So I saw this, and it made me happy I don't live in the states. Politically it's just sooo dumb.

The real question to ask is how much money the frozen foods industry stood to lose if pizza would have been banned from school lunch menu. Obviously this was a move by corporate America to protect their bottom line. Same reason Occupy Wall Street has been met with such a backlash; Corporate America doesn't like the message because it challenges their very way of making money.

Figuren So I saw this, and it made me happy I don't live in the states. Politically it's just sooo dumb. lol!!! Gotta love politics! Figuren But tomatoes are fruits, not vegetables. Yay for technicalities! Now we need to petition congress to change the law to say pizza is a fruit instead of a vegetable.

cereal, your response was way too harsh. neutral this isn't a debate forum, we have a subforum for that. Foxy was giving you her opinion and advice so as to be helpful. you shouldn't go around proclaiming your opinion so much better, ridiculing and name-calling people for differing opinions.
the RST is not a place for fighting. the appropriate thing to say is that you don't agree with that and to give your reasons why not. you presented valid reasons, but in a way that was as though to attack her. don't do that again.
personally, for example, I don't realy like any electronic companies. they all use resources gained in horrible ways, but apple probably does it the worst. leastways Bill Gates is giving back to the world at large in some way, and Linux comes across to me as a for-the-people kind of operating system from what I've heard... but to each their own.
@ Figuren: I'm glad to hear of your good news. ^_^ do keep us posted on how that works out. getting extra money is always a good thing.
and I have to agree with what you say about guns. I'm still always going to stand by the logic that those who would use guns to harm people are going to get them whether it's legal or not, and that if you don't have access to one you don't stand much of a chance to defend yourself... but I certainly don't condone whipping one out in response to just anything.

Chieftain Twilight I'd say so. for some reason, engaging in the activities you normally do but hadn't been in a while leads to further improvements of one's negative condition. and I wouldn't call it spray and pray... more like not wanting to think about it. if I think I am too slow, I can't be reactionary. everything has to be fluid or I'm a dead man. luckily, I've not had to be in such a situation in a long time, and I'd like to keep it that way. but if and when I DO get a gun (and I realy hope I can at some point) I'd want it to be a handgun, not a rifle. that way I can conceal it. Handguns are a lot harder to obtain than rifles because of that very reason. Plus you'd need a permit for concealed carry which is another pain in the a**. Then you have the whole issue of the permit to acquire a handgun only lasting one day so if you can't take possession of 2 firearms in one day and have to space them out a couple days apart, that's 2 sets of paperwork you need to file plus the tax you need to pay. It gets really damn irritating sometimes. Still if you do get a handgun for concealed carry purposes, make sure you get one that can be easily concealed. A single stack 9mm would probably work best. A single stack .45 can also work but then you might run into issues such as weight and ammo per magazine. I guess it ultimately depends on how much faith you have in your ability to perform under pressure. If you don't think you can hit them in less than 8 shots, the 9mm is for you.

I think it'd be worthe it though. smile you realy think the 9mm is what I should do? I can gt a hit pretty easily without having to aim realy... but it's definitely not the MOST acurate... plus, another factor is making sure that I don't cause casualties. main protection there though is to just not ue a gun when around innocent people.

Yeah 9mm does have a tendency to overpenetrate targets. Still if someone's wearing a thick and heavy biker's jacket, that extra penetration might mean the difference between needing 1 or even 3 shots to incapacitate them. I mean .45 is a big caliber but its low velocity can't penetrate well on harder targets. 9mm para is a very universally selected caliber along with .45 ACP but honestly, if you have a lot of confidence in your shot placement and reaction under pressure, I think a .22 LR will suit you best. You can carry way more ammo than in a 9mm or a .45, recoil is negligible, very concealable, and a subcompact pistol's small dimensions make them much more handleable in close combat (ie the guy is choking you out or something). Still its lack of penetration and stopping power means you need to aim for vitals ie. the throat. All in all, 9mm or .45 is generally the way to go. An alternative middleman between the two would be the .40 S&W/10mm. Performance is relatively similar to that of a .357 magnum and its lower recoil and smaller dimensions when compared to .45 ACP make it slightly more concealable. In reality, all calibers are good. It's just some are better in certain situations than others so you ultimately have to decide for yourself what is more important: ease of use, performance, or reliability.

my favouite gun is the Jericho, and I've had my eye on a .45 cal for a while. but what you just said about the 9mm makes me want that instead. it's also cheaper and standard issue for that model.

Foxifyre Aakosir Oh holy crap. How long has it been since I've logged on!? Anyways! I'm back! OMG! *Glomps* Haven't seen you in ages! Heh, yea. But I'm back =^_^=
It hasn't been a good day though... I turned 21 today and was expecting a bit more than what I got from my mom (not present wise). I don't even think she told me happy birthday and she left around 5 pm to go out with my brother... So I had Chef boy ar d speghetti for my birthday dinner.... I'm really hurt. She's been getting even more immature and selfish lately. We're so close to moving out, my husband just needs to get this job he's going to now, then I'm outta here.
