The sight that greeted their eyes as soon as they stepped into the kitchen was simply amazing! For a second they stood in the doorway, their mouthes hanging open for a second before they regained their composure. The pasta smelled delicious and it looked equally yummy. "Wow..." Both children spoke with amazement but their tone was hushed, as though they didn't want to ruin the sight.

"It looks wonderful, Aphi! Thank you!" Lillian told their host with a smile, "Oh! And no, we're perfectly fine with milk." She replied, pulling out Tyson's seat to make sure he was situated before she sat down.

The tyke scooted into his seat and immediately began eyeing the meal. He looked up at Aphismet after the young man spoke. He knew exactly what "Lactose Intolerant" meant, and it was an awful word to the child's ears. "I would hate to have that, Aphi! I wouldn't be able to eat anything I like!" Tyson then gasped, "Wait! You aren't are you?" How tragic it would be if their dear friend was!

"Ugh, that would stink." Lillian grumbled as she sat herself at the table beside Tyson.

Both looked at the food again, neither one took any though. It would have been very rude of them to just dig in without Aphismet sitting and enjoying the meal with them.

When Rivener entered though, they immediately turned their heads to watch him sit down. When he spoke of painting Tyson went from shocked to absolutely thrilled. "Really Rivener!?" He cried with joy until he realized how annoying he sounded, "Oh, sorry." Tyson eased himself back against the chair and took a deep breath, "I mean, thank you Rivener!" Perfect! He sounded much better that way and hopefully the raevan wouldn't change his mind after his outburst.

Rivener did frown momentarily at Tyson, but the child remembered himself and apologized, rephrasing his joy in a less abrasive manner. Riv nodded. "Yeah, it'll be alright," he muttered, fingering Aphismet's fork.

Aphi finished pouring the milk and placed the rest in the fridge before sitting down. "Oh, I don't have lactose intolerance, don't worry. No need to hold back from having ice cream!" he winked at Tyson.

"Well, what are we waiting for? Eat, eat!" he motioned at their plates, and took his fork back from Rivener so that he could dig in.

Riv simply watched, chewing absently on a piece of bread.

Tyson giggled at Aphismet, "Good! I would really like some ice cream later. Oh! We could even make cookie icecream sandwiches! Do you like those Aphi?" He asked with the highest intent of having a good idea for everyone to enjoy. Since Rivener was nibbling on a piece of bread, perhaps the raevan could do the same with the dessert?

Lillian shrugged at the idea, it wasn't a problem with her if they made some. But since this was Aphismet's home it meant that he had his rules, and so she wasn't about to impose on whatever he had in mind.

Right now the idea of Tyson and Rivener painting together was occupying her head. It just didn't seem logical to her that they would go off and do something together. The scorpion raevan hated Tyson and he had proved that when they had run ins with him in the past. What did Tyson say to him when they were in the painting room? Lillian had wanted to ask him and find out, but there had been no time to investigate since they hurried downstairs to eat with Aphismet. All the worried teen could do now was just let Tyson go and paint with Rivener and hope that there was no trouble.

She frowned from her displeasure of the idea and took a forkful of pasta putting her thoughts aside for once to enjoy the food. "As expected," Lillian began after she swallowed her first bite of pasta. "This is great! What kind of sauce did you use? Did you make it yourself?"

Aphismet smiled at Tyson. "Cookie IceCream sandwiches sound delicious, Tyson! We can definately have those with the cookies you brought, as long as you have room left after finishing your pasta. It's not good to overstuff yourself, you know." He chuckled. "Maybe later in the afternoon we can have those, once we've digested a bit, okay? After your painting."

Rivener was already getting bored. He never really enjoyed sitting at the table, since he just sat there and did nothing else. He'd much rather watch TV, which is why he kept asking Aphi to buy one to put in here so that he could sit with everyone. But, as always, Aphi would counter that if he put a TV here, Eiry would never sit at the table again. So in Riv's mind, Eiry was more important, apparently.

"I'm going to watch TV,"
Rivener announced, grumpy from his train of thought. He "stood" up and floated out to the living room.

