White's at my school are the minority, and I still hear that the black's feel inferior to us, because we're white. I mean I don't care either way we're all humans in the end whether were Mexican, White, Black, Indian, Chinese, Japanese.... ect.

Society may have changed, there may be much much less racism than before, but there are still way too many racists in the world. To many people, they act like there are only a few left, but me, well I am surrounded by racists. Family that's racist. I live in a town that is a majority of racists. Everywhere I go, I'm surrounded by racists, and I'm just thankful that I'm white and most of it isn't directed towards me.

But I absolutely hate being around it all. I stand up to all these people who make these stupid, ignorate racist remarks, but its not ever enough for them to want to change who they are.

As the trend of racism is fading, its still not fading nearly enough.

Racism is and will always be.

I'm not saying it's the correct thing, I'm saying racism will never die as long as there are different races.
It's part of the human entity to think in labels and races.

It shows in everyday life.

I also think it's stupid to stop calling them black. There are blacks living in germany. They are just as much african as I am. Living in europe for the last three generations.

Taking offence in being called black when you are black is about the same as taking offence when being referred to as 'that guy in the shirt over there'.
It's just the simple truth.

I completely agree with RainJosh.

But there are so many things I could tackle in this debate, and I think will right now:

I get mistaken for black all the time because of my appearance, so if there were to be anyone here who would be subject to racism, I'd be one of the handful. Honestly, I'm very respectful of everyone, extremely humble, and pretty secluded to most of the world. I'm what someone would call an unconventional black person if they were to see me and not know me. Thing is, I'm 100% Hispanic, so they're politically incorrect. I've never been a target of racism, though. But let me explain the black community around me and the place I live in.

And let me just say, I am in no way racist, for any of you who would be offended at the following words.

I live in Pennsylvania, which is next to New Jersey and New York, thus within the recent years, we've been getting a lot of black people in here [and I disagree with it being "politically incorrect" to call black people "black," for a vast majority say "white," and that hasn't been ruled out, has it?] and so, gang violence has increased as well as arrest rates and violence rates overall. Not only that, but the hostility and rowdiness of my school has increased dramatically since I've moved here several years ago. I have a very, very, very large group of non-African-American friends. In fact, not that many are African-American, unless they're also like me, unconventional. Geeky, nerdy, smart, humble, etc. And I don't say "white" because they differ, but a lot of my friends are Caucasian. And I've been subject to torment from black people for being smarter than the average black teenager as someone who looks black and is presumed as, of course, African-American. Well, my friends view racism the same as I. It's the black people who commit it just as much (if not, more), than anyone around. They create barriers, living up to their stereotypes and hating the world because it's much more civilized than they've been brought up to be.

My friends say "******/******/negro" (but mainly jokingly, and when they say that word, they don't mean a black person, but just an uncivilized "scum of the earth," there is no color to the word for us) and I love my friends to death as they do to me, so we constantly make black jokes with me being the center, even though every one of them knows I'm not an inch African-American, and it's satire. If people were to look at the status quo by style, they would never imagine me to be friends with people I'm friends with, which is another reason why I value them so much, because we don't see color. At all. We only see intellect and mannerisms.

Unfortunately, the majority of black people (and THIS is the line that triggers the "racist" card e_e), live up to their stereotypes and are just uncivilized. It's annoying to be everywhere in my school where black people constantly say "*****" and are just rowdy, problem-making, and expect not to be retaliated against by anyone. Which also gets me into the whole "My ancestors were slaves 200 years ago" card. That's not going to get anyone intelligent anywhere. There are quite an amount of intelligent black people, and I love those people more than ANY TYPE OF PERSON in the world, for they're humble and they set an example that color doesn't mean you have to limit yourself to the way those who look like you and share your blood act. I believe in a world with civilized people rather than a world with segregated people, even if it's not blatantly expressed as it was back then.

I hope I haven't sparked or offended anyone (particularly African-Americans with my say in this). I've still so much to say, but I'd rather save it in case anyone was to debate with me, rather than me just state this for no one to reply to.

If you believe any one race is superior to another then you are a racist.
So yes, racism does exist.

I wanna throw this out there:
There's BET, Black Entertainment Television, and that's considered okay.

If there was a WET, White Entertainment Television, it would be considered racist and discriminatory.

Do double standards aid racism?

[.If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense.
Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't.
And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be.
And what it wouldn't be, it would. You s e e?.]

