And you can't tell me that's not a twisted way of meeting someone... granted I can't talk.... meeting Yume in the middle of hunting a Windgo is not a way most people would introduce themselves.
Daemon replied back in a huff.
Seriously.... Long has had the most normal meeting with his wife... and it's Long... he can't go on a mission without setting something on fire.

You want to know a story of someone meeting someone in a twisted way? Gion asked, amused. Because I could tell you if you wanted ...

Really? You know one too?
Daemon wondered if it was another family matter... it quite well possibily could be.

Gion chuckled. My nako, he affirmed. I told you about her childhood, right?

Bits and pieces yes... since we were trying to figure out about the man who had me.
Daemon coughed, he could not believe he had been in the sword for that long.

Gion chuckled. Well, the man who found her at the side of the road was my neko's father, he explained. Nako had gone to their house most often to beg for food, because they were one of the few people who would actually give her some ... he got annoyed with her and started refusing to give her more food, and she eventually got so hungry she tried to find her own - and ended up poisoning herself with mushrooms. He was the one who found her at the side of the road and brought her to the healer's - where you were. So ... she basically met Neko when she begged at his door ... and then later, he trained her to use a sword, and other weapons, and eventually - a long long time later - they got married.

Now there's an interesting twist.
Daemon chuckled at the thought.
So that's how she ended up living with the healer.

Well Dai - Neko's father - refused to have anything to do with her, Gion explained. And of course no one else would - so Murdoch figured, as long as she could work to earn her keep, he would keep her. Eventually he came to look at her as a daughter, which ... was sort of problematic after a while.

It was?
Daemon wondered why or if it had to do anything with her background.

Because he treated her like a daughter, and encouraged her to do things that fathers encourage their daughters to do, Gion nodded. Like get married, settle down ... She couldn't do either, she had an assassin after her, but she couldn't make him understand without telling him who she was, which she was scared to do because she thought it would make HIM a target as well.
He paused a moment before adding, Which it did, when she did tell him.

And he's a pacisfist to the extreme if I recall recorrectly.. that really must have worried her.
Daemon commented seriously, he understood the need for peace and he respected pacifists.. but to that extreme he couldn't understand. You'd have to live in a protective cage which not everyone had that luxury, or wanted it.

Well, she did look upon him as a father figure as well, Gion mused. And yes ... she worried about him constantly.
He sighed. It just about killed her when she couldn't protect him ...

Yes.... the war... Daemon wondered if the healer had forgone his insistance to not fight and picked Daemon up if he could have helped at all. It seemed unfair to him.

I don't even know how he died, Gion mused. She refuses to talk about it, and it makes sense ... but it also makes me somewhat curious, because I know it wasn't directly because of the dwarfs ...

Caught in the cross fire, it could have been in the wake of something else... who knows? War is chaos it's hard to tell and it would take a historian years to fully figure that out. Daemon replied knowingly.
