Blasted idiots- if it weren't for the fact he'd be so outnumbered without them, Jorianth would have no qualms with wishing many a violent death upon the two immature brats on the ground. Still, for whatever else, they had their uses.

"Agreed," he told Sicily, "on both accounts." Shooting a thin smile to the light-spirit as it whined at the supposed maltreatment from friend and enemy alike, the shadowmancer paused to consider and spoke- "Though I will not hesitate to warn you, if you do not deliver, I will be forced to look for other souls to take for my own benefit." An artistic pause. "There were certainly a good number of little ones among this group. I'm sure I could pick off a few before anyone noticed, if need be, don't you think?"

His point was made, and he was assured of it. With an almost mocking swagger, the spirit walked past the light creatures, headed down the hall and out of the HQ.

"I expected no different," Sicily answered, following after him and ignoring the two twins who, upon seeing their second in command stride away, scampered after him still flinging insults at eachother.

She didn't let their squabbling fool her. Those two were deadly with their combined powers. She promptly disappeared out of the headquarters, Osrit following sullenly.

He hoped this lady knew what she was doing.

Still grumbling, Cri dragged its heels at the tail end of the group, quite displeased with having been narked at by Sicily and Jorianth both. It wasn't allowed to have an opinion, now? So not fair!

On the way out, however, the light-spirit was at least considerate enough to pause and inform those watching- "Sorry for the worry, folks! We'll handle things from here, so don't you worry about those bullies anymore!" Another sparkly grin far better suited for a manga or anime before the friendly spirit, bolstered by even this brief positive contact, went bouncing out after the rest.

The headquarters was now quiet again, if not a complete mess. The battle outside raged, but it wasn't concerning them any longer. Ianna would likely have to repot the entire garden, though.

Now that something was at least stable, the people inside the building would be able to regroup, tend to the injured, and take a much needed rest.

Rouge stretched. "Ugh. I think that for now we need to rest. If they're going to duke it out I say that we should regain any energy we can. If they don't win, we're gonna be in deep s**t." she mumbled, leaning back and closing her eyes. Her ears were alert to the noises around her but she needed to rest her mind and body.

Shira looked at the floor dully while taking in what Rouge said. She sighed and took up a spot next to Rouge and the children, placing the sword within reach and lying down next to it. "Guess you're right." She stayed awake for abit, unsure if she should let her guard down so easily, but before she knew it she was drifting away into a light sleep.

The minute Zah latched on, Yashi clung right back to his friend, face pressing against the drows blood-smattered cheet. Zah was taller now but Yashi was still older, he was still able to comfort people he cared about when they needed him.

Zahs murmured words met the foxes ears and his arms only tightened. Soft, soothing noises, wordless and shapeless, left his lips, one hand moving to touch Zahs hair. "I know, Zah... It'll be okay, though. Sad and painful but," Another tight squeeze here, "You still have people who care about you. Just remember that."

Those were the words. Yashi fell silent afer that, ignoring the words behind him, and merely swished his tail around to partially hug Zah as well. The drow liked fluffies. Maybe fluffies would help this time.

"Yeah," Taylor said woozily. Now that the adrenaline was wearing off, she was feeling very tired, and more then a little dizzy. The bleeding might have stopped on her ankle, but it still throbbed with a kind of hot, dirty feeling. She wondered if was getting infected, but stopped that train of thought quickly. She did NOT want to know what kind of germs a shadowy in between world harbored.

"That sounds really good," she said softly. "Spa on another planet... do we still get cucumbers? I like cucumbers. When we get out, I'm first in line."

She yawned as well, leaning forward to rest her head on her hands. "Resting sounds... really good." But even if her body was resting, her mind was still pondering Shira's question. How would they get out of this place? It wasn't like they'd gotten lost in the woods or anything. More like lost in the worlds.

If only she'd brought her physics textbook. That might have had some information.

Even now, with the danger momentarily passed and a soothing sense of calm and rest among the group, it was a good several minutes before Vana would do anything. All through the chaos, the little babe had just listlessly lay there; it was all more than she could have kept up with, had she tried, and far more than she could have understood, if she could. But now, with the world returning to something resembling sanity (if only the color would come back, though!), Vana stirred.

The fern girl slowly sat herself up, focusing her tired eyes down at her feet. If the world would have allowed it, her eyes would seem red and swollen, although the girl had never actually cried.

There was a strange part of her that had come to terms with the broken Guardian bond, that could comprehend what it meant. Death was not beyond nature's ken. In fact... death was one of the very definitions of nature. A thing that never died, never lived; and if a thing should live, but never die, it would be wholly unnatural and sickening. Danny had not been like that. Danny had been... very, very true to nature.

There was meaning in life, but there was just as much meaning in death. If Danny was dead- and Danny had to be dead- then there was meaning....

Even so, with all this strangely sorted out in her head, nothing could keep her from hoping for her Guardian to magically appear nonetheless. Distressedly, the Lesidhe child began to chirp, the same small peeping noises of a baby bird in the nest, hoping its mother might come home.

God, it was so nice to hold something living. Even the child-Drow had an added shiver for realizing he had been carrying one of the dead. Zasalamel didn't say anymore, either...but that didn't mean Yashima's words went unheard or unappreciated. No, they meant everything to him right now. His Ilhar was gone, yes...but there was still someone here for him. He clung to that thought, as desperate as it was. Though one bond had been so cruelly severed, there were still other bonds, though weaker in comparison, that were getting stronger.

Zasalamel had buried his face into the top of Yashima's head, between his ears...and his arms, though shaking, never faltered from their grip on his friend. It was comforting, having Yashima here. If ths fox hadn't followed him, he didn't know what he'd do...but regardless, all he could think about was the chant he'd spoken outloud only a few minutes before; even it was in disbelief. Like them, the world had fallen silent to his ears; he didn't hear the women talking, nor did he hear the sounds of battle going on in the gardens...

