Keeping hold of Crow and Memary's hands, Caitlin started off, following Alex.

She looked around her as they went. The marketplace they passed had a strange variety of objects for sale that she'd never seen before - including what appeared to be dragon tails, mystical auras and orbs of different glowing colours. She listened to the stall owners shouting out their wares to attract custom, and she observed what appeared to be the local police - presumeably a subdivision of Alex's command - dealing with a thief by binding her wrists with a glowing blue translucent rope. Caitlin wanted to point this out to Alex, to ask what was going on, but they had no time to stop and play tourists.

Memary squeezed Caitlins hand tighter to get her attention and smiled, making sure she was ok. Memary looked at everything going on including the items for sale, which she remembered from listening carefully in their school classes.

"Ahem, Alex by any chance these items for sale, are they to help the people here with their magic? We are from a place where magic doesn't exsist the only way to actually feel like we do is by reading fictional books. And do you think there is anyway we can learn magic as well?"

Memary talked smoothly and each word that came out was clear to the wandering ears of her friends and toward Alex. Its been her dream to be in a place where things from your dreams come true and the only thing more exciting than that is having powers rush through your body on a daily basis

Alex looked back at Memary and smiled.
"It really all depends on the person, the merchant, and the items. Some are fakes while some have a very high quality of magic. Like take a dragons claw for instance. It's said to give the wearer incredible powers even if they don't know magic, and some say it can even rip through time itself. But, actualy getting a dragon's claw is tough. People get dragon's tails and other stuff like that, but you have to get the claw while the dragon is stil alive, otherwise all of the magic it holds spill away. But, my personal favorite is getting the tattoos. It helps you concentrate you're energy turns it into magic. Some people don't need it, but they still get it. Like me. I have several infact. Just to let you know you all are going to have to get one. To show that you're with the army. Also, you get discounts at taverns." Alex said this as she beamed at the children. She turned back around still walking.

"A tattoo?" squeaked Caitlin, not at all happy about the idea of needles, even if it meant magical powers. Then she registered the other thing Alex said. "Taverns? Oooh, do you think we could get something to eat or drink?"

She looked at the others. "I'm famished!" she said. "Travelling across dimensions really builds up an appetite!"

((sorry guys, I've been quite poorly recently.))

Alex smiled. "Yes, tattoos. Though it really depends on how long you stay and what your rank is. i know this guy who has one all over his back." Alex smiled even more and then realised what Caitlin had asked. "Sure. Follow me. It shouldn't be far." Alex shrugged her shoulders and continued a different route.

Walking into the dimly lit tavern, Caitlin spotted a dark shape in the corner. She was about to point this out to the others, when she spotted the wonderfully varied range of drinks and caught the aroma of something in the kitchen that made her mouth water.

"I'll try...." she looked at the shelf of liquids, "a glass of that purple stuff! And a plate of the house special. And... oh... how are we going to pay for all this?"

Her face fell as her tummy rumbled.

Alex laughed at Caitlin. "Don't wory. I'll pay for it okay? Since you guys obviously aren't from around here i highly doubt it that they'll except your money." Alex said. These kids weren't that bad.

Caitlin grinned hugely and repeated her order for food and drink. Eagerly anticipating nurishment and refreshment, she almost didn't spot the dark shape in the corner moving.

"I thought I saw..." she began, squinting into the shadows, looking for more detail.

She hadn't imagined it - the dark shape in the corner was a figure, a human shaped figure. But something instinctive told Caitlin to keep her distance.

Alex looked at Caitlin. "What did you see?" Alex asked. She wanted to know so she could be wary. She had to trust that this girl saw something that's bad. Bythe look on her face she had seen something.

"It was..." Caitlin stopped. "No, you're going to think it's silly. I could've sworn I saw...." She blushed and turned to Memary and Crow. Then she giggled.

"It looked like Dracula," she said. "You know, a horror movie vampire?"

Alex paled visibly. "Where? You have to tell me!" Alex said urgently. she couldn't believe whaat she was hearing. What were they doing here? She never thought that they would come here of all places. And now.

Caitlin pointed a trembling finger towards the shadows where the figure had been. She was startled by Alex's reaction - she had assumed she had been imagining things, that the others were going to think the same. The last thing she expected was to be taken seriously.

Cassandra was sitting in her room in the castle, a mirror in her hands. She could easily see the court magician for the other kingdom, the kingdom that she now had an allegiance to. He looked at Cassandra and, anyone that might have been trying to listen would have heard nothing of the conversation between the two of them. After the conversation was over the mirror went blank and Cassandra's reflection replaced the face of the other magician. She sighed and sat the mirror down, watching herself in the mirror for the moment.
