At the swipe from talons, Chylithair gave a screech and poofed into a cloud of soot and ash that free falled through the air to the ground, only to draw back together a few moments later, screeching in the sand and carrying on and going back at the dragon.
Water was like the sky...made her feel like she was falling forever with nothing around her. But there was something else with her as well. It was a familiar feeling. One she knew, one that had come close before just as it did now. One she often induced into others when they deserved it. Why did it have to be water that was going to do her in? Her body gave a painful lurch however as Kelligrin grabbed her by the waist, not that she gave movement to acknowledge that he was there.
She didn't respond to his calling her name as she merely lay there on the sand where he flopped her, eyes barely open and her ears quickly not being the only blue tinging to her skin that was present.

Getting her on the bank was only the first part of this rescue attempt as he soon found out when he hoisted his body onto the bank beside her. He called her name again but she still wasn't responding. And then he noticed she wasn't breathing either. His world narrowed to her and he went into healer mode. Mom had taught him everything he needed to know and he dropped down beside her to check for a heart rate, opened her lips and lowered his own to hers.
Hers were cool to the touch for an elf and he gently blew a stream of lifegiving air then waited a moment and pumped her chest to jumpstart her heart. A bit of magical energy aided it along and after two or three more breaths, he heard the sputter and helped her sit up so she wouldn't begin choking on the water. Making sure she was alright, he left her long enough to handle the dragon.
He was pissed off and bounding after the bird once more. But then he was caught around the neck and turned prepared to rake his talons into his captor before he was frozen like a rock and forced back into his human form. A moment later, he was tied and staked once more.

Catch me if you can. Those would be the words if he could speak, as Chylithair was a crafty one. But seeing the other brought down and bound once more by quickly reapplied runes he had the audacity to perch on the dragon folks head and peck some. Just becasue.
Conversations with death were nothing new to her...but the sudden being yanked out from such things would always get her. She wasn't quire sure what was happening, just knew that there were noises raging in her ears again and her fingers gripped at sand desperately. What the hell just happened? Though her senses were more focused on the little drips of water that fell from her person onto her hands below her, making her jump a little with each one as she was sitting there in the sand in shock.

"Don't hurt him, Chy. I need him in one piece and so does Savryn." That ought to be enough to stem the urges of the bird and he finished physically binding the Rider then moved back over toward Savryn, picking her up and carrying her back into the tent. He didn't like the look on her face much but he wasn't completely sure what to do either. Setting her down gently, he dug in one of the bags and removed a tattered towel. Gently wiping her face and neck, he began to pat her hair dry for a lack of anything else to do.
He growled at the bird on his head though he was bound too tightly to do anything else. Blowing a stream of hot air up into it's face was about all his defense could be.

Some hot air and a warning were enough for him and he hopped down, only to perch on a nearby rock. I'm watching you this time buddy.
Savryn stayed quiet as he came back to her, moving her about and then apparently trying to get her dry. Dry didn't help, it didn't fix things. It started as a little tremble of her body before there was fresh wetness of her face from where he had wiped away water before. A single sob was her undoing and she began to cry without restraint. Something she hardly wanted to do in front of someone else. Crying was not something she enjoyed.

He really wished she'd just say something. Granted, his heart was in his throat and he was completely freaked out but seriously. Say something! And then she made a noise and he frowned. Was she...crying? No, those were just the water droplets from her hair. Thus, back to drying the ends. And then she sobbed and he blinked. Oh crap... Females and tears.... Gathering her up in his arms, he held her close to his chest. "Hey, Vryn. I've got you and I'm not going to let anything happen to you. It's okay."

It could have been just something reflexive, or something from her childhood, or just maybe her own notion do to so; that she did what she did next. Turning in his arms, and despite him being drenched just as much as her, she let her fingers grasp at him almost frantically as they looked for something to hold onto to tell her she wasn't falling forever anymore.
Pressing her head against his chest, letting her ears listen to the beat of his heart and the intake and exhale of his breathing. No, Savryn didn't fear death she was friends with it....but water....it took her very world away. And without the world she knew, she felt helpless...and she never wanted to feel helpless. It validated something she never wanted to think was true.
Right now, she didn't care what he thought though right at this moment. Things were still dull and slick and not all there and she just wanted that back so badly.

