"Dark ... yes." He shook his head and trotted after Safi. He didn't want to be stuck out in the water after dark. Who knows what lurked around there at that time. There could be anything!
He caught up with the other stallion easily and waited until they were closer to the river to pay attention to things really. "At least we're further from the mountains. River's too cold that way"

The comment having gotten the desired results, Safi had been content to merely walk along in silence for a bit, enjoying the woods, the weather, and the company. At wadi's comment, though, he gave his companion a curious look. "Ah, you're not really one for the cold, Wadi? I suppose that kinda makes sense, though there's a lot to be said for the invigoration that cold can bring to the system."
To say nothing of the motivation. You tended to move right smartly when you were nippy!

"I'd rather not be cold." Cold was bad and made his legs stiff. He'd rather be warm if he could. Though it was hard to be warm in winter if you wanted to be clean. He hadn't found any hot water for that yet.

"Well, lucky for you it's still summer. All the same, there's bound to be a bit of a chill when bathing in a mountain-fed river....but I'm sure you know that already anyway!"
The two stallions were by now walking along the bank of the river, the low rushing sound of the water a soothing companion. "Just say if you see a likely spot!"

"It's still cold but it's not cold cold." He nodded slightly and turned to look at Safi. "It warms as it gets touched by the sun just like everything else."
He eyed the river as they walked and eventually saw a spot where the water cleared. "There.... looks good"

"Even snow does that, though; and then you get a puddle of water!" Which brought them back rather neatly to their original concern, finding a swimming spot, just as Wadi identified the potential swimming hole. Excellent timing, indeed!
Looking at the water as well, Safi took only a second to note how deep the water looked, then grinned. "Well, if you're sure...BANZAI!" And with a sudden leap forward, he was cannonballing right into the middle of the river. How was THAT for a bit of an adrenaline rush?

He winced as Safi jumped into the water but at least that would have gotten all the fish to go away. That couldn't have felt good. What if he hit the bottom?
Walking over carefully he waded into the water to wait for Safi to surface so he could make sure he was alright. "You shouldn't do that.... It's not safe"

As he surfaced, Safi whipped his head back so that his dripping mane was slicked back against his head rather than in his face. But he was grinning as he did so; the water felt so delightful on this warm day!
Wadi didn't seem to think that such behavior was a good idea, but that only made Safi grin wider. "Why not? It's not like the water is going to hurt me, and it feels good! You should really try just jumping in instead of that torturous wading process." So saying, he backwinged himself out further into the middle of the stream, then sprayed a mouthful of water in Wadi's direction playfully. "Do I look much like I'm in pain?"

"It might not have been as deep as you thought." He frowned slightly as he waded in up to his chest. "You could have been hurt..." He'd have been horrible worried if Safi had been hurt. He wasn't sure he could have drug the other out of the river if he was.
"I'd rather do it slowly ... less traumatizing that way."

"I could've been, and then it would have been my own fault. Had that been the case, you would have been more than within your rights to laugh hysterically at me for being an idiot."
Still, Safi was touched at the fact Wadi was worrying about him, even if it was a logical things to be worried ABOUT. It was just...nice.
That in mind, he propelled himself over to Wadi with two wide strokes of his wings, his hooves alighting on the solid ground of the river bottom. "But I'll refrain from anymore kamikaze leaps while you're around, since it troubles you so. Though I think that I'd find the slow approach much tougher than anything I've done!"

"Good..... it would be bad if you hurt yourself. I wouldn't know what to do if we weren't near anyone." He'd probably act like an idiot if Safi hurt himself. Running around trying to find someone would be horrible.
"Slow is easier. That way i don't get too deep. I ..." He scrunched his nose slightly. "I don't swim so well."

Seriousness was all well and good, but not all the time. Therefore Safi was quick to steer Wadi back from the worried musings and back into irreverence of his own. "I float pretty well, actually, so I probably would have wound up fine even if I DID hurt myself. I might look like a frivolous pretty boy, but I'm surprisingly durable." And always had been!
But the comment about not being a strong swimmer attracted a bit of sympathy, at that. "Ah, then it makes sense. Still, you can keep your feet on solid ground and still get yourself nice and washed out!" Laughing, Safi flopped back at that, causing a slight wave to mosey across the river as he gracefully went into a back float, his wings spread wide on the surface of the water to keep him balanced. "Lord knows a bath is a good idea after having a long sweaty run, eh?"
Flipping back over so that he was treading water again, Safi gave Wadi a grin. "But if you'd rather not duck under yourself, I can always bail water over you. You'll get a shower and be on firm ground in one smooth step."

"I can do it well enough on my own." He stuck his tongue out at Safi and ducked under water. He just couldn't swim. As long as he was in shallow enough water that he could stand up it would be fine.
Standing back up he shook himself out but was still stuck with a few pieces of hair caught in his face as usual. Shaking his head again he tried to dislodge it as best he could.

"If you say so." The amused look on Safi's face clearly showed just how little he belived the other's story. Personally, he wouldn't see that as accomplishing the same amount of good as a good swim, but to each their own, right?
So he simply remained as he was, treading water while Wadi ducked underwater. Upon the other's resurfacing, though, Safi had to smile and approach again. "You've got hair in your mouth, Wadi; hold still while I get that for you, ok?" Yet another positve of wings...

He wiggled his nose slightly trying to dislodge the wayward hair before huffing at it. He guessed that meant it was time for the two legger woman to have at it again to replace the braids and make sure that nothing was astray. Things were easier that way.
"Thanks..." It was a good thing Safi had wings and he hadn't needed to roll around in the water until his hair behaved.