Aphismet watched Rivener go with a sigh. So many mood swings... Aph was scared to think of what the Scorpion would be like as a teenager.

"Ah, the sauce?"
Aphismet repeated, turning a sheepish smile to Lil. "oh, yes I made it myself. It's my special bolognese sauce, with tomatoes, ground meat and mushrooms. What makes it delicious is the Secret Spices." He winked. "Those, I can't tell you. They're MY secret."

Tyson laughed at Aphismet and nodded his head as quick as he could. "Yes! I'm always hungry! You do know that I am a growing boy, Aphi?" Aphi's pasta may have been wonderful but nothing could beat the child's sweet tooth's desire.

Lillian and Tyson looked up from their meals and watched Rivener excuse himself and leave the kitchen. Lil arched a brow in question as Tyson frowned. He didn't want the raevan to leave, although it must have been pretty boring if he couldn't eat anything.

Too bad he hadn't engaged Rivener in conversation. That way he could've learned more about him. A lot of people liked talking about themselves, and if he talked casually with Rivener then the raevan still would've been with them. Yet he did have the feeling that Rivener would become bored and probably float away anyways. Atleast they would have sometime to talk while painting, what fun that would be! Tyson couldn't help but grin when he thought of painting with his renewed idol.

"Oh really? Now why can't you give me a teeny tiny hint? This is something Tyson won't complain about while he's eating it." Lillian asked as Tyson thought over things. She gave Aphi a puppy dog pout, merely playing around with the older man as they ate dinner.

Aphismet laughed out loud at the girl's puppy eyes. He had never been on the receiving end of one of those, and he had to admit it was kind of cute. Made him wish he had a kid sister. "Well, there's salt and pepper of course... And only TWO others. That's all the hint I'll give!" He swiped the bread around his already-empty bowl, scooping up the last bits of sauce.

"Now finish up! I know you're eager for dessert and painting, Tyson. Lillian, will you be having an ice-cream sandwich too? I can go make them while you finish. What kind of ice cream? I have vanilla, chocolate, and butterscotch swirl." He got up, taking his bowl, ready to head over to the counter and start on dessert.

Rivener flicked on the TV set and surfed through the channels absently, not really listening to anything in particular. He suddenly felt very... warm. He could almost smell sand. It was weird to say the least.

Lillian rolled her eyes and sat back in the chair with a defeated and glum expression. The problem was, there were so many things that could go with salt and pepper! How the heck was that a good hint to give?

"You stink at giving hints Aphi." She grumbled discontently. "Oh, you don't need to pick up all by yourself. I'm almost done, so I can help." Lil forked one more piece of her remaining pasta and stood up with her bowl and glass in hand. "You know, you also buy too many good icecream flavors. I guess I'll have vanilla though."

"I'm done too! And I'll have butterscotch swirl!" Tyson yelped from his seat as he dropped his fork onto the empty plate infront of him. He didn't want to be the only one eating at the table, that was way too lonely and empty for him. "I'm gonna go see what Riv is watching. Be back soon!" Without another word the tyke scampered off to find the raevan in the direction he drifted off to.

Lil looked up from her plates after she set on the table to see her brother hurry off. The young miss gave a huff and walked over to pick up his discarded plate and glass. "He always leaves me with the messes..."

While the other two were busy freshening the kitchen, Tyson found Rivener within a couple of moments. When he came upon the raevan hovering over the couch, his speed slowed and he approached with cautious steps. "Rivener, we're all done with dinner. What are you watching?" He questioned him softly. Rivener's lost expression went unnoticed by the kid as he turned his attention to the tv screen. All it looked like to him was that the other was way too into the show on tv.

Aphi grinned. "Well, I can't be giving away all my recipes, or else you'd have no reasons to visit me for lunch!" He smirked. "And Rivener's the one who insists on me having many flavors of ice cream, For when Roux comes, he says. Not that Roux ever has been here." He sighed.

