Tehya eyed the group of Kalona with mild suspicion. What, were they going to assimilate Calamity too? The one Kalona who seemed to think outside the box... then, maybe she was biased after her run-in with Rhiana as a filly. She nodded to the kalona as she went by, but offered them no other recognition. She was too busy sniffing the air. The scent of danger was growing stronger. Everyone could probably sense it. Tehya was worried, though the emotion wasn't betrayed through her mask of curiosity.
She tilted her head, listening to the old man speak. Last night....? She'd...

Krouw fearfully peeked out of her teepee, horrified by the destruction. Atleast hers hadn't been knocked down? She stepped up to the Chief, and shook her head sadly. "I heard many noises, but I saw nothing." The young girl shook her head sadly, wondering what kind of beast would do so much.. "But.. My Ma used to speak of a legend.. but it's probably nonsense.." Krouw said, quietly.

Cal rolled his eyes and bristled at Rot's entrance. Were he a little more rash, like the first time they'd met, he would have called Rot out on that ridiculous nickname he'd bestowed of Cal. But that was a fight for another day.
"Apparently you weren't listening very carefully, friend. But that's already been said. Perhaps the pup is arrogant and a little clever as well."
He shifted to allow Rot into their circle and tried his best to bite his tongue of anything impertinent to the current situation. "How will we go about discovering this new threat? You've already managed to think out every other angle, have you not? We're still at the meanest question: what the hell are we up against?"
He sighed before the next in a seemingly unending onslaught of personal attacks. They were petty if nothing else, and he couldn't halp but laugh if they believed that after all this time, rumors and heresay could move him so. That, unfortunately, had been thoroughly beat out of him some time ago. His eyes flicked towards Rot before gazing downward again and replying to the mares with a smirk.
"My name is Calamity, but thanks for trying, Necro. And my sister says a lot of things. Perhaps their true, but it doesn't matter much if their not. As for the rumors of my character, I never would have thought fellow kalona to be so interested in gossip. I guess all mares are the same, regardless of the quality of their blood. Pity."

Nagual looked at Yei in relief, the mare always knew what to do.... Acting dociley, she went to the stream and quenched her thirst. But her throat still ached and the strange taste from the berries was still in her mouth. "My nose? Sore.... We should head back... I don't trust that two-leggger!"
Without another word, the mare broke into a gallop and they arrived in the village just as the cry went up. Nagual wanted to growl, she knew it! Something happened the night before as well.... she takes her eyes off him for one moment....! "Where is he?" the mare looked around, trying to find the strange pelted two-legger.

"Father! I saw something. I know who did it..." Tasunke shouted from the crowd of people who had gathered. Many of them were clutching weapons and waving them angerly.
This had gone far enough and everyone wanted justice. "Tell us, Tasunke. Tell us who did these crimes so that they can be persecuted!"
Tasunke lowered his head in shame not wanting to indulge the people of the real perpetrator. He couldn't believe it himself. Last night he decided to keep awake and hid behind the tall rocks on the outskirts of the village. Two soquilis ravaged the teepees with a lone human figure.
He let out an empty sigh and a tear fell from his eye. "It was.... Soquilis. Two of them".
The townsfolk gasped and talked among themselves. Their friends the soquilis did indeed betray them. "We must rid this town of these horrible horses once and for all! Their arrival was marked by evil in the outcome. Perhaps soquilis are gifts from the spirits of darkness and not the light!" one man screamed.
"Please. There was only two who hurt the village. Not every soquili is bad.. please ..listen to me. Don't panic!" Tasunke called out with the hope that his words would quiet everyone down.
It was no use. Chaos broke out in the village and some people began untying soquilis and screaming for them to leave. Several wild soquilis nearby felt grattitude that they never had an owner. These twoleggers were a frightful bunch.

Yei snorted in a disgruntled fashion as the mare darted off and promptly burst into a gallop after her. Unsurprisingly, at this speed her red mane lashed out and rivaled her body in length but as she came to an abrupt halt (which led to a skid) she couldn't help but gawk at the destruction of the village - how could they have slept through it? They weren't even that far away!
Wrinkling her muzzle the mare pulled her upper lip up and gave a long sniff, sucking in the air for the tell tale scent of the man but to her surprise she couldn't smell him, the smell wasn't quite as putrid as before as though he had left the area.
"He's not here, or at least...not where I can smell him." She responded coolly, have infuriated with herself for missing what had happened.

