"From the Laerethe. She wanted you to have it because we're too far from the ship just now. I told her you needed to eat because of the massive amount of energy that you'd given up so Desdemona could have her lover's soul back. She was more than happy to provide." Glancing back at the two dragons curled up on the ground. "I chose the body for the rank it held. He's second in command in the Riders legion and I have a sense of humor. What he's good at, what he can and cannot do, you're going to have to find out yourself."

"Oh...well, that's all well then." Giving an actual smile before taking back to food and not really caring who thought what about her scarfing. It tasted good and she was more or less ravenous and trying to head off a backlash from magic use as well. "

"That doesn't mean anything." Or so he'd like to think, as he could guess quickly whom she was talking about. After all, he lived in the middle of nowhere. There were coincidences and he didn't want to cross paths over something that may not be true. Bracing his hands on the table before him, he leaned forward and thought.

"Are you possibly trying to suggest more pirates wanting to follow this suppose...example and gain their own wings in such as way?"

"It means more then you think, Dragonlord. more then you think."

She knew. you didn't manipulate the sand and stone like that and not leave traces she could find. but she only had theories. no proof. but she wasn't about to get into it with Lycear.

but she did offer him a small smile.

"Only one can give that gift, and I doubt seriously she would. what I mean is this. the former man, Hunter Deacon, is now a golden dragon. the tides of change flowing free. there is war brewing...uprisings coming. you can feel it in the sand and stone. I'll show you."

She took his hand with her crystal one, and dragged him practically outside the city gate. she took his hand in her human one and pressed the other to the sand. it melted into the earth fusing to it.

"Do you hear the whispering of your kin? the soft warning growl of a dragon that has too long been prodded and chained? and now, a figurehead. a brash, pirate lord, in golden form. the Riders pose a danger to him now, and he will know it. he can sense it. and he will protect his freedom. he is a key to unlocking a door. a match resting near the powderkeg. with Desdemona at his side, who will condone and even spur his actions...just as her sister would."

Desdemona listened to the assassin, and nodded her head.

"His abilities are not unknown to most dragonkin that have ever suffered a Rider raid. nothing unusual about his dragonic gifts. Can you hand me that cloth please? and water?"

Deacon was getting far to heated for her liking. she wasn't beyond trying to call for Belle if she felt he needed to be further cooled.

"Is there nothing you can do to help with his basic system? to help him regulate his body heat?"
PostPosted: Wed May 06, 2009 5:49 pm

"I do not wish to help anyone start a war, merely because they now have the means to. If that is the door you are speaking of, I'd rather it remain locked. It is the last thing this place needs. Riders have always been a threat, whom has grown more dangerous with passing years. The reason why less and less dragons roam the sands and stay in ports and cities." Turning a look on her. "What interest do you have in such things?"

"His soul has to settle. Treat him as you would treat a hatching. I'm sure there's some mothering instinct in you. Take him outside and let him splay his wings, that'll vent off the heat. He's used to a body who's temperature is self contained. He'll have to learn and remember that the environment can now affect him."

"the interests of the earth and stone are my interest, dragonlord. the Riders pervert the order of things. they turn your magnificent glory into a shoddy shadow of itself. once this world is restored, when the land flourishes again, there will need to be your kin in the wilds. they will need to recapture thier former glory."

standing and looking at Lycear.

"the only way to do that...is to break the Riders. to sweep them into the sand and sea. the balance of life is delicate. the great beasts your kind kept in check will be renewed. you glory to be restored."

smiling lightly at him and brushing her crystal hand along his arm in affectionate gesture.

"Even the atolls now can become true cities and empires. ports and rivers will be renewed, grasslands, swamps, jungles...everything restored. I am a druid, dragonlord. a geomancer. the pain of the earth is not unknown to me...and I want the earth's suffering to end. and the Riders contribute to it as much as teh Storms ever did,or the shattering of the Orb."
PostPosted: Thu May 07, 2009 7:09 pm

"You want to cure destruction with destruction? While I do not like the Riders or condone their actions...they've managed to deal with more than one dragon that would be trouble for the plane." He wasn't sure what to think...everyone knew that the Riders were no longer what they used to be. They were mere annoyance that had evolved into downright deadly forces. And no one liked to think about baby dragons being purposefully mutilated before they hatched.

Looking to her brushing of his arm, tilting his head some before looking back to her. "Yet...the Riders are suppressed by the harsh climate. I'm not a fool...I know how things will be when it is all restored. I plan to tackle it one thing at a time...with as little war and such as I can. There's been far too much of that."

Desdemona picked up Hunter bridal style, though he was obviously heavy to her as a dead weight and she didn't want to risk reactions if she tried in her natural form. but she took him outside, talking to him, soft, soothing tones, about worse troubles, while treating him as she had seen her sister treat younger dragonlings. No, desdemona wasn't familiar with 'mothering' instincts.

She gave a small sigh.

"I know they have. but the time to strike is sooner, then later. the dragons on atolls far closer to their territory are speaking of resistance and retribution. Desdemona has been spreading the word, we know. the dragons are moving to uprising. you brethren here are too far yet for Riders to really bother you...but many atolls near their territory are finding their children taken in the night, their eggs snatched."

She watched him with a cool gaze. not until a dragon herself, as if she was contemplating something so very carefully that even a mistaken breath might offset it.

"The world restored...means the riders will advance. and their numbers are greater then you suspect. they have commited the ultimate sacrilage against your kind. and it is that secret they hold that has doomed many who study the art of Geomancy. we know the secret. because the earth and stone know it."