When Tyson bolted, leaving Lillian with having to pick up after him, Aph smirked. "Well, boys will be boys. I'm sure he'll help out more when he gets older. I'm grateful for YOUR help, though you didn't have to. Here," he said, placing his plate in the sink. "Put yours here as well, and I'll clean them later. Let's make those sandwiches!"

He fetched the ice cream from the freezer, and placed them on the counter near the plastic bag Lillian had brought. A scoop was quickly retrieved from the drawer, and Aphi set about making the sweet treats.

Rivener blinked, distracted from his inner musings, as Tyson came in. He quirked his mouth into a slight frown before settling back into a neutral expression. "I'm not watching anything, just flicking channels. Ah!" Riv sat up as he reached the discovery channel. "I love this show!" It was mythbusters, where the two hosts test different myths to see if they hold truth or not. "Ever watched this?" he asked the kid.

Lillian laughed, "Now now, you would come up with more recipes! Although I would probably continue to nag you for their secrets as well. You guys should come over to our house at some point and I can make you something. I already invited Isi and Eiry over so Eiry could eat the dead away from our yard. I just hope you don't mind something from a box. I'm not a very good cook to make meals like your's." The teen shrugged, the little variety that came with their meal plan just didn't bother her nor Tyson. "Wait, whose Roux? A friend of Rivener's or something?" She asked, the name was unfamiliar but she had a high belief that it belonged to a Raevan.

"Pffft boys will be boys. You just love saying that, Aphi. If you keep telling a guy that though, they'll begin to think they can get away with anything. Tyson better help me though when he is better capable or else I'll break my back!" The kid already knew that when he got older he'd be helping more and more around the house. There was just no way that Lil was going to let the little squirt escape from them. Lillian smiled at Aphi, "I don't mind at al with helping you. It's been nice getting to knwo you better." She placed the two plates and glasses in the sink alongside Aphi's before turning to help with icecream sandwiches. "Okay!" Lil was ready to grab whatever was needed to only find Aphismet handling it himself. So if he had everything settled there was nothing for her to do but lean back against the counter and wait.

Tyson nodded to Rivener's question. "Yeah, Lil and I watch it together. I love when it is a fact too! That means that it can happen." He walked closer and stood beside the couch to watch the show as it unraveled. It wasn't strange that he hadn't expectrf this to be a show which the raevan loved, but if they both liked it then what did he have to loose? Perhaps this could be something they could do when they were together again.

Aphismet laughed. "Well, you've got him figured out, don't you. Hahah! Tyson will most likely be a good brother, he just needs a little time to enjoy his childhood. Honestly, you shouldn't be an adult yet, either... It makes me sad to see you work so hard."

Then he blinked. "You met Isi and Eiry?" He winced. His brother didn't always like Aphi inviting folks over without telling him. "W-were they nice?"

Rivener glanced over at the kid who was just standing there. "Well, sit!" he ordered, scootching over so that Ty would have some room. "I don't like you just standing there."

"Eh? Oh Aphi you worry too much!" Lillian laughed timidly and waved a casual hand at him. "I didn't mean that I'm going to become a major witch and steal my brother's childhood away. I meant that he will still have a good time as a kid, he just might need to pick up his dishes or his toys more." That wasn't too hard for her brother to do. Besides, it wasn't as though she was going to ban him from having any fun. "And I'm fine! Everyone of my generation is growing up a little quicker than you guys did way back when. Must be those conflounded computers and cell phones that are stealing our youth!" She lightly joked, nudging the other in the side to lighten the mood and help her older friend escape from the feeling of silly regret.

Lillian followed up with a laugh and recalled her and Tyson's encounter with Aphismet's family members. "They are okay guys, I mean, Isi's a pretty stubborn kid who has a girl's hair; but Tyson and Eiry had a lot of fun chatting it up." Even though the kid would probably be sleeping with his lights on for a whole week after hearing that creepy Edgar Allan Poe story.