He was being vaulted back in time to one of those many times when he'd been running outside and fallen. Scraped knees, scraped hands, blood staining the rocks that had cut him up so badly. He'd started to cry despite the fact that he was firmly convinced that he was too old to do so and a moment later strong arms had lifted him off the ground. He was carried inside and the whole time he cried and clung but he remembered how soothing it was to be held and comforted. And that's exactly what he did.
Holding her tightly, he gently wiped her tears as they fell, murmuring soft words of safety and comfort to her. Whether they meant anything or not, the sound of comfort was what was important. He felt protective of her and wanted her to feel better, wanted her to know that she was safe. And so, he let her cry.

It was humiliating to say the least, or at least that's how she would say it felt if she really cared at the moment. To be reduced down to this and in front of a practical stranger who was trying to be a friend. But she wouldn't stop damn it! Stop crying! She was bawling like an infant begging for a bottle. Stop it! Just stop!
Though she did start to calm as he tried his own methods, giving her something to at least partially orient herself to. She knew the sound of his voice, knew how it was bouncing off the fabric of the tent and other things there, giving the space some sort of space. Her crying quieted down to sniffles and soft tears with the occassional hard sob where she had to catch her breath.
Bracing her hands on his chest, she pushed away from him, trying to force some space. Only granted her falling away from him onto her backside which probably was none to attractive a move and her just dropping her face into her hands. No really, get yourself under control some...just get your whole orientation back.

He knew a little bit about how she was feeling and let her handle herself. When she tried to pull away, he let her. He wasn't about to force her into a position she didn't want to be in. He caught her gently as she fell, steadying her with a hand but the moment her balance was achieved, his grip disappeared. The silence was deafening and he searched for something to say but nothing seemed appropriate. Instead, he pushed the cloth he'd been using into her hands and sat back to let her recuperate. "Don't worry, Vryn. It never happened." Thus, he got up and headed outside to fetch his cloak which was lying at the bottom of that pool.

She was always taken back to the first bad experience with water...it was simple enough. Just taking a bath, her mother helping her and all was going well...until she had to rinse out her hair. Of course the favorite method had been the flop yourself back into the deep water and frill out your hair thing for her...but that first time she tried that, the new world she had been trying to live in without her sight, fell apart. Granted nothing bad happened, her mother was there, but the point was that she had learned what water could do.
Never happened...he was trying to make it better and she wanted to believe him. But it wasn't that simple either. While he wandered out, Savryn merely pulled her knees up and wrapped her arms around her legs, resting her forehead against her knees. Not taking any motions to get herself further dry or anything. A cough or two that brought up some more water, sniffling still and shaking lightly.
Just feel out what's north and you'll be fine...or should be. Just figure it all out, grab the damn dragon and head to the damn cave. Get it all over and done with. Suddenly she was severely missing home.

This time, he stripped some of his clothing off before diving into the water to rescue his cloak. There were far too many weapons in there to just let it go. He fished them all out and sat on the bank putting everything back in place and giving her time to gather herself together. When enough time had lapsed and he made sure the dragon wasn't going anywhere, he returned to the tent and studied her for a moment then chose to ignore her. She didn't look like she wanted his company anyway.

He was around her again but he was quiet and they were once again like strangers merely moving around each other and sharing space because they had to. She wanted to leave. Now. "Thank you." Reaching her hand out to feel around for her things, she grabbed them and pulled on whatever needed to be, haphazardly and such not that she cared. "Can we please leave now?" Hello sudden bout of manners as well. Please agree...

He blinked at her words and stared for about five minutes. "You're welcome." He hadn't expected that from her...did that mean something was wrong? "I don't think that's such a good idea. Why don't you sit down and take a breather, Savryn? You almost died. It would shake anybody up." and Cosmyk hadn't had enough of a break yet. It was going to be heavy load with the three of them. He was tempted to force the dragon to carry them back but that would likely end in disaster.

An almost pained expression as he agreed otherwise to what she wanted to do. No! She wanted to leave! She wanted to get as far away from this spot as possible. "I'm not scared of that!" Suddenly yelling in his effort to try to put sense to it all and getting it wrong. "Death is nothing to me! It's already been after me twice, I don't care!" He didn't understand, he probably never would...most though it something stupid to be afraid of water, let alone as afraid as she was. "Please. I. Want. To. Leave."
