Setsumi could almost feel behind the dismissive grunt, but she couldn't be too sure. She could never be too sure with Darkfeather. The best she could go on with is whatever he spoke aloud.
She shook her head to herself, moving blue strands from her vision. "I'll keep my eyes open for her then." At least then there were two sets of eyes searching about. Sitting quiet for a moment, Setsumi flicked through different ideas in her mind. "I take it you were a fighter then? And with her advice, you could improve your attacking strategies?" He had been a bird afterall, and she a human.

Darkfeather didn't look at her, but was inwardly somewhat moved by her offer to search for his dear friend and companion. He didn't care if she came as a kitsu or otherwise... he was desperate to see her again. If only one last time.
The crested male then puffed out his chest in pride, "That's right... I was her best pokemon, on one of the strongest teams in Team Rocket." He had always been very proud of that fact, and he would always throw his weight around and made sure everyone knew his status and what he was capable of.

Well, that seemed to have struck a cord. Setsumi grinned, tilting to sideglance at the now beaming male. "Is that so?" And from what she could see of his hunting skills, some of those strengths seemed to have carried on. Trim and fit. And he said he wasn't mated? That was hard to believe.
She flexed her three tails. "But your a kitsusagi now," she pointed out. "You'll have to make the best of it now. Without teams, or challenges to battles."

He seemed to deflate a little at that reminder, his expression going from prideful to stoic. "Hm... I know." It had been hard... trying to adjust to this new life, and he was still struggling with it. He had pretty much shut out other Kitsusagi... but something had caught his eye with Setsumi. Perhaps her beauty and the fact that she had feathers. Anything feathered he seemed to feel a sort of kinship to.. and not just wings... for he also had his crest.

She had expected the words to go through to ihm, and by his shuffle, it did. And sadly, it was simply reality. Standly slightly, she backed up till she was sitting basically shoulder to shoulder with the other. Of course with breathing space. She was just too used to being one of comfort. Ever since pausing for a life in realm. Perhaps a pause was just what Dark needed in his life too.
"Maybe you're just making it too hard yourself?" Too stiff, or reclusive. I mean, he was way out here in the abandoned jungle for goodness sake. "Just breathe and let go for a moment, you know?"

Darkfeather was aware of her proximity to him, but didn't seem to react until she spoke. The crested male sitting up, a full head taller than the average winged Kitsusagi. He'd always been... a large bird, and that carried over here as well. It added to his.. intimidation factor.
"Hn... perhaps" he grunted, not wanting to seem any more weak than he already had. But he wasn't going to disagree with the notion either. "Sitting still and doing nothing isn't my thing, either" he said, thus he wasn't sure what to do with himself. Perhaps hunt... a lot... who knows.

Nothing was said, but Setsumi still glanced at the noticable height difference. To compare him to Lily was a crazy mismatch. Lily being female and super petite. Darkfeather being male and broader than average. No wonder his curt words seemed more effective.
She flickered her eyes away at his logic. So many situations just weren't his 'thing'. "So what do you live for?" No, she'd have to rephrase her thinking. "I understand your seeking someone dear. I know of another kitsu who is doing the same thing. Even so, he's not letting his time in this world be lost. He's made friends, and soon to make a family. Don't you want any of those experiences, then?" He'd just have to go about them...in his own form.

What did he live for? That was... a good question... and unnerving question, one that he really wasn't sure how to answer. "I don't know..." he admited with a frown. He hadn't ever really thought about it. "Your the first that I've actually had a.... indepth conversation with" he muttered. Sad but true... he'd been so enveloped in finding what he'd lost, that he hadn't focused on the here and now. He didn't have anything... and he never sought to gain anything new. But then, Darkfeather wasn't exactly a social butterfly either.
But did he want a new life? Again... he didn't really know. "Perhaps... if an opportunity arises." But well.. who was to say that one would.

"I'm just glad you've finally decided to open up." She gave a soft grin, ducking her ears. And here she thought she'd never discover anything about this other kitsu. It was a tiny, but good sign of trust. Setsumi gave a wisp of air while scratching numbly at some loose grass. "Well, a life usually includes a home. Might as well start searching for a territory to take pride in." At least then he'd have something to defend, maintaining his attacks and battle skills.
"As to opportunities, you gotta reach out for them. Like I wouldn't have half the things I do now if I didn't seek them out and truly enjoy them." No, she'd still be traveling from location to location without a care for present time. "I'm sure you wouldn't regret it."

"Hm..." was all he could think to say to Setsumi as he thought over her words. It was definitely something to think about... but well.. nothing was going to happen overnight.
However, the crested male sideglanced her way briefly. "So then... why did you stop?" he asked. If she really believed what she said, then why did she seem to have given up? Not making another life for herself or whatever?

Of course that turn around would come. Any one would have asked the same thing, right? And it still took her some moments of silence to define her own reasons. "Well...alright, I suppose I did stop." A twisted smile formed, almost embarrassed by what she was about to say. "I suppose you can say opportunities were like a red apple. Shiny and tasty...but there was a worm inside. And no matter how much I waited for it, it refused to leave."
Such references made her loose all appetite. And she suddenly felt very fatigued, bothered that this was a chapter in her life at all. "I didn't want it anymore, so I left." It was better than arguing, or continuing to plead.
(is soo gonna have Setsumi be...creative) X3;

Again he was silent as she spoke, before eventually slowly nodding his head. "I see... that is understandable." Still... it seemed like a waste. "Are you going to move on, or just sit out here in the middle of nowhere for the rest of your life?" He smirked a bit, "Although I suppose.. this place would make good territory considering it is out in the middle of nowhere." There were hardly any Kitsusagi about... and there was lenty of food. It was a good place, he had to admit that.

Move on? Well, yes, she had to. The thing was that there were two directions to move, back and forward. And both had no clear outcome. She tilted her head an inch, peering at Darkfeather while debating an answer. With a blue banded paw, she reached to the other side of his jawline, before leaning in to give him a small and lingering peck on the edge of his maw. She kept her head tucked down, not wanting to see reactions. She had just forgotten what that felt like, after such time of being loyal to someone who wasn't there.
"Don't get the wrong idea. I'm still on the fence about that choice." And she smirked as if nothing had happened, turning her eyes to scan the horizon. "So you like this territory? It does have a great variety of land. And no one to bother you for miles." Maybe that was his thing.

Well that was something he certainly hadn't expected. Red eyes widening a bit, and ears tilting back at the peck on his muzzle. He didn't really know what to think about that... except that he coughed and cleared his throat again when she told him not to get the wrong idea. "Of course not" he said, trying to look like it hadn't fazed him in the slightest.
"I do like it" he admitted, finally managing to look at Setsumi again. "The fishing is good here and there's plenty of space. Few kitsusagi around." He'd only ever really encountered Setsumi... and that Pixie that she and her group had seen before. Although he hadn't even seen that Pixie in awhile either.

Those were some obvious features. It was shocking that no other kitsus were around, at least often enough to bump into. "Sounds good." That's all she could really think to say about it. She had just come for the jungle, but even that was just a vacant spot to revisit from her past. No good to stay there if no one was around.
Setsumi flicked her tails as she stretched out front legs. Wow, that had been the longest talk she had ever heard from the winged kitsu. At least now there was something to know about the other. "Well then, you should get to securing your territory. I think it's time for my lunch anyways." And since all the rabbits were scared away, she'd need the time to scavenge out some meal.
