Giving a frown and a light yawn she felt around things for a moment before her hand decided it liked whatever it had landed on and she picked it up, tucking it away for the time being. "Is there any food in here?" Sniffing, but only getting the scent of sandlewood. Could never tell if he had anything on him. Rolling her eyes about naming.
"Oh for the love of Gods. Compromise already. No one is ever going to believe he is who he is, or accept that his soul is in another's body. Use his draconic name as an official, call him Hunter as a pet name. Can someone please get me some food now?"

"That may be, Desdemona. But there are too many who would like to see Hunter Deacon dead and to have them find out he's alive would delay the quest and cause him more problems. For safety purposes, he needs to get used to his new name. If you would like to call him Hunter when it is just the two of you then that is of course your own affair. But don't let me hear it and don't use it in any official capacity. Become used to answering to Taerian. You have his body, you gain his name."
Kelligrin chuckled and pulled some meat and bread out of his bag. Using magic to heat them both, he handed them to her along with a skein of wine to wet her throat. "Here, Vryn. Eat this and I'll see about getting you some water or something."

Glancing down at a sleeping Hunter, who was rather flushed to touch. she'd have to help with that too, before he gave himself a heat stroke. So much to teach him and little time to do so. Before a slight smirk at the stareyed one.
"See, it's not so hard to give plain answers that others can understand, now is it."
It was funny, that not two days ago the opportunity to rend, or attempt to rend this little creature would have been taking up with all the bloodlust and rage she could muster. perhaps it was just that the relief and joy of having hunter back was balancing out the anger and hatred of the person that took him from her in the first place.
"Taerian Hunter Deacon. does that suffice your need to change his name? simply tack this new one on as a first name?"

Sitting herself up she gladly took what he had, making herself an impromptu sandwich out of the items and duly taking to eating both. Like any young magic stressed elf, her body was demanding immediate replenishing. “I’d eat a lizard Chy would bring me, right about now.” As if she hadn’t eaten in three days or something, not that she cared at the moment long as she was getting food into herself.

"No. Hunter Deacon can only be a nickname, Desdemona. He must remake his identity. It is a problem of all soul switching. I will allow him to choose his own name if that would stop this incessant arguing. But it can be nothing even close to Hunter Deacon. It's not an appropriate name for a dragon, even without it's notoriety and he'll be found out."
He was busy digging through his many pockets to find her some more food. After an energy drain like that, she needed as much replenishment as he could find for her. And since they were stuck in this cave right now, well, he'd do the best he could. Handing over the trail mix, he settled it directly into her hand so she could feel the container and wouldn't spill it. "Better?"

Desdemona snorted lightly, but shook her head.
"We'll will find a name. I don't want to use the former's name, and if you say it is dangerous to use his proper name, then we will have to find a new one."
Perhaps she would talk to the ancient ones again. maybe there was some method to help teach hunter about his new body. they simply could not afford the kind of time it would take to teach him without him being a non-functional captain of his own vessel.

"Not much." It was probably amazing the amount of food she could put away when she was like that, she knew that for sure. Finishing off her improptu sandwich, she took to the trail mix he had handed her. Why he would have trail mix was a mystery but it was there and she was going to eat it...save any raisins she came across. Those had to go.

"Very well. He will not take the helm until he is ready. Thobias is a fully capable Captain for the time being. When I am confident in his abilities and temperament, I will give the order and reappoint. I don't have time to stall this journey while he adjusts."
"We need to get you out of here and find you some real food. Let me figure out how far from the encampment we are. There's reserves and such on the ships that will help you get back on an equal footing." Walking over, he engaged the Laerethe in a conversation and came back with a bundle of food. "Here you go, Vryn. The remnants of last night's supper, fresh and hot just for you. And a flask of cool water as well."

