"Come on..." He gave her a gentle nudge before he began moving, expecting her to follow after him without being given any more of a reason to do so. It wasn't far to the resting place... And he wanted to rest if only to give his mind a chance to stop thinking.

She almost didn't follow him just to prove the point that she could take care of herself. Eventually she gave in though and trotted slowly after the stallion. It was easier than fighting and somewhere to rest that wouldn't mean letting her wings dry was a more comforting idea.

He didn't view it as taking care of her as much as he viewed it as seeing to it that she would have a place to rest without worrying about the storm... And, perhaps, so that he would not have to be alone in a place with so many memories.
He lead her to the small cave, peering back over his shoulder for a moment to make sure that she had followed him before slipping inside. It was large, roomy and dry... He wouldn't have to stand guard over the mouth of the entrance this time.

She looked around the cave as they walked in and shifted around so she could see it all. Somehow it was a fitting home for the stallion even if it wasn't something that one of their kind usually bothered with. "Thank you Draven..."

Bits of long grasses had been dragged into the far corner to make a 'bed' of sorts and dried flowers lined the floor along one wall. There were traces of apples that had yet to be cleared out. It was homey... Lived in; definately a place where a family had once been.
"You needn't thank me, Kochu." He managed another of his strange, seemingly sad smiles as he turned his head towards her. "I offered you a place to stay should you need it, did I not?"

"You did and i must thank you for it." She smiled softly as she leaned down and scooted a few dried flowers out of her way. "It is ... rare that someone does."
Most took her as an omen of something and she did not blame them. With her looks and her timing she never seemed to be something that came with good tidings.

He shook his head slowly as he stretched his neck out to nudge her shoulder with his nose. "I was once told that we spooks need to watch out for one another... Friendship seems to come few and far between. We should embrace it when it presents itself to us even if it is only for a time when we need it to be there..."

"Friendship or not i will still thank you." She nudged his nose with her own. "Kindness should be repaid and for the moment all i have are kind words."
She could eventually find a way to repay him for the kindness he and his family had shown her. She just didn't know how yet.

Outside the rain began to fall. He could hear it clearly coming from the mouth of the cave. He closed his eyes, gently running his muzzle along the side of hers in a soft nuzzle. Upon realizing what he had done he opened his eyes, clearing his throat as he took a step away from her. "Kind words are more than enough."

She had almost leaned into the nuzzle until he pulled back. "Good." She smiled softly at him and looked toward the mouth of the cave. The rain was coming down harder than she'd expected but no where near dangerous.

Over the next few hours they talked, paying little mind to the rain and even less mind to the time of day; exchanging stories of their pasts as if they were old friends catching up with one another after spending years apart since foalhood. He found himself telling her things just as easily as he had told them to Nostalgia; things about the land he had come from, his herd and the mate that had left him behind for the realm of the spirits.
Tales poured like the rain itself, coming to a slow halt as the birds of morning began to sing to mark the coming of sun and the leaving of clouds. Had they really been talking for so long? What was it about this new friend that made him feel almost as if he were the same stallion he had been before his life had changed? He closed his eyes for a moment. "... We'll sleep the day away at this rate."

She had never had anyone who understood her stories and could feel them the same way she could. Everyone until now had been bothered by them but Draven. Draven understood because he had been there too. He had walked that path just on this side of death and had seen what lay beyond.
The time of day hadn't crossed her mind until he mentioned it. "It is not as if i haven't slept the day away often." She looked out toward the sun shining. "Summer heat and black hides do not mis well as i'm sure you know"

"You'll be safe here throughout the day and the cave always stays cool even with the heat..." He took a step closer to the dark mare, giving her neck a gentle, sleepy nuzzle. His sleep muddled mind wanted to know that she would be staying here with him; that she wasn't going to disappear again.

"I will stay if you'd like.." It wasn't as if she had anywhere else to be and the cave was nice. The company in the cave was nicer than the cave itself but that didn't need to be voiced. No reason to go seeing things that weren't there.

He swayed slightly as it began to settle in just how tired he was. He took a deep breath, releasing it slowly as he looked to her. "Do what you would like, Kochu'Akai. I would never keep you here just because I'd rather you stay... No one should feel obligated to..." He yawned, eyes closig once more. "... Stay by someone's side."
