Tango you're right.

My suggestion was so silly!

Only Wii games can beat Halo 3!

My suggestion was on the 360 platform!

OMG Hax0rz, I look like such a n00b!1
This is more true than you think. The PS3 has...... issues, when it comes to developing online games. Some developers are reporting problems.
In other news, the Wii version of GH3 is scheduled to lack online play initially. I have no idea how this was brought about, espescially with other third party Wii games getting online play very easily.

Borderlands is shaping up to be an awesome FPS game that's also an RPG with the ability for four people to play through it, via four controllers in one room or playing online. Over one million weapons, awesome not-pre-programed-AI, etc.... all that can kill Halo.

Don't go call my suggestion "bogus" because you're a closed minded a*****e.

I hear red steel is a piece of s**t.

It is. Also, it's not a franchise, nor does it have any "brand power" to speak of. Also, I am (for now) far more interested in Haze than I am in Halo, Call of Duty, or even Killzone. Also, Metroid Prime 3 is a completely different beast than any of these games. It's not really even an FPS, so I don't know why anyone would even bring it up.

Also, Warhawk has already beaten the Halo franchise in overall fun factor and game quality. Not by a whole lot, mind you, but I definitely have more fun with Warhawk than I ever had with Halo.

I've played through the whole first game, and it really isn't that bad. It's just not what people wanted and people were very upset that it wasn't. However, it is a franchise, Nintendo Power's cover story next month is an exclusive look at Red Steel 2. And it does have brand power because it's the first FPS most players experienced on the Wii and therefore has some sort of brand power. And why can't we include Metroid Prime 3? It's played in the first person. You shoot stuff. Therefore, first-person shooter. Just because it relies more heavily on exploration than any other FPS really shouldn't break it off into a genre that's only populated by other games in that franchise.

It's not an FPS. It's an FPA. And you know this.

Also, if Red Steel is a franchise just because it is going to have a sequel, that means Killzone is also a franchise. That kinda nullifies your argument. Also, the "halo-killer" hype gives Killzone far more "brand power" than Red Steel will probably ever have.
Not to mention that the original Killzone has a 73.2% rating on gamerankings.com and Red Steel only has a 65%.

The whole labeling of Metroid Prime is trivial. You shoot stuff in it, therefore some could see it as a shooter. You solve puzzles and explore your environment in it, therefore it could also be considered an adventure game.

Only? That's only a little more than 8% less than Killzone's score and 15% above being completely average. A 65% is a decent game. And yes, Killzone is also a franchise, how does that nullify my argument? I never said Killzone wasn't a franchise. A franchise is a group of games under the same brand name. Killzone has Killzone, Killzone: Liberation, and Killzone 2 and Red Steel has Red Steel and Red Steel 2, and last time I counted, that is more than one game. And I never said Red Steel had far more hype than Killzone, because it definitely didn't. You said it had absolutely no brand power when in fact, it was numerous Wii gamers first foray in FPS gaming on the Wii and, even according to GameRankings, the game wasn't that bad.

Right. My bad. This was about Haze wasn't it? Oops. I'm tired, leave me alone. mrgreen

For the record, though, 65% is pretty awful. I personally wouldn't waste my time with anything that is that universally reviled. There are too many great games out there that I have yet to play for me to waste my time on the underwhelming and mediocre ones.

A 65% is not a bad score. Games that are universally reviled are Vampire Rain, Drake, Superman 64, those are bad games. 50% and lower is a bad score. 65% is fair-to-middlin'. In my opinion, it was an alright shooter, and if the bounding box had been smaller, that score would probably at least be between 70 and 75%.

But yeah, Haze, I never looked much into it, so I really don't care about it. Strategically, it seems like a good move to release it exclusively on the PS3, that way it won't be lost in all the futuristic shooters on the 360 and PC. However, it is absolutely necessary that they release it at least a month before Killzone 2, but I think it's coming out by year's end, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

How many topics have you made saying Halo is overrated or another game is going to beat it in ratings? Your opinions can no longer be taken seriously because it seems like you just dont like Halo and want to see it fail.
Yes, I would love to see it fail. That's exactly it. It's extremely overhyped and overrated. It's sucking away all the hype from better games such as Haze.

In Halo you can run, shoot, grenade, use a sword, vehicles, and a gravity hammer. Nothing special.