Desdemona picked up Hunter, and took him to the far back of the area, laying him on the gold and coins that would probably make most pirate's drool. hundreds of years..even thousands..worth of hoards here. and started going through tomes and such. Soul transference was something new to her, but perhaps someone in the past had some knowledge of it.
Even dragons were not immortal, and the temptation to extend one's life might have prodded one to study this idea themselves. She wanted her Hunter at full capacity as soon as possible. a swashbuckling, vicious, cunning golden dragon captain of the Chimera...the first pirate lord to be a dragonkin.
Drifter was in shock. utter shock. her hand was resting on the sand, but the tremors of the earth were shocking more then even the tremors of a coming quake. her crystaline hand actually dissolved some into the sand, she had to be sure of this. once she was satisfied, she stood up, and made a beeline toward the home of Lycear...and threw open the doors to his chambers.
"We have issues to discuss, Dragon Lord."
Fang was resting on the farside of the glass sea, looking through his spyglass with a hint of a grin.
"turns out our benefactor was right. get ready. our friend said he'll drive them out. we just have to wait. get the longboats ready, and send some crew out to watch a few leagues from us to see if they catch them running.

"Where did you get that?" Not that she really cared as food was food right now. And is she didn't eat and fill herself up she was going to have to suffer the consequences. Which were very very painful. Taking the bundle from him she got herself up as she opened it, picking off pieces of food and eating them. "You probably want to feed him too Desdemona...soul swapping burns up his energy too." Looking back to Kelligrin. "Are you done here then?"
He was going over maps and what not once more, giving a surprised look to the woman. "And what issue may that be? Nothing pirate related, I hope."

"Yes and no, Lycear. the mission of the pirates remains, so far, on course...beyond the reach of pirate lords..but not beyond the reach of sand and stone."
she moved over to the table, watching him a moment.
"Hunter Deacon is reborn. but his form...shocks me. Hunter Deacon the mortal man is dead...his flesh is dust. his new shape..is golden."
letting that sink in a moment and what she was implying.
"the other issue is simple...the one that has been harassing your city has stopped. which leads me to think that their attention has turned elsewhere. So we must ask ourselves, what was here that they had their attention on, and what would make them deviate from that course?"
Desdemona lifted her head, and nodded lightly. she has plenty of food to feed deacon..though she didn't offer it to the other because well it was more of the type of things that she could hunt. raw and uncooked save through dragon's fire.
While she was feeding a semi-concious Hunter, who was trying hard to focus on her words to help regulate his body temperature, she glanced over toward the others.
"Assassin..you picked this body. what do you know of it? was this golden form privy to anything unusual or special to dragonkin? did he breath only flame or something else?"

He watched her back, trying to read further into what she was saying by what passed across her face. "How do you know such things? The sands tell you?" Not disbelieving, just assessing. After all...there was a possibility that such things could happen, right? Likely, the chance was low but apaprently not that low. "This is an issue specifically why?"
Tilting his head some. "The only thing that has changed is that the Commander has gone on a full scale mission to recover shards." Letting his mind try to piece things together some. "Are you implying that they could be the main focus?" Before now, all recovery missions were planned and started in the city.

"I bring it to you because this means that there is now a pirate ship, that bears both first mate, potentially, and captain, as dragonkin. and I imagine you know better then I the reaction that may come from a gold dragon at the helm."
a small smile.
"The sand and stone do not tell me the whole tale. but there are stars among the sands that I can speak to."
though a more thoughtful look.
"The shards were scattered. do we know by whom? for whomever scattered them, or whomever possess some of them now, may have been assaulting here to prevent this endeavor. now that it is fully underway, their attentions may be toward two ships instead."

"A gold dragon as a pirate captain? While unusual...should I be expecting an uproar of sorts? Save from the other pirates? The golds and silvers, with half the other metallics, live the more tribal life...I'm not exactly sure how they feel about pirates but I perhaps could only fear them not taking well to it all."
Nodding lightly at her assessment of the shard situation, which was only peaking his anxieties again for his son. "If I knew by whom, I would have solved this problem already and we wouldn't be in this mess." Giving a bit of a growl from his throat in frustration and anxiety over the matter. "That would make sense, unfortunately..."

She watched him and was careful in her words.
"You know there is one whom you have overlooked I think. many of the collected shards have been found in close proximity to the territory of one, and only one, great dragon."
watching him a moment.
"One who may have thier own grudge, thier own reasons to be aggressive to you. I mention the golden pirate for other reasons. you know the shifting tides, I'm sure you've heard the whispers of change. I see this new act as a key being placed in a locked door. you know how us pirates love our freedom."