Tehya snorted in alarm, jumping out of the way of an angry two-legger who came running at her. This was insane! She neighed as one threatened her with a stick, front legs striking out. "Stop!" she tried to cry, but her voice went unheard in the chaos."

Fury rose into Myoa. Why were these stupid humans blaming the race for what two loners did? She scopped Saika onto her back, not wanting her to get tramped in the crowd. She made her way over to Tasunke, to protect him from anything that may happen. She licked his hand to show her thanks for his support for her kind.
Tears fell from Saika's eyes. "Everybody! Do not blame the race because of what two loners did! Look! Do you see Myoa hurting me? She's trying to prevent me from getting hurt!" Saika screamed at the top of her lungs, hoping in was not in vain. She couldn't live without Soquili, she just couldn't!

"And there you go again, Calamity... making those assumptions. Really, they were entertaining at first, but at this point don't you think they're a little... tiresome?" Maeryn was certainly growing to be tired of them. Ha. Oh, there was much to be said for thinking through the events carefully. Much could be missed if they did not.
And she had to be correct. She had to be. Calamity and Rot knew each other somehow. "You two... clearly are acquainted," she commented, raising an eyebrow at the pair of Stallions. Did all males hate one another? So far, it had seemed the case. At least among Kalona.
She wasn't terribly fond of males, but that was her business. Not theirs. Not at all. It was amusing to watch the confused, often scared Soquili mill about, searching for a culprit. She couldn't help but think that it was more than a little dangerous all the same. Damn it. This thing did not care what it touched, what it hurt.
Were they safe? Certainly, they were less helpless than the others, but did that make them safe? As the Alpha of her herd, it was important to her that her own companions at least were secure. Calamity seemed to think that he was fully capable of dealing with things on his own, and as another Kalona, she did not question that choice. Foolish or not, it was his to make.
Ahhh... the village was in an uproar. Such chaos. Were it not for the situation at hand, she would have thoroughly enjoyed it. Relished it. Now, it was simply another annoyance.

Rötschreck took a step forward as Davey Jones neared them. His first instinct was to attack the.. tentacled mass of.. something that used to be a Soquili but then the creature spoke.
"Not a bright one, are you?" Rot asked the tentacled creature. "In a place where they are looking for a monster, a monster walks in the open. Though I don't think you did the work here, the two-leggers and other soquilis may not realize that. Watch your back. I wouldn't doubt some crazy enough to kill a monster, even the wrong one, just for their own peace of mind."
Rot turned back towards Calamity. "Clever is never a title I'd give you. Instead of asking questions and having everyone else give you answers, take the time to figure out the answers for yourself, pup. Not everyone is going to be able to play mother to you. You'll have to grow up at some point. But as to what we are up against, who the ******** knows. It's unnatural. Close your eyes and you can feel it seep into your bones. Rely on your instinct. Trust your judgement. You need to get ready for whatever is coming. Our race depends on you just the same as other Kalona." Rot knew he was probably coming off as insulting but really, if anything, he was coming off as more of a father figure. Just a very harsh one.
Rot took a few steps forward before pausing once more, ears perked and nostrils flaring as if he was listening and picking up scent. "Whatever it was, it was nothing that existed on this world before. It's new. Not knowing only makes it more dangerous at this point. The night used to be ours... but now even we may be hunted."

Nagual nodded in agreement, "I cannot smell him either... at least not as strongly as before." For that, she was relieved... she didn't know if her nose could take anymore sneezing!
Then... chaos broke out. Nagual snorted in surprise as the two-leggers started chasing away their soquilis! It was insane. She was relieved more than ever that Sanika lived alone in the desert... surely her two-legger wouldn't be so cruel.
And then... a villager approached them with a weapon brandished. Nagual half-reared and snorted in response, backing away only a little. "Yei! What's going on?" The mare was frightened now, she didn't want to fight.

"I couldn't see the soquilis in the darkness but one of them was small like that of a foal.. or another race. I don't know which. Another had a long mane that blew in the wind" Tasunke said.