Racisim is still very alive
some people just cant get with the times
i believe that all people should get along
there is no need for the violence
if we would atleast comprmise things would go alot smoother
but insted we have people who kill others just because they date outside there culture
i have seen the hate first hand
i have dated a black girl and i am white
and there is NO difference what so ever
accept black girls tend to be a little more laid back

I dont think racism exist with kids, I mean sure we'll say the most racisist crap you;ve ever heard, but most of us dont mean it

I agree with RainJosh. There is really no way to brain wash everyone into not being racist. Actually, I think that the majority of humanity is a little bit racist. Mainly in the assumption category. I'm not saying that it's okay, but I'm also not saying that it's terrible. This is just how humanity will always think as long as there are different races and people are allowed to have their own opinions. (Also, t.v. might have a lot to do with this.)

@Lord tzimisce: Not to sound mean, but it's insanely difficult for all people to get along. If you have siblings, do you get along with them 24/7? How about your parent(s)/legal guardians and other relatives? Or people that get on your last nerve? I'm not sure about you, but I find it very hard to. I understand what you mean though, and it really could be ideal for all everyone to get along. Yeah, there is no need for violence, but sometimes violence is the answer. But politics are getting better though, they have, in the past, solved a few problems without violence. And no, black girls do not tend to be more laid back.. I know a bundle of them that are like wild fire crackers. It's all an individual personality factor.

I have to wonder if racism is really the problem these days or if it's culture-ism. I think the difference is that racism is hating anyone who is black or Jewish or Asian or whatever just because of their color or ethnicity. I don't think most people have that kind of hatred for every single person that matches that description. I think, instead, most people are the type that have, for example, a (fill in the blank with a race, religion, or color) friend but still think things like "My friend is different. Most people of his/her race/religion/color are argumentative, lazy good-for-nothings." I run into that sort of stereotyping more than I do actual racism. That sort of stereotyping is a lot harder to fight than racism I think.

you are so right and i agree with you.
I've never experiences rasism so i don't really know. I'm from Jamaica and lived there all my life and just moved to America 3 years ago. I've realized how some African Americans act and say things that other people arn't allowed to say. But i don't think there's anything to fix that problem.
Maybe over time it will die out.

Racism will exist as long as people believe they are or should be better than others. rolleyes
Don't forget the other --isms as well sexism and ageism they are just as real as racism and no less devasting. cry
We are all human. To bad that's not all that matters.

Racism is still very alive in the world today. Just in the USA there is many types of racism. Of course there is the black and white issue, but there is many more types know. For instants Gangs. Most mexican gangs are fighting with other mexican gangs. Black gangs fight with other gangs, and infact white gangs like the kkk fight with other white gangs like the arian nation. Racism is hatred towards another person, and manly racism is just pure stupid!

No offence meant to anyone, but so far, the worst racism I have ever experienced has come from a large number of individuals in Australia. The White-Policy Country.
It's advertised as such a multi-cultural society, and yet some people are the worst I have seen in my entire life. (To be clear, I've lived in Canada, Syria, Qatar, England and Australia.)

I think it's truly pathetic how some people actually believe that people are so different just because they come from a different culture or country. I just don't understand it; why can't people at least wait to judge people until they actually know them??

Anyway, basically my answer is that yes, racism still exists in great strength and I think that it will take an exceptionally long time until people accept that this needs to change. confused

Yes, it does exist.

For example. An African and Native Canadian can get into college with a 60% average, while a 'white' Canadian would need about a 70% to 75% average. There are also "Black Pride" clubs but no "White Pride" clubs. If their were, people would see them as another KKK, probably.

And yes. A lot of "white" people are still racist toward Asians, 'Blacks' etc. It frustrates me, because the only difference is skin colour and minor body structure differences. I hate all racism because it is stemmed from idiocy and ignorance.

You're exactly right. It's up to us to look past what we see. I could be considered "African-American" or Black, though I am not either. Case in point: A few of my ancestors came over to the US [slavery]. Then I have Native American blood [3 generations ago, however]. Then add in the Irish ancestry, and the Chinese ancestry [I have no idea how that got in there!]. But, because I am more "African" than any of the other nationalities in my bloodline, I have been considered African-American. YET I AM PERSONALLY NOT FROM AFRICA!!! One more question: Who's the actual minority? go to cia.gov[yes the real cia] and click on World Fact Book. Hmm....

Rascist's are small minded people who think they are bigger than they are.
They put other people down because they think they are better.
They use words instead of thinking.
They don't care; because they have no feeling.
Because we don't matter to them.
I pity them.
For being so blind.
For being so dumb.
For having no sense.
They've lost so much.
They make the world small.