Haze is much more. It has shoot, grenade, and vehicles. BUT! When you play as a Mantel Trooper and administer Nectar, you are given the following abilities: Enhanced Speed, Melee Blast (imagine a melee attack times ten), Nectar Foresight (see a grenade or mine through a rippling effect and you can effectively avoid them), Nectar Vision (your enemies are highlighted in a yellow color), and improved accuacy.

When you play as a Rebel, you get these: Play Dead (lay motionless on the ground and regain health while your enemies pass by), Weapon Steal (punch them in their face, steal weapon, shoot), Melee Kick (Regular Melee and then kick, kind of a double melee), Knives, Nectar Knives (cover a knife in Nectar, allowing you to send a Mantel trooper into overdose mode), Nectar Grenade (a grenade that releases a puff of Nectar gas, sending your enemies into overdose mode).

And with all of these new elements, it still retains the fast-paced action of a regular shooter. It's an amazing game. But it has nowhere near the hype and fanbase of Halo. DAMN YOU MICROSOFT!

I'd love to see Halo fail. I would. I think it's a good game, but I'd love to see these fanboys eat their words.

you've oviously never played Halo. ever since it came out, games like Haze and Gears of War have been trying to "kill" it. you just cant kill Halo. its just one of those games like Doom or Command and Conquer that has had such an impact on its genre that you just cant kill it. and from what you just said, Haze sounds no better than Halo 3. in fact, I wouldnt even doubt if Call of Duty 4 will be better than Haze. and Borderlands does look awesome!

I think it was once said by Wii4Mii or Tango that Red Steel shouldn't be bashed.

We Had NOTHING to compare it too, since no other FPS controlled like it did.

Red Steel was an experiment for what FPS's would be like on the Wii.

It shouldn't be bashed.

True.

For anything, it helped/s future FPS on the Wii get better mechanics down.

I wouldn't say it was mediocre if I haven't played it.

I play Halo a lot, kthxbai.

EDIT: How can a game that adds so much to the FPS genre (MORE than Halo does) be no better than Halo?

FYI, Gears on the same platform/s as Halo. I doubt MS would be trying to beat itself. rolleyes

Besides, Gears and Haze are good games in their own right. Just because they aren't hyped up doesn't mean they aren't better than Halo. For anything, it's more of a gem if a good game can be accepted for what it is, than a medicore game be accepted as if it was Jesus.

Wii4Mii, if you had a wicked awesome PC I'd say skip Haze and go straight for Crysis as an upgraded version of Haze.

What other FPS lets you super boost jump, then switch to super strength, punch down through a roof then punch a guy, or grab him and use him as a shield while shooting down the opposition?

Crysis is the reason I've got myself a super little PC.

Wii4Mii, let me put it to you this way: everything you just said about Haze doesnt sound convincing at all. you get different sides, each with different abilities. that is seriously not as unique as you think. thats like the 4,000th game that has done that this month. also, from what you said, Haze looks like a combination of 4 better games: Halo, Counter Strike, Half-Life, and Call of Duty 4. and just because a game isnt hyped doesnt mean it isnt good. Borderlands and Dead Space arent very well known, but they still look awesome. Haze however, looks like just another generic shooter that is trying to beat out every other great shooter out there. and its on the PS3. the sad truth is that due to the console's poor sales, Haze probably isnt going to attract a wide audience. look back at what happened to Resistance: Fall of Man. hypd up shooter, but turned out to be very generic, and a combination of Quake and Call of Duty. unless if the PS3's sales make a huge increase, which I doubt will happen, Haze will most likely be forgotten. sometimes, the truth really sucks.

bottm line is that Microsoft and Bungie really dont care what a bunch of people on a website in the middle of no where think about their game. its an excellent shooter. and they know it. the blind opinions of a guy who has nothing better to do other than hate something just for the hell of it (thats you, Wii4Mii) mean nothing to them. they're smart. you are not. and all that matters in the end is that the game sells. so Wii4Mii, find something better to do other than hate something you have not even the slightest concept of.

Lul, you had me going there.

Lemmie put it this way, You can play Halo, without any tactics, or else you wouldn't be getting your a** kick'd by a 10 year old.

Looking at Haze, this could take some tactics, hell, even some deep thought for some, cause you know, it aint just, "walk in, shoot stuff."

This guy is pretty rude. But then again, his name is not "TactMaster9494" or "MannersMaster9494".

And I agree, Halo pretty much only requires thumbskill and a wee bit of foresight and experience (knowing what weapons to use when, etc) to be able to play it well. But that's not necessarily a bad thing. "Approachability" can be a major factor in a game garnering a following.
