according to me there are only three reasons why a person gets an abortion. the first reason is by being pressured by someone else like a mother or boyfriend. i find that lame because if she can do it...she can have it.if she didnt want the baby...she couldve told him to get out of her pant. if it were a rape situation, she could simply have the baby and give it up for adoption. even if it wasnt her fault for being pregnant she still has no right to end the childs life. many people who are raped say they feel like a victim. and if so she should also consider the baby a victim because it is the victim of her plot.
the second reason that i see that people get abortions is for health issues. there are some cases where if the mother gives birth, both her and the baby will die. this is still no excuse for killing the baby. science has progressed so much over time that now it is possible for the baby to be trasfered into another woman. with this new technology both the mother and child can live.
reason number three why people get an abortion is to keep their figure. quite trying to keep looking like hilary duff and paris hilton because they only have figures because they dont eat. its estimated that wayyy over fifty percent of women loose their figures when they grow older. if you are worried about your figure after you have a baby, i have the number one solution for you : EXERCISE. trust me , you will be fine.
therefore, i think abortions should be illegal.

The effects of overpoplulation manifested themselves many years ago in the forms of starvation, disease, and war. In the instance that abortion is oulawed on all corners of the globe the negative effects of starvation, disease, and war will only be magnified; It is as thus that I am a supporter of abortion. I do not, however; support those who use abortion as a means of birth control, and firmly believe those using it as such are the ones needing to be aborted.
It is to be kept in mind that all dominant creatures reach their climax population at some point, and from there the species is either abolished or reduced.

abortion is wrong unless the baby will die anyway or it will kill the mother otherwise it is wrong some people dont think that they think its my choice if i get pregnent or not which i can understand perfectly its a free country

Ghost_Major If the mother doesn't want the baby, she should put it up for adoption not kill it. That way they both win. The mother doesn't have to put up with the child, and the child gets a family that loves them.
it's not necessarily win win.
giving birth to a child is extremely painful, and the nine months cause be exhausting for the mother.

You all put yourselves in the baby's shoes. What about the mother? Doesn't she get a say in this? Especially if her case was a rape case. She shouldn't have to suffer what happened to her. If she was an older adult, I could picture her saying, "No, I want to raise her."
But with teen mothers that were raped, they are still children. 16 is not an age to be having a kid, rape or no rape. If it wasn't rape, then I don't think they should be allowed to have an abortion. Those are the tricky people. They are abusing the abortion option like it was some pregnant pill that keeps them from being pregnant.
But the rape cases do happen to young teens and they shouldn't have to give up their childhood because of this. They have a certain time where the baby isn't even alive yet and they do the abortion then. Thus, not considered killing it.
It's either that or have some of the more crazy teenager girls have their kids after nine months, keep looking at that baby and getting pissed because they'll think it was the child's fault for ruining their life and then kill it after being born. Then you can call it murder.

What you are all forgetting is that even if abortion was banned for whatever reason, people would have illegal abortions.

it is a win win situation cause neither dies.
And if teh girl was raped, yeah, true, she shouldnt suffer for what a crazy guy did, i dont know, i think its even worse when years later she'll be ruined psychologically because she was raped AND because she killed a baby, you just keep adding problems.
Even if in the moment the girl says she wants an abortion im sure that when she's a mother (if she can have children after teh abortion rolleyes ) she'll regret killing her baby and the guilt will follow her forever. Or do you picture her telling her children 'oh yeah, years ago i killed your unborn b*****d brother ^^'?