Tyson looked at Rivener from where he stood in total shock. Rivener wanted him to sit with him? The raevan didn't seem like the type to pull pranks either, so Tyson guessed he really meant it. Without any further a due Tyson pulled himself up onto the couch to sit beside the raevan, "Thank you." Were his only words he uttered at his new spot, the rest kept locked up inside and away from his lips. If he uttered anymore words, the tyke feared that he'd get kicked off the couch and sent to hang out in the kitchen where he had no doubt that it was pretty boring in there now.

Aphismet stared at Lil in mock outrage. "Way back when?!" he repeated, laughing. "I'll have you know I'm just 21. I honestly hope you were joking!" His own chuckles were a clear indication that he knew she was. His laughter intensified when Lil described Isi's hair as girly. "Hahahahha! You didn't say that to his face, did you? Oh god, that'd be priceless! He'd bristle like a wild boar." Aphi couldn't stop laughing. "That's rich."

Good thing he was almost done with the last sandwich, because these giggles were making it hard to make a properly symmetrical ball of ice cream. He was able to put it between the cookies without making it too crooked, and he offered it to Lil. "Here. And should we call your brother over, or bring it to him?" Aph asked, taking up his own sandwich.

Rivener half-smirked. How easy it was to change humans when they were young. A few harsh words, and this one was already behaving in a much more palatable manner. "You're welcome," he replied, feeling generous.

Lillian took the icecream sandwich from Aphismet and took a bite out of it. It tasted deliciously sweet! After she was done chewing, she grinned at Aphismet and shrugged. "Well my dear friend, compared to me you're no spring chick anymore!" She joked, meaning no harm by her playful words. "But ya know, you are at that speacial age that every teenager can't wait to reach." Although the law didn't hold some teens bak from getting a drink, including her.

"Well....I kind of...might have...said something." Lillian thought back to an hour ago when she and Isi had a run in about their hair. "It's just his hair looks just like mine! It's not like I got a boy's hair cut. Right?" She looked up at Aphismet with pleading eyes that searched for reassurance. "Oh, and we can just bring it in to him. He won't leave the tv until it hits a commerical."

Tyson looked to the side at Rivener and smiled. He had to admit that just sitting alongside the raevan was nice. Maybe the other was right, that he didn't have to chatter all the time to have fun and be happy.
PostPosted: Sat Sep 15, 2007 1:36 pm

Aph chuckled. "No, your haircut isn't a boy's. And honestly, mine is just as bad as Isi's... We hardly ever bother with our hair. We're not stylish! It's hard to keep up with trends." He grinned. "I still can't believe you called me a spring chick, kiddo."

He picked up the other sandwich and started for the living room. "Let's get Tyson his dessert then, lest it melt before commercials! That wouldn't be very nice of us." Aph led the way.

The man smiled softly at the scene he walked into. Rivener adn Tyson, both calmly sitting on the sofa, watching TV together. "Hey, Ty. Here's your sandwich." He handed the cookie-and-ice cream combo to the tyke.

Rivener glanced up for a moment, and smiled at his guardian. This wasn't so bad after all, if they were quiet. The expression only lasted a second, as he turned back to watch TV.

Lillian sighed with relief, "Thank you! Now tell that to Isi sometime so we don't get into a brawl over our hair." Ha! What would Isi have to say to that now? She had someone to back her claim if the kid decided to talk about how boyish her hair was again.

"Oh yeah, he wouldn't be too happy to eat icecream cookie soup." She giggled at the idea of bringing out her little brother a bowl with melted icecream in it. Tyson probably would stare at it for a moment and ask if he could trade with her for her non-melted dessert.

When they walked into the living room to see the two sitting together, Aphi wasn't the only one smiling. Perhaps she was wrong about Rivener, for he was bringing Tyson plenty of happiness.

Tyson looked up and smiled as wide as the chesire cat when he saw the treat, "Wow! Thank you Aphi! It looks great! Thank you!" He took the sandwich and took a bite out of it, "Yum!" It felt as though his taste buds were tingling. "Boy Rivener, when you can eat, you really need to have a icecream sandwich. I'll try and make you one when you can have it." The child told his sofa-mate, making it a promise to himself that he would.
