Her ear twitched for a second at his n**. Lips persing lightly as she started to walk again after he had caught up. "Secrets. You know. Little things that you keep locked away in your heart that you either don't tell anyone or only your closest of friends or family? Things that you would rather the masses not know."
Giving her tail a lazy flick, she cantered for a moment. Sunlight glinting off of the silver cross that dangled from her leathery necklace. The air had grown cooler over the days, she could feel it. Fall was coming with the changing of the leaves. And there was always change in the air. Even as the seasons did their own transitions.
Perhaps these coming seasons would bring change for the flutter. But she pushed that to the back of her mind for the moment. She still had a little poking and prodding to do.

"I know what a secret is!" he snorted indignantly, lifting his nose into the air in a pose reminiscent of her own. After a moment however, he just grinned sheepishly, eyeing her with a bit of uneasiness. "I just... I'm not sure if my secrets are something you should know... or want to know, for that matter."
He paused and watched her walk ahead of him with a thoughtful expression, weighing his options with an unusual cautiousness. He'd already decided he couldn't tell her... at least not yet. He hadn't the slightest clue how to 'woo' a female, and there was just no way she would like him the way things were. No... no, it had to stay a secret for now.
He watched her eye the leaves with some amount of interest, lifting his own gaze to the rustling foliage.

"Why is that?" Roxy's voice carried an innocent tone. Like that of a curious foal who knew nothing of the world it lived in and would ask questions of the slightest things. "Are they naughty secrets?" With a giggle, she fluttered her wings and gave a shake of her head. Black curls bouncing along her neck and shoulders.
Turning her head towards him, she flashed a cheeky grin before turning around. Face to face with him, almost, now. "Or are you some rouge vigilante who can't reveal his secret identity?"

"Ah... erm... no, not really. And it's only one." He clamped his mouth shut again after this, cursing his loose tongue inwardly. He was trying to be careful about what he said, darn it! He was beginning to think she knew something about his secret, with the way she was teasing him about it, but that was impossible... right? Lord, he hoped so.
He watched her toss her mane with a small amount of awe and admiration, smiling a bit when she grinned at him. "Have I mentioned that you're really pretty?" He almost kicked himself for that comment. Subtle! He was supposed to be subtle, for heaven's sake! His mouth just seemed not to want to listen to him today.
"Vigilante? Er..." he would have rather not told her that he didn't know what that word meant, but he suspected she already knew, so he just grinned embarassedly.

"Oh well." A curious eyebrow raised once again as she gave him an auspicious look. At his compliment, she bowed her head slightly. Letting a bit of bang fall over her face as a subtle blush graced her cheeks. "Yes, you have."
She giggled softly once more, lifting her head just slightly so that she could see through her bangs. "Do you not know what a vigilante is?" A curious tone in her voice once again. It was understandable that some might not know what one was. There didn't seem to be many Soquili who did have the quality or perhaps the personality of one.

"Ah, well... sorry, I just couldn't help saying so again." He gave her a lopsided grin that was vaguely reminiscent of his father, bowing his head so a stray tendril of azure forelock fell over his eyes. At least she wasn't teasing him about that too, and her blush was endearing.
"Ah, no, not exactly," he admitted with a still embarassed grin. She only seemed curious, though, not exasperated, so he supposed it wasn't that bad. "Vocabulary has never been one of my strong points. People get frustrated with me a lot for that. So... what is it?"

Roxy's eyes rolled upward as she thought. Almost as if looking for the answer in her eyelids. After a moment, her gaze returned to him. "A vigilante is any person who takes the law into his or her own hands. In laments terms, its someone who rights wrongs with their own form of justice outside of societies own laws and rules."
Trying to describe it was a bit harder than it seemed. There were no real examples she knew that she could show him, so her description would have to do for now. Still smiling softly, she took a few steps towards him and nudged his nose once more. "Well, then we'll just have to expand your vocabulary a bit. Vigilante will be a start."

Pondering her description for a moment, Nahuel's brow creased in thought, tilting his head to the side. He looked back at her after a moment, still looking slightly confused as he spoke again. "Okay... so... why do you think I'm a vigilante?"
He thought hard for a moment, shifting absently. "I kinda did do that with that skinwalker and kalona the other night... but..." he almost kicked himself for that comment, and cursed his running mouth for the umpteenth time. He wasn't exactly sure what she would think of his little act of heroics the previous night, but he was pretty sure she wouldn't approve of it. "I mean... eh... nevermind!"

