Hymn of the Silent

Kaosu walked down the hallway, sighing. He was on his way to the kidou class when he heard an 'ow' coming from one of the dojo's. He slid the door open, leaning on the doorframe. "Oi. If you're wondering, teachers are all doing something with the higher-ups. They're only doing a class at a time."

He smiled, walking in. "You must be new. You've still got that 'what the hell' look about you. Rukongai, right?" He stopped a few feet away, handling a wooden bokken on the rack. "Name's Kaosu. How 'bout yours?"

The person who walked through the door couldn't possibly be a captain. But of course, despite her odd, uh, look, she was. Tall and lanky, she had spiky silver blue hair, and a bright pink haori, covered in white floral designs. Her shinigami uniform underneath was average, though she wore a similar pink obi around her waist. To add to her oddities, she had an earring dangling from one ear, and a tattoo of a star under her left eye.

Her zanpakuto was rather small, no larger than a tanto, and she entered the library, and immediately hopped up on top of the main desk, giving a shrill whistle.

"Yo, get your asses over here," okay, so she was far from formal. Was this the teacher they were stuck with until Small Fry was able to return?

The 'lone-wolf' of sorts, Rei, gritted his teeth as the whistle pierced his ears like a knife in a soft watermelon. His left eye twitched as he listened and rested his cheek on one of his fists as the instructor spoke out. "Well....at least shes scrapped the formalities....." He gave a mental eye roll and leaned back in his chair, setting a foot against his table and tossed the book onto the the tabletop, and then crossed his arms, ready to listen as attentively as an uninterested, depressive, angsty boy could. The outer apperance of the instructor grabbed his surprise about as much as a rock on an incline falling off of a cliff did.

Haruko was startled by the whistle, and nearly fell out of her seat. Her fisrst thought upon seeing the new instructor was that she was.... unique. Although, she guessed quite a number of people in Soul Society would be like that. Besides, she wasn't exactly normal herself. HAruko got up from the desk she was at, leaving the books and her notes openand sitting there, before making his way over to the instructor.

Shunketsu hadn't read more than a few pages when he heard whistling coming from the nearby library...Not wanting to miss out on anything, he picked up the two books, and returned to the library, only to find an odd-looking woman standing on the main desk...

Setting his books aside for the moment, Shunketsu approached the person, being that he saw Haruko doing the same...

I wonder what's up...

Masaru was walking fast to the Library. He had a really bad habit of being late to classes, and he thought he'd take care of the problem. He was walking a bit aimlessly through the complex, unsure of where the library really was. He wouldn't have been in this situation if he hadn't dosed off in the dormitories. He was reflecting on his brief encounter with his zanpakuto's soul, and he soon realized that everyone around him was gone. But, he couldn't change what already happened, and continued to look frantically for the library.

He heard a voice from up ahead. It sounded addressing, so he headed for it. He turned a corner to find a larger door than most. He walked in and found the library. He saw the students gathered in one area, and an oddly dressed shinigami with them. He assumed it was the class, and slowly and quietly approached them to join the lesson. He hoped he hadn't missed much.

Kaosu blinked, he felt a captain walk by. "Damn. Well, I guess we'll spare the formalities. See you some other time." He twisted around and ran down the hallway, reaching the library.

Flinging the door open, he brushed his hair back and walked in the class. He didn't see anyone he knew very well, except for Rei. He walked up and sat down, propping his arms across the back of the chair. "How's it going? Haven't seen you in a long time, Rei." He smiled, looking up at the teacher.

"Little unorthodox for a kidou class, wouldn't you say? She looks more like a zanjutsu teacher than anything."

Ethan Olph sat up, taking notice of the teacher who entered the room. Finally, someone who knows what we're supposed to do. Following her instructions, Ethan moved up in the room, trying to get as close to the administrator as possible. Sitting down once again, he waited patiently for her to start, his eyes still darting nervously around.

