Scribblemouse Eh, I imagine I'll get broody one day, but I think I'll still be annoyed if people try to say that I'm less of a woman, or not fulfilling my womanly duties or whatever, by not having kids. Right now people ask 'So when are you getting married?' half-seriously (honestly, you have a boyfriend for a few years and they all hear wedding bells . . . rolleyes ) and I have this feeling that whenever I get married people will instead ask 'So when are you going to try for a baby?' and I'll be just like this -> gonkMy mom actually admitted that the only reason she got off the pill to have me was that all of her friends, family, etc. told her she'd regret not having kids and pregnancy was so wonderful. stare She has the same disdain for those types as you do, but doesn't completely hate kids--I have a younger sister (who was also planned). She does admit that she hated taking care of us until we were like ten years old. xp Consequently, my wonderful feminist mom (and wonderful feminist dad) have never shown any interest in my sister and I getting married and having kids. My sister's getting married next year, and they support her, but there was never any pressure on her or her fiance.

Although, admittedly, even though tithing isn't required, it's highly recommended. And the Church recently eliminated "Aborted infant" limbo I believe, but it's hardly taught that they go to Hell.

I'm pretty sure they're still debating whether babies go to limbo.
One theory holds that baptism is needed for salvation, the other holds that aborted babies are baptised in blood like martyrs.

The Catholic Church has become more 'user-friendly' continuously (sp) as we pass each year, and I heard they decided that unborn infants and those that were not baptized before death were sent to heaven, because no one should not be allowed to bask in the glory of God and Jesus, blah blah blah, type stuff. Not that that is a bad thing, I just gotta watch my feet when I block for Jesus in football.

Tiger of the Fire I thought catholics believed in the "age of understading" or what ever we call it today, that a child is wholey innocent untill they can grasp even the vaugest concept of what sin is?Not exactly. Even infants carry Original Sin, a stain left by Adam and Eve's eating the fruit. It is a Catholic belief that baptism is what washes that sin away. So, if someone is never baptized, whether by water, faith (desire?), or blood, they couldn't go to Heaven. However, it's a pretty broad description, so it's mostly up to the individual to decide for themselves what exactly that entails.

I just got told by someone that I want to punish girls for having sex with cancer because I don't want girls to have to take a vaccine when they don't want to.
So I suppose that means I want to punish guys with STDs by not forcing them to wear condoms when they don't want to.

Lorysa I know, it's so annoying! I hate it! WHY should I have to get a vaccine that I'm not sure is safe just because my mom wants it? A vaccine that hurts a lot? Luckily, she left it up to me because of the huge fits I threw with the last scary shots...lymelady I just got told by someone that I want to punish girls for having sex with cancer because I don't want girls to have to take a vaccine when they don't want to. So I suppose that means I want to punish guys with STDs by not forcing them to wear condoms when they don't want to.It's not about parents anymore. The government is MANDATING it. Two states at least have no opt-out at all in the bills they're pushing. So girls would have to get it whether they or their parents liked it or not. It's insane to do it on a vaccine with so little testing, especially since the problem can be caught with a simple pap smear. I really hope it's safe and if it turns out to be, I believe they should mandate it. But 1, it might not be safe, and 2, it doesn't even protect against all cervical cancer.