"Well, I didn't really think you were. Unless you are. Was just really trying to guess at what kind of secrets you might be hiding in there and it just kind of popped up I guess." It was the truth. And hopefully that wouldn't upset him...at least too much anyway.
Her head cocked to the side as she raised an eyebrow at him. "Skinwalker...and a....Kalona? What?" Roxy's white pelt quivered at the mention of a Kalona. She had heard of Skinwalkers before, but never met one. And she doubt she did. But Kalona, she was all too familiar with their ways.

"Ohh," he nodded his understanding, grinning a bit. "Well, the secret I have is nothing like that. Um..." he wasn't sure if he should be telling her this much, but he figured it couldn't hurt. "It's nothing particularly important, anyway," that was another half-truth.
"Um... yeah... I kind of ran into a mother kalona and her baskets the other night... they were being attacked by a skinwalker, so I... kinda jumped in and tried to save them." He pawed at the ground with a sheepish grin. "I didn't end up doing a lot of good... I was actually sure I was going to be killed for a little while, there. Heaven knows why, but she actually let me go."
Of course, he didn't mention his near-death thoughts and regrets about not confessing his feelings to her, but she definitely didn't need to know that...

The little Flutter had completely forgotten about poking about for his secrets. Or questioning him. Roxy's eyebrows furrowed as her blue orbs flashed dangerously.
"Nahuel. You should know better than that. Kalona can take care of themselves. They are not weaklings nor do they need protecting. Even a Kalona mother can hold her own when and if she has to defend her baskets. The strength of a mother becomes ten fold when her children are in danger. That goes for any race of Soquili." If she had fingers should would of been shaking one at him right now. Roxy didn't hate much, but Kalona were on the top of her list. "Kalona are brutal and ruthless and..."
Her bottom lip started to quiver violently as small tears started to form in the corners of her eyes. "You could of died..." The mare's voice was but a whisper now. Her small ears flicking back against her delicate skull and pushing down her curls.

"I would have, but she had three baskets, and was in no condition to protect even herself, much less them." He frowned slightly as he rose to his own defense, but shrunk again under her reprimand, his expression turning slightly apologetic. As she started ranting about the kalona, however, he felt inclined to speak up. "Hey now, she may not have been the kindest soquili ever, but she loved her children, and was willing to die to protect them, so I had to do something..."
His own protests, however, abruptly died at the sight of her tears, azure orbs widening into saucers as he heard her softly whispered words. He was touched by her concern... in all honesty, he wasn't sure whether she'd care all that much if he died. Seeing it, though... maybe there was some hope for him yet. He softened at the moisture in her eyes, nosing gently at her cheek as he spoke softly, comfortingly.
"Don't cry, Missus Roxanne... I'm right here, I didn't die." He nuzzled under her chin, offering what he hoped was a reassuring smile. "I never thought I'd see you this worried about me..."

"She would have been able to if she was strong willed. A mother can do anything if her babies are in danger. Like I said before." She hated the Kalona, that was a fact. But as she had said, they were strong enough on their own. If this Kalona mother was truely in peril then well...she probably wasn't as strong as the others. Which possibly showed a bit of weakness amongst them. But that was no consolidating fact.
The tears had welled up too much and soon spilled over her long eyelashes. Leaving little wet trails along her cheeks. "Your my friend, Nahuel. If I lost anymore friends I don't know what I'd do."

He fell silent at this, mostly because he really didn't have the knowledge to contribute anything. The only experience he'd had with kalonas was in that one encounter he'd had the previous night... and he supposed that didn't account for most of the other kalonas in existence. She must have had a bad experience for her to be so prejudiced against them... but he didn't blame her.
His heart wrenched at the tears that spilled down her ivory cheeks, and he nosed them away with a gentle brush of his muzzle. "Please don't cry... I'm right here, I'm okay. I'd never be able to leave you, anyway." He offered her a small grin. "Not before I told you..." once again, his mouth seemed to run away with him, and he clamped it shut before he could say any more.

Pressing her forehead against his chest, she lingered there for a moment. Curly hair pressed down by the pressure of her leaning against him. "Just promise me you won't do something like that again. Please? I mean...it was really thoughtful for you to try and help out a mother. But no matter what the circumstances of the matter is, I doubt she would of thanked you graciously if you had indeed been able to drive that Skinwalker away."
Her ears lifted slightly as she caught the trail off of his words. The tears had stopped a bit, the stinging feeling in her eyes was less intense. Roxy rarely cried anymore. And if she did it wasn't for long. "Told me what?" She neither moved or lifted her head.
