And also, Counter/Mirror Coat aren't limited to just 'counter' rolls, if an opponent is making a counter-attack on you, you just use Counter/Mirror Coat, the same calculation rolls are made depending
That way you can prevent folk from just going 'Tail Whip' in their main turns, then using Horn Attack in their defensive turn =o
And like the limit you said, you can't use it consecutively, IF it's successful
If the Counter fails or isn't used in your counter move, you can still use it on your main turn or next counter, no penalty

Grey Moonfang IV Alright alright we're starting to go in circles now. Based on all the things we've said here's my idea for how Counter and Mirror Coat should work. Counter and Mirror Coat can only be used as a Counter-Attack; and instead of hitting if you roll higher, you only hit if you roll lower. That is to say the move fails unless you get hit. You still take Damage, but then your opponent takes x2 the damage. Additionally there should be some sort of penalty. Either getting Exhausted (and taking damage for it) easier, or alternatively a "Recharge" time like with Hyper Beam. Since it'll only work as a Counter-Attack move, it won't take the failed counter penalty. NO, you got it. That was what I was saying, but I made 1 adjustment. After you take the dmg, you have to outroll your opponent to give it back. So let's say you were hit for 6 dmg ...that turn. During your attack phase, you have to out roll your opponent to hit for 12dmg. Otherwise, your counter/mirror coat failed. The fatigue comes into play to keep someone from forever attacking ...so pretty much ....all that Counter/Mirror Coat do is change your attack turns for the most part. If you don't rest during your normal attack phase ...and continue to attack you will actually take dmg. Because, you counter ...your attack phase actually turns into your defense. I think that is confusing.

I am sorry, but it's hard to think that you might knock yourself out. If you have 13 hp, and your opponent had 4 hp, and they rolls a 4 and you counter it and is successful with like a 20. You are going to knock yourself out? Sorry, but I don't know how to make that one sit right. At least the other way, if you failed ....and got knocked out, it's because your pokemon couldn't withstand their blow ...not the other way around.

Yes that is rather confusing actually; but I get what you were saying before the fatigue part. Honestly I was going to mention more or less what you just said before, however i realized that version is basically what Jazz was talking about in the first place, except calling a Counter/Mirror Coat while on your defense turn. Anyway I personally believe either of the proposed methods, that is to say Jazzfox's or Lunarsun's could honestly work. So either someone else needs to step in to break the tie, or you girls need to flip a coin.

I see it, but I can't figure out why we can't get it together still. For the most part, 1 - Counter/Mirror coat is counter-attack only. (Agreeable) 2 - Dmg comes from the differences in the dice roll along with stats (Though I think it should stick to being the lower roll, so it's not recoil but actual dmg.) 3 - The normal attack phase is dead in the water or lost when you use counter/mirror coat. I don't see why this is so hard, because, we started off agree to much of the same things. Then it went to something completely weird after I left.