That was, of course, until Vana began to chirp. That chirp shattered what pieces of his heart that had ben left intact. Slowly, the Drow lifted his head, turning it towards the playpen on the other side of the room. They were in the same boat now, weren't they? He'd seen Danny die when the troll came, and he'd seen Danny carry that particular baby before all of this happened...but he didn't need to recognize the little girl to know it. Her chirp was enough for him, and she was making the noises he could not.

Slowly, he let go of Yashima, though not for good. Desperate to keep the fox with him, Zasalamel grabbed his friend's small hand before wordlessly going over to the crib, at first just staring at the little girl. They were both orphans now, weren't they? But there was one difference...Zasalamel had someone. He had Yashima, He had Kishi...he had his brothers, his sister, he had Onuris and Metis - though he really didn't like how closely related she was to a spider - and Malen and Patrick...the list of people he could turn to was long and kind. But this babe...wasn't she too young to have someone?

Slowly, he let go of Yashima's hand, though he moved his foot back to rest near the foxs'. Despite Vana being female, and despite his awkward way with infants, the Drow reached into the playpen and, being careful of her vines and leaves, picked her up. Well, he didn't know her, but they were the same, weren't they? He didn't know if this baby had anybody else to comfort her but...right now, she had him.

But even if it was just him, a complete stranger...at least it was somebody, right?

A child her age, confronted with the loss of their anchor to the earth, had very few choices available to them. Either they refuse the world that caused so much pain, and in doing so, were no doubt destined to sink into a final death- or else, they choose to keep moving in hopes of finding something new to tie them to the world, and struggle to remain aloft. There was something in her that despised the notion of the first, that snarled and growled and furied at even the slightest weakness she had to show. She was not ready to give up on this place just yet, no matter how much it hurt.

Just at that moment, somebody was exactly what Vana wanted.

That being the case, she couldn't have been more fortunate. As she lifted up her head, miserable and confused, hoping beyond reason for a familiar fuss as Danny would come to pick her up and smooth her hair, that small little whisper she'd use to comfort the babe, a comforting bounce in her step as she'd try walking the little girl over to the herb garden they grew out on the porch of their little apartment... it wasn't Danny's face that appeared, though. One that was utterly novel and strange showed at the side of the playpen, and strong, if still small, hands lifted her out of the hindering place.

Unashamedly, the baby girl clung onto this darkened stranger and buried her head in his chest. Tiny, anxious chirps escaped into the grey-soaked cloth there, as little fingers wrapped themselves into Zah's shirt, twisting the fabric in clumps. She was absolutely terrified that too light a grip might prompt him to lay her back down, might suggest that she didn't want or need him. The moment of refusing the company of others had passed; there were so many things wrong with the world right now, comfort from anyone, even if it wasn't the exact person she wanted it to be, couldn't be anything but perfectly right. She didn't want to risk him leaving her alone, not for an instant.

Yashima followed along with his friend, squeezing his hand tightly as they rest by the crib. THe hand fell but a leg pressed near him...and then slowly, the girl child was raised up into the air. He didn't care, for once, that his hair was mussed or that his outfit was horrendously matted with blood. It wasn't important, right now. Zah was.

The girl was.

"Her kaasan was-" He cut himself off slightly, jaw setting. "The girl. The one who protected Kay, right?" The fox lowered his voice to something soothing once more..the girl needed a hug as much as Zah did.

He leaned into his friend gently, head tilting on his shoulder as one hand rose to touch to girls hair quietly. She was clinging to Zah like a lifeline and maybe she needed more then one person to have hold her, sometimes.

"She'll be okay too," He murmured, fingers stroking slowly, "...do you know her name, Zah?"

Coailiann began to stir at the birdsong, her green eyes slowly coming open though blurred from her extended period of not being actually concious. Had it all been a dream? No, the pain in her foot was still vivid and very much there, made worse by ignoring the pain in the first place to do what she did.

That meant that two people were dead because of her. Two. The sidhe bit back tears and slowly sat up, rubbing her white head.

Was it over, finally? It was silent, no battle raging, no shouts of terror. Was the episode finally done? Could they go home?

...No, it was still completely and utterly colorless. They were still there. How would they get out? The child wanted to cry - she was so tired of being strong but hell, Zah and Vana had lost their guardians because of her. The least she could do was be strong.

Slowly she stood up and let out a sharp cry of pain as her foot touched the ground. Kay would have to ignore that. Quietly, she dug her teeth into her lip and hobbled over towards her friends.

...Would they hate her?

Zasalamel held the little girl close to him, her desperation to be held quite clear. Even if she was female...she was a baby, and she was lonelier than he. Perhaps in the future, he might insist that he latched onto her to prevent her from coming after him with malice, in the event he had left her alone. But that would be a lie, of course. He really did want to help her.

"Siyo...Troll." He said slowly; he was able to say that word, at least. The little girl was chirping to him, and all he could do was hold onto her using both of his arms. He was afraid she'd slip away, if he didn't hold her close. He was thankful though, when Yashi started to pet the girl's hair; he'd wanted to do it himself, but he was glad Yashima stepped in to do it in his stead.

"...Nau." He said regretably, shaking his head slowly when he was asked if he knew her name. He raised his eyes when he saw Kay hobble over, but it was just fleeting glance; one that seemed too lifeless to even consider hate. His Ilhar's death wasn't her fault...or at least it hadn't been, in his eyes. He had yet to reflect on who the blame should fall. "Jus...uhndurstahnd." Zasalamel muttered, lowering his head to nuzzle his nose into the little girl's crown.

His Ilhar used to do that when he was little and upset...so he figured it would help now, too.