She was still munching. "I never said it would be easy to acclimate him. He either learns and lives, or doesn't and dies. And I don't do repeats." Reaching out and hooking a hand on something or other leather of Kelligrin's person. "Let's get out of here, I'll let you lead."

"And what will they do after they have slain the Riders? Who is going to take care of all the Rider Dragons? Do they plan on killing them too, despite that fact that they have done nothing wrong? This isn't just about Riders...there are others to consider."

Shaking his head lightly, as he disliked talk of such things as war. Blinking at her however as she spoke of secrets. "And that secret would be?"

"One of the crew you sent out adopted a riderless blue. she is adapting very well, to being a dragon of her own will...though she would be a dwarf by your standards."

A frown.

"Are you sure you want to hear this, Lycear?"
PostPosted: Fri May 08, 2009 5:28 pm

"That doesn't mean every one of them would be like that. Or that they could survive on their own without someone caring for them, or that the older ones are nothing but stupid beasts. What about how others would think of them?" Yes he worried, but it was his job to worry about everything.

Frowning back at her. "If you didn't want to tell, then you wouldn't have hinted. Want to hear it or not, I think you mentioning it means that I should hear it."

He wasn't entirely sure she was ready to move on her own two feet but knew better than to argue with her. She didn't have the energy to zap him, but zapping wasn't really what he was worried about anyway. "Keep a tight hold." Because if she stumbled even once he was picking her up and carrying her regardless of what she had to say about it. Thus, it was time to climb back up the cavernous slope and attempt to get out of the hole in the ground.

"Did you ever wonder how the Riders can tame dragons? How it is they can match even adolescents in their small groups that number in the low teens, when ever an adolescent dragon here can as you well know, quell riots of larger size in your city by thier size alone?"

she looked out at the sands, and felt the roll of them, the swells of the dunes and the smells of the deserts.

"They have, as Desdemona has attested to, taken entire Clans down with a force that you yourself alone could probably handle. Their secret is old, it is strong of essence, and it is shameful."

glancing back at Lycear.

"One of the oldest dragons lies in the mountains that they make thier base upon. She is weak, she is sorrowed, and the stones feel her agony. She is a great Brass dragon, her scales have grown dull, her head never rises. she lays chained and bound, muzzled. age and the Rider's actions have seen to it that she cannot free herself."

A frown.

"brass dragons have a natural affinity for geomancy. just as you have a natural affinity for magics of fire, and as Jae would for ice. she tries to call to those of us that can hear. and I do hear. the riders bleed her daily. a large gash from her foreleg to her hind leg she shows me in visions. they use this stolen blood, and the power that lies within it, as a ceremonial drink. they empower themselves physically on the stolen blood of an ancient being they should respect and if not fear. they keep her alive through twisted means. they cauterize her wound..then reopen it before she grows to strong or to weak."

A look of disgust and disdain.

"The children of the stars should have ended this long ago. but they did not. the plans of thier Goddess must unfold, they say. It was her plan that first gave the Riders thier leashes! the Earth groans with displeasure, with anger. Thier goddess..if she is as mine, has set into motion the ideas. The Riders found a loophole, a catch to snare their strength indefinately. It will fall to dragonkin to break thier chains. I cannot see the future, Lycear. I cannot tell you what would become of Rider dragons long since destroyed of self-image and will. but I can tell you that when the Orb is reborn, they, like locusts, will seek new conquest."

Turning fully to the dragonlord, and taking his hand lightly in her own, tracing over his fingers in an affectionate gesture.

"Think of the potential war as a preventive measure. of killing a small viper's den, before it evolves into a deep seated nest."

"Since when does drinking dragon's blood do anything?" Most humans knew that drinking a dragon's blood meant little if they had no latent magic. He couldn't speak for the rest of them, but it was still horrible and bordering on cannibalism...after all, Riders were also Dragons. Though he would never understand how one could do such things to others.

"Or kill the dragoness and let things take their course." That was another method he could see in all of this, aside from war. Looking to his hand as her fingers traced over his, making the small muscles jump reflexively from lack of contact in such fashion. Tough decisions but someone had to make them. "Are those the two things you would have me do then."

"I'm fine, you walk." Letting him lead back up into the cooling air of the night, with her eating the entire time and happy to let him be the eyes, standing closer to him than normal as they were standing there. "I wonder if they're still plucking around graveyards."
PostPosted: Fri May 08, 2009 9:11 pm

He did indeed walk, keeping a close eye on her and found that she managed quite well. He was extremely impressed since he'd felt the massive energy drain that it had taken to perform the soul swap and the fact that she was back up on her feet now was rather telling of how powerful she really was. "Probably. They never know when to leave well enough alone."

"No, dragonlord. I would have you be ready to lend aid to your brethren if they call. that if the war comes, and with Hunter Deacon now reborn, the likeliness of that has indeed skyrocketed...that you will aid them."

looking up at him. she did have a fondness for the dragonlord, she'd watched him and admired how he ran things, how he cared for his people...even those that weren't exactly upstanding citizens.

"Because the first ones that will sound a call to you will be Hunter Deacon or Desdemona, I am sure."

A small smile.

"Magics, dragonlord, can do many things. some are corruptable. you know of the fusion of souls between dragonkin. the energy that you pull from each other. the pervert that energy, that ritual. they use dragon scales to make thier cerimonal cups. thier own mounts that fail to live to standard or seriously injured in combat. of thier own dragonkin that have become a bane to thier own."

Desdemona looked up at them, and gave then a small grin, helping Deacon to his feet, and putting his arm around her shoulder and walking him by them.

"Did you find something suitable or to your liking, Savy?"

honestly she's only heard her reffered to as that or 'the necromancer' the bulk of the time so her actual name escaped her for the moment.
