@Chaos and Silph: Thanks for your help, are there any basic phrases you could teach me?

@Alamoria: Doesn't that mean "I DID IT!"? Hiro Nakamura ftw biggrin

Right, Katakana is used for any foreign words and first names. Hiragana is used for native stuffs, and no need to get into Kanji.

Basic phrases...

Here's some basics:
(These are how you would pronounce them, not write them, it's complicated, I know.)

My name is ______.

Watashi no namae wa ______ des.

How do you feel?

Ogenki deska?

There's a lot more but these are some pretty simple starters.
NOTE: wa, ga, ka, no, to, ni, de, and mo are all particles, and will further complicate things. sweatdrop

Also, NEVER refer to yourself as _____kun, chan, or san. These are only used when talking about someone else.

I think so, but I don't know for sure. If nothing else, it definitely allows you to read faster.

Kanji can be whole words or parts of words. They can become difficult because when placing two next to each other, it can change the words and how you pronounce each kanji. But as Sliph said, as long as you know them it makes reading much faster.