I loved you with a fire red, now it's turning blue @Grace- Yeah but... "lolz, I have to kill a life because lolz I can't afford you right now." Uhh.. no... there are so many programs now, that that excuse doesn't hold. The government pays child support money for those who can't afford it. And that money is enough to buy food and clothes as well as other things. Also, there's child care programs for teens. My friend was able to stay in school cause she had child care taken care of and is going to college with the same child care program helping her. Money isn't really an excuse. sweatdrop
@Goldfish- It is a life. A plant can't think for itself, but it's alive isn't it? Besides, you started out as that yourself. We all did. We all couldn't think for ourselves and if you want to go off on strange tangents, you could assume that a newborn can't think for itself either. All they react on is stimuli in their brain and their emotions control them.
As for teens who would have a hard time coping with the pregnancy just to give it up later, well, that's true of any woman any age. The only difference being that the teen probably hasn't had real trying experiences yet and this would be her first. Um, sorry? She thought she was old enough to have sex, sooo we're supposed to feel sorry for the person who's been on the planet long enough to make decisions and not give a damn about an infant that hasn't even gotten to see the light of day?
@MAP- That's kinda a sterotype. And most likely, that person could use something to force them to be responsible. xp
@Yaeka- Yeah, people use it as birth control and that's wrong. But how do you tell the difference between a person who couldn't handle it and someone who's lying to get out of the responsibility?
My friend's old neighbor had five abortions.. five! When she moved out, she was pregnant and she aborted that one as well. She had one son who she left with us once and was "Just going to the movies". When she got home, she didn't bother coming to get the baby. He was so distressed being left by her. And she would leave him in the house for hours alone at night. He'd be in his room crying and she'd be outside hanging with friends who did drugs.
But yeah, too many pregnancies she terminated because she didn't want to use a condom. She was using it as birth control.

Well i have to disagree with you on this one, because.. i am 15 going to be 16. Very well matured with a loving girlfriend i have been dating for 2 years now. And that we both disagree in abortions. We said if she was ever to become pregnant we wouldn't go through an abortion we both have jobs that aren't minimum wage, i make 22$ an hour as a computer tech, and she does graffic design, and she's only 16!
We both are in are last year of High school going to college. We don't plan on having kids ti'll were atleast close to finishing college. So i say no it shouldn't be i live in canada. and i know you may think im stupid for it but i would never be able to kill a child's life.

Well I'm not neccasarily for abortion
but I do believe in freedom of choice
I havent been in (or want to be) in a situation where it is an issue
but they obviosily have a good reason to do it
However I am not down with people using it as birthcontrol
Like "oh im pregnant lets get an abortion" and the next month and next month
but other than that its your choice

All I can say is if you are not ready to raise a child then DONT HAVE SEX!!
Wait until you are ready. Abortion is an abomination. Every life is precious no matter how accidental. Abortion should be totally outlawed. If you find you dont want the baby give it up for adoption to parents who want a baby.

SO if someone is raped, sucks for them? They have the go through the nine months?
And what if it was only a 12 year old who was raped an got pregnant. They could die during the pregnancy or birth. We are selfish-based animals

 Personally, I'm pro-life. I really believe that it's a child at conception and, as such, a person with rights. So in my eyes, it's murder. The child can't help how it got there. I wonder how many potential doctors that could've helped cure cancer, or scientific geniuses that could've discovered a way to conserve fuel sources, that we'll never see because they never got a chance to live.
And also, people need to learn that there are consequences to their actions. If they think they're mature enough to have sex, they're mature enough to deal with what comes of it.
True, some people make mistakes. But I think adoption should be the way to go. There are tons of people out there who would love a child but can't have one themselves. And though child birth is painful, maybe it'll make them think twice before the next time.
As for rape victims. There's a thing called the Morning After pill that completely cleans out your system up to three days after it happened. I'm pretty sure it's over the counter and not too expensive and I know if you go to the police or a doctor and tell them, they'll give it to you free. I know that most people who are raped don't know about it but that's because they don't tell anyone. I know it's hard for some people to talk about it. But it's the lesser of two evils.
I guess I feel so strongly about this because I had a close call myself. I almost wasn't born. And true, I haven't the best life because both parents have always resented me and referred to me as their screw up child, and they fight all the time because they only got married 'cause of me and only stay that way because they think divorce is evil. (Whooole 'nother story *eyeroll*) But I'm glad to be alive.

I believe that it should be legal. People say that they are killing babies, but there is a huge difference between killing a baby and preventing it from being born.
