Went outside for an hour while it was raining to practice our half time routine
The woodwinds set off pullstring fireworks for our band director one day while practing our halftime routine
This year, I'm with a new band, few kids walked out of the band room, the director had left for a few minutes, into the rain and marched around the school playing their songs from last year without the music
First day of band camp the doors to the band room got stuck and we couldn't get them open, we had to call in a janitor and until he got there, and spent his share of time getting the doors unstuck, we were locked out.
Someone was sitting in his chair and on the podeum there was a list of things to do and they wrote some stuff that dealt with the band (I forget exactly what it was but I'll edit this later with it)

our band camp isnt an actual camp... just us having fun for about 8 hrs a day for a week and then a random saturday later on. but we have fun...always practice outside, and dance in the rain. the stupidest thing this year was done, of course, by a drumline member who chased a skunk clear across our field and then partially down a street. colorguard (which im part of) scares all the new people by spreading stories about catching and grilling squirrels for our lunch. since we eat seperately, and next to the town park, the new kids believe it. every year we have a lipsync contest.. drumline usually wins becuase there were some really awesome guys in it before.. this year they were desperate enough to attempt to bribe the judges with a cake. colorguard won, though with dancing the "time warp" xd
the bestpart of my summer was going to UMASS Amherst (about 2 hrs from home for me) to go to the Drum Major Academy and learn new guard drill. the people who go there are the ones completely obsessed with band, so it was awesome, though i took a few weeks to recover and return to the regular world (where people dont think it's so much fun to march back to the dorms at 10:30 pm, singing, after a day of lectures, leadership classes and drill work. probably the hardest part was going back to guard and listening to the instructor call out marching commands wrong. getting a boyfriend is possibly as obsessed as i am more then made up for that, though.

Mello-phony Our weather was great. Never went above 80! hehehehe! We had some fun times. our section leader made us run, and 1/4 of the way done he said to forget it and go have free time. Our field was beautiful that week, but it was gone when we were done. Then when we got home our practice field was gone thanks to the Football players. The talent show was cool... the chicken...yes... And then, some of the guys did an improv rap about one of the drum majors...and some guy sang the song about the eggs...and the song about breaking the rules...band camp was breaking the rules... It was so fun.. That chicken is AWESOME!!!

Band camp...I hated it this year...maybe because I'm a freshman, and I stayed away from everybody. Didn't matter though, because the upper classmen still payed attention to me...we had these days of the week where we were suppossed to dress up or something based on the theme of the week. So basically it was like this: Monday: Hawaiian Day Tuesday: Clash Day Wednsday: I seriously can't remember this one Thrusday: Favorite Movie Character Friday: School Pride Whoever dressed up the best whould be rewarded with candy and stuff, but on Thursday I doned a black trench coat, leather gloves, cool black shades, black jeans and a black shirt trying to go as someone from the Matrix. It was really hot out too...and I refused to take off any of my stuff. The one thing I remember though...is when we got our new sets I rolled it up like a sword and fought this annoying trumpet kid with it. It was awesome! I did all these Matrix rip-off moves, twisted his arm around when he tried to strike me...it was perfect. The upper classmen saw it and told stories about it, and all my friends over heard it. I did get my candy in the end though! 3nodding

Heh Heh Band Camp!
Okay, here's my story!
I show up, supposed to meet my friend, turns out don't see him till dinner time.
The day before I left I broke up with my boyfriend, and liked my best friend (don't ask, very messed up... sweatdrop ) So I missed them like crazy.
Then first day, turns out me and my friend are in different bands. And all the girls in my cabin are either music theatre, jazz, or that other band! sad And, I'm also from a reaaally small school and we don't have the most advanced music program. So I stunk!!! stressed
Thennn, I end up getting completely homesick, and don't want to go to practice or anything. It's completely cold, so it's not even nice for swimming!
Things of course got better, as the usually do. I made friends with a few of the girls in my cabin, and got much less homesick, and actually managed to have fun. I also got waaaay better and it really helped my playing back home too. I can do triplets till the cows come home. That was a biiiig thing we worked on at camp. And before I went I couldn't play one to save my soul!

One time, at band camp.. just kidding. I hated band camp. It's like boot camp with music. at least it was for us. The Big B (the director) is a perfectionist who enjoys having a loudspeaker too much. We had a great season though. from 8 in the morning (or 7 I forget)to noon then back again from5:30 to 9 every day for 2 weeks. then, when school started, every Monday was like the last 2 weeks. The rest of the week, we only had practice in the morning and sectionals in the evenings (clarinets on Thursday) sometimes, he even called Saturday rehersal!!!! AAHHHHHHH!!!!!!! glad that's over.

Oh, band camp...
How I adore it!
Anyway... last year, at band camp, our only Bari Sax player decided it would be a good idea to slide down the stair rail, with his Bari on, on the first day of band camp. Needless to say, he fell off. Banged up the Bari and tore up his knee, and couldn't march for at least half of the season. -_-

I LOVE band camp! I look forward to it every year.
I'm in a class of idiots. Luckily, idiocy seems to be somewhat tolerated at band camp.
One year a bunch of students snuck out after lights out and had a big snowball fight.... Little did they realize that the director was coming righ up behind them.... All she said was "Hi there", and they screamed bloody murder and ran down the hill. The looks on their faces resembled those of the Home Alone promo posters.
The year after that, (this was right after Halloween) some of the guys began stealing candy from the other cabins, and they were caught in the act! Then in a fit of revenge, the boys who were stolen from threw sanitary pads all over the theives rooms...... I swear they had like 60 in one room.....
