^_^ Good thing about being a GM is you make the rules. I hate making it harder for people to write fluently but sometimes a certain wound is a trade mark. It's best (to me) for people to ask permission before healing. It's curtious(sp?) and healing is pretty much up there with killing another character in my book. I hate it though when someone doesn't powerplay but they do make other options impossible.

That would be an interesting thread.

Lol.

When I have a healing character in a Rp, I use Hp, Mp, and the amount of Hp healed. Like at level 1 the fighters hp is 60, and the healers only heal 20 hp with the basic heal skill.

I don't like all that stat stuff myself but I can see where it would be useful in a case like this.

Hey, about you being an intermediate player-- it's good to set your standards for yourself high! I expect to see you improve greatly. You clearly put thought behind what you post, but not all of that thought makes it out on the paper so to speak. Just my personal opinion.

Ah, well I got all the formulas figured out. Damage is Str-Def. And magic is Int-Res. I like to use stats so that no one can God mode.

Thanks, everyone can improve, even if they don't try they can improve but not that much. I went from having horrible grammar to good grammar, when I started Rping too. So whoever says that Rping is bad for you, then they are wrong. ^_^

Also Rayne, the healers can go and deal damage if they have to, but their damaging skills make the healer have some down time before they can use the skill again. (Edit) Also they have passive skills that increase their defense, and they have awesome resistance.

I know you're already married- I was referencing one of the old '04 topics. 3nodding

"Ooh.. When did Versi sign up! He seems to know alot of everything. ninja "

"But didn't he just recently show-up? "

"Ohoho... A Mystery."

People should make an Rp about me. and the healing powers of my mod powers. Like the power to make an obscene post go away..

Realizing I'm new to the guild - I'll still post my opinion on healing. Because, new to the guild or not, I've been role playing for years.

First, I like to play healers. Or other party support type characters. There's actually more room to explore the character if there are real things she/he has to strugle with, like combat. Inner monologues while the character tries to avoid getting hit because she/he can't sustain that kind of damage but at the same time feels horrid that they arn't out there helping their friends is a great place to get some good role play done. I don't want Hoss-y characters. I want characters with skills that are useful and realistic but that don't always help in every situation. But maybe that's just me.

As for healers in an RP, I'd say that depends on the game. In a modern/realistic setting I'd say a healer is someone who's a docotor and can sew you back together, but that's not a 'the wound is gone' kind of thing. Or even just someone who'd CPR certified could be a stopgap for healing.

On the other hand, a high fantasy game where there are wizards throwing fireballs is the kind of place that makes perfect sense to have a magical healer. Someone who can only acess healing so many times per day or something. [This is the kind of place rule structires like you find in D&D come in handy.]

Other times it makes sense that if you have a psionic character she/he can transfer the wound from someone else to themselves. Effectivly healing the wounded person but at the cost of taking on the wound to her/himself.

It all depends on the game.

But healers are a great type of character. So too are theives who can't fight but can sure open the locked doors and find the traps. Or the random pixie who's only real skill is that she can link everyone in the party telepathically. There's more to roleplaying than having a combat character. And anyone who can't see that isn't looking at the depth that can be explored with some of the other character options.

[Okay - I just typed all that and feel I've come off as a bit of a snob - and I'm sorry. Please don't take it that way.]

Yea, you didn't sound like an a**. I do agree with you though.

I do the Mp thing, so they cant cast like 500 heals in about three posts. They do have a limit. When they run out of Mp, they need to do a rest, drink an ether, or go to an Inn...

But in my Rp there are no Inns... Evil me. twisted

are there tents? It's a common item but quite useful... They also have a dramatic effect because you're not exposed but you're not completely concealed either.

Edit: GRRR typos!

... I had completly forgotten about those. Maybe I should implement them... But how would they get tents into a cavern... But then again, after a while they will find a huge opening that is like the out side, but it really isn't...

I'll go and work on that soon, and implement the tents. ^_^
PostPosted: Fri Aug 17, 2007 11:55 am

lol if they're in a cave there is no need for tents except for privacy. It's also not that hard to carry a tent in a pack. Really all you need is large cloth and a few sticks or poles to support it. If you're doing it in modern times it's even more convenient but there wouldn't really be much need for tents at all...

Thanks for being so kind guys.

I'll say - I love to role play. I love to immerse myself in the character and escape my normal life. And the more detailed and indepth the character is, the more I enjoy it. So while sometimes 'Hulk smash' can be fun alot of times I prefer 'eep run' and find another way to acomplish the game's goals.

As long as there are game masters who accept both options, you'll be able to find players like me who want to explore them.

Well, what if the healer runs out of Mp, and they need to revive their fallen allies. Also it is taking place in about... I don't know when... But it isn't modern times, it is only fantasy, with no guns, or cars.

yes it is fun to look through someone else's eyes and I love watching other's characters develop and change as they make decisions that will alter their course. When I RP I never truly think through what I write, it just flows through me and out into the keyboard. In reality it's not so much me controlling the character, it's me living the character. At least that is until the RP dies or I log off... ^_~