When she hears Haruko call her nickname, Hikari's first response is to respond and head over there. Then comes the shrill whistle. With a blink, she looks over to the sensei who came in, obviously not Nagi. With another blink, she gets up from her chair and walks over there, curious finger to her chin. She doesn't know exactly what they're supposed to do here without a sensei. She looks between Haruko and the sensei, mind already working out a few things. She is, of course, still tightly hugging her zanpakutou. She didn't think to set the sheathed katana down. At this moment, she's only really interested in what is about to be said.

::Rubbing her right bun against her head, Medixia wasn't quite sure if she was used to not being treated like some sort of noble. At times, she felt relieved nobody knew the Kusinagi name, thus didn't expect too much from her. With a sigh, she stands and walks towards the sensei, hand quickly dropping to her side as she rubs the ring of her zanpakutou. Perhaps she's anxious, but she does really want to learn kidou specialized in healing. The other stuff could come later. She felt it more pressing to learn something she's comfortable with. Still...::

Gah...

::She couldn't help it; work is work. There's no way to escape this, though.::

Hearing the authoritative voice calling out and sensing the huge amount of reiatsu that came with it Sakura sighed. Finally the teacher has arrived. After replacing the book in the shelf he quietly approached the gathering crowd.

Normally, Rei's newer rejective rather than submissive and detached frame of mind would have caused him to move or not speak, With Kaosu, however, the boy felt a strange and rare thing with Kaosu's presence, like he was the only person Rei could connected with in some way on some level, basing the theory on little thought of course. With a huff Rei shook his head and shifted his weight, his gaze drifting off to the side from the instructor. "...Yeah.....it happens when I avoid people...sorry about that." He apologized in an apathetic manner, not recognizing him as a superior as some did; Rei never seemed to recognize anyone as his superior through speech, but that didn't mean he held some sort of respect for them. "Zanjutsu.....if only this were that sort of class.......as for unorthodox....hmph...attention craving and flashy would be my choice of words...."

After a moment of silence, Rei's gaze would shoot off further away from the instructor. ".....Can I ask you a personal question?" He asked, his body stilled as he concentrated on his next set of words.

"Okay, so the way this is gunna work is you're all gunna practice, and I'm gunna let you know if you screw up," a grin from the woman, as she planted her hands between her legs on the desk, and leaned forward.

"I know I'm not your usual sensei, I ain't Nagi-sensei by a long shot, but I am qualified to teach Kidou, least wise that's what Yama-jii says," one hand raised, and waivered slightly in the air. "The first thing I want you all to do is work on your reiatsu focus. That'll entail making balls of reiatsu, and containing them in your hands. Reiatsu is real mutable, like water. You can make it do anything, with enough effort."

Despite her flashy appearance, she seemed to know what she was talking about.

"I suggest you all work on an offensive, a binding and a healing spell, to start things off. There are plenty of books, so you can all find one to study, pair up in groups, if you'd like, and practice passing balls of reiatsu back and forth as one of you reads the chant, and the others follow. This place may not seem like much of a place to study, but 12th Divis managed us something neat. Watch this."

She raised a hand, and made a jerking motion outward.

"Byakurai!" and white lightning leapt from her fingers to strike against the bookshelf, and fizzle, weak though it had been, normally that would have made the shelf explode, and the books along with it. Apparently some type of reiatsu dampener was present somewhere inside the room.

"So, as you can all see, it's safe to let your spells go kaboom in here if necessary. It would take cap'n class to make things blow up, and ain't nobody dumb enough to let that much power off in a room full of valuable books. If you have questions, ask now, I'll be perched here to watch your progress."

Kyo had heard a whistle and was headed for the library. He walked through the door and stood there. it appeared that a class was in session. He noticed the man that he had seen in the dojo. what was his name again? Kousu? He then noticed the the silvery blue haired woman on the main desk. She appeared to be a teacher. "Excuse me," he began, " I'm new here and i heard a whistle. is something going on?"
