my PC when I stupidly flip on max settings, doesn't let me punch down a tree at the base then fling it up into the air. Afterwards immediately rush down into the little village, kill everyone, then catch the tree before it ever hits the ground and slam it into the last guy alive. The physics engine in that thing is insane at times.

When you start talking about sandbox-ish games, well at least the first half of Crysis, you can't really do much since it becomes all about what the player does. Also, are you really comparing Spore to Killzone 2? Nevermind the fact that both games aren't out, and that there is relatively little information but they're no where near the same genre. You would'a been better off going with Ratchet v. Galaxy and a really good looking RTS v. Spore.

Then again that stirs up a whole new argument.

What I am comparing is Originality to Garphics. Spore will be a very original game but does not look all that great, and Killzone 2 will be a very good looking game but not as original as spore. Its the same with Crysis VS Mario Galaxy, Originality vs Graphics.
Then you killed your argument since the original Mario was derivative of Joust and Spore is derivative of many monster games that came before. Plus, you could argue that Mario Galaxy took parts of other platforms and made it into the whole game. Parts of SMG work just like the Grav-Ramps in Ratchet for example, which in turn can then be attributed to something else.

Everything "original" can be traced back to something. Nothing is truly original.

Also, Crysis is more than just graphics.

No, you just missunderstood me. The thing is that most good games have either originality, or great graphics. Super Mario Galaxy has both Originality and Great Graphics for a Wii game. Ok I understand that games are not 100% original these days, but they still stand out compared to other games. Even Crysis had some original ideas, like the ability to become super strong or super fast or super armore or become invisible on the fly. Another interesting thing was how the alians attacked the island, and how the alians looked. But theses original ideas still don't compare with how original Super Mario Galaxy is. In my view, all good games must have originality and great graphics. Sometimes graphics can be considered original. For example: If the new graphics made it able to create a new type of gameplay like hiding in the grass or in bushes. Half Life 2 introduced Physics as a way to asvance gameplay by allowing the player to pickup objects and throw them at enimies, or drop them at a place that is needed in order to open a door. or climb out a window.
